Sixty years ago, my friends and I—young as we were—thought we could take down Zhaitan. There were seven of us who had known each other since we were "a half-keg tall," as my father used to say.

We set out southwest. The ground was still thawing, but Johan argued we could sail to Orr and face Zhaitan head on. Bear, were we full of ourselves!

What happened?

Dredge reality happened. We couldn't even fight through the creatures at Frostgate Falls. Our Zhaitan campaign was finished nearly before it had even started.

How did that affect your guild?

The years went by, and we redeemed ourselves against dredge, grawl, and even jotun. We had our glory. Defeating Zhaitan is for a new generation—your generation.

Why didn't you go after Jormag?

Our elders had drilled it into our heads that unless we could break the tooth, we had not hope of ever defeating Jormag. We could not break the tooth.

But there's no such prophecy for Zhaitan.

I see you young ones still think as we did. We thought Zhaitan would be a simpler victory. It was almost our undoing.
