I spend every minute of every day worried about when the next wave of undead will wash up and attack us. It's no way to live.

Aren't hylek warriors?

Some are, but not all. Some are cooks, hunters, priests, or parents. Some are too young to be anything. The undead don't attack only the warriors.

Your race has had many losses?

You can't imagine the losses. We live here, on the shores of these waters, or deeper inland. The undead have ravaged our lands and many of our tribes.

Why don't you flee?

Flee? To where? To the north? To the lands of the humans, the charr, or the norn? What home would we have there? No. We fight. We'll win, or we'll die. We cannot leave our homeland. Our bugs are here.

We have a plan. First, we stop the undead at the beach. If that fails, we stop them at the south gate. If that fails, then we're as good as dead. There will be no fail. Not so long as I breathe.

Do you see the desperation in my eyes? We are surrounded on all sides by the most unholy of enemies. I have never prayed so much in my life, bless Zintl. I know that I could die, and I am not ashamed to admit that I am terrified.

Where would I go? There is no other place for me. My family is here. My tribe. We would never survive no matter which direction we chose. Flight is no longer an option. Now, fight is all we have left.
