I'll try to add as much info as I can, before I get sucked in by the awesomeness of the game :p -Tosti 18:04, 21 April 2012 (UTC)

Dividing up work[edit]

How do we want to divide up work? Some of the tasks (such as events/storyline) are significantly bigger in terms of scale than others (i.e. effects). So should we each start at a point and progress from there and see where we get with that? (i.e. start at the same point and work outwards) or do we want to choose specific things to delegate to each person?
Also, if anyone knows a good, free, downloadable screen capture software, that could help, because then you can just film your playing and decipher it later (which might be better.) Aqua (T|C) 00:04, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

I'm going to spend all the time in character creation until I have a full gallery of all the the playable races. - Infinite - talk 01:03, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
I'll find NPC vendors to get their items and prices in The Charr Homelands. While, I try to help with the crafting of tailor and cook. Lasha 05:31, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Google Docs collection[edit]

I have made a Google Docs collection for the first BWE documentation.
You will know where to go and I can only grant edit permission to users who signed in (and verify with me which user they are). This collection will be available till long after the actual BWE, allowing us to document each others' research to reduce time spent documenting the event.
I hope to see this collection turning into an extensive library of information. :) - Infinite - talk 11:31, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

P.S. Feel free to create a personal document and add it to the collection when you have the permission to do so (or I can do it for you) if you prefer working from your own documents. - Infinite - talk 11:40, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
Also note that the use of Google Docs is entirely optional. I'm not discouraging (or trying to discourage) posting raw data to the wiki in any way! - Infinite - talk 17:25, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
Good stuff. I would need somewhere to do some random preparations. Might as well be online for others to view and try out. Ge4ce-Talk-Contribs 17:26, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Cities[edit]

is there a uniform way that city pages should be done? I looked at holbrak and that page looks good to me but there is no spot for npcs are we even going to list npcs?-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 10:51, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

I was rather thinking to work on city maps where npc locations are marked on, apart from an alphabetic/vending sorted list of npcs next to it. I hate running around cities looking for that one npc that you know should be there somewhere but can't find. But i think map images should be reasonably sized then, so maybe the city maps should get their own pages being linked to from the city pages. --Ee 13:04, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Ee, if you only think to list position is we do not interfere and better images taken with the same criteria. My task will be much more specific than yours. My purpose is to take all NPC vendors and items sold with the data. That is, just before I do not care if the NPC itself and I focus only on objects. Do not know how you see it. I really leaves more time to run to the next. What do you prefer? Lasha 13:22, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
You mean that i make maps with npc locations and you check out what they sell? Fine by me! --Ee 14:29, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Crafting[edit]

I was thinking of doing the hunstmen discipline as a small project to test my rusty wiki knowledge, but then artificiers would be the last crafting dicipline left so I might also focus on it. I'm wondering how should the layout of information and page be? Should I make it similar to the weaponsmith or is there some specific categories people want it to be done? Because atm the huntsmen page it probably the worst of all for information since there is almost nothing on it. Tech Wolf-Talk 16:51, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

If you want to use the google docs, I have set up a spreadsheet where we can just add recipes as we get them. That way we can focus on getting the info and worry about the layout and everything wiki after the beta is done. And if you want to do the huntsman then that is fine. It is ok to have more than one person per discipline since one person might discover recipes that another didn't. User Mattsta Sig1.jpgUser Mattsta Sig2.jpg 22:24, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Guilds[edit]

Whilst I haven't the means to confirm it; tags are not unique. Therefore I recommend using [wiki] for both guilds. - Infinite - talk 23:23, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

Choosing worlds[edit]

Are there any disadvantages choosing an American world, if I live and play in Europe? Because it seems as if there will be more players in the American ones, and it'd be a shame to end up "alone" in one of the worlds. – timbre 08:01, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

The US servers will have better ping for US players, whereas EU servers will have better ping for EU players. You will never end up alone, though. Many EU wiki users will be on Riverside. :) - Infinite - talk 08:06, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
Technically the world will affect only bonuses you receive for the WvWvW while playing. For anything else you can go from one server to another to play. For my part I prefer to play in Riverside if you have fewer people. So I can focus on my objectives, although the company is always welcome, especially at first to go leveling more fast ;) Lasha 08:19, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
And we currently have no idea how much the ping will differ, right? – timbre 13:12, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
Not afaik. - Infinite - talk 13:54, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Character creation[edit]

I have the resources to make the extensive galleries, but someone else still needs to document the Biography (basically double-checking it). I don't have that information as I have not signed up to gather it. - Infinite - talk 19:16, 29 April 2012 (UTC)

Asura and book carts[edit]

so i got screen shots of all the asura's that have dialog in all the city's (except black citadel) didn't get out to the explorable zones (did a lot of pvp). and will make npc pages for them as soon as I can. I also got all the book carts and the books in the durman hall in d-reach screened. and am unsure as to how to post those. maybe make a book cart page?-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 04:13, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

so i have added all the asura and one quaggan to the wiki that i got screen shots of dialog from, i got some of Dougal keane's dialog but not all of it (i didn't say i was going to so that was a added bonus) i also added the book carts and have a few bits of books that I don't know what to do with so i will post the screen shots here: http://imgur.com/a/dMwsy#0 and let you guys figure out how you want to handle them. they are located in the durman hall (poi) in Kormir low road.-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 00:29, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

Screenshots[edit]

Yeah, I figured that out halfway through too. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 17:35, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
Same here. Thus most of my storyline rewards are currently listed as generic terms like "Helmet" instead of links with stats. Hopefully they implement a way to screencap with tooltips included for the next beta. --Thervold 15:59, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
There is, but the only way to do that is to copy the screenshot directly into photomanipulation software (such as Photoshop, or even Paint). - Infinite - talk 16:27, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
I think using fraps works too, and it might be easier. I took over 1000 screenies with fraps :). --Lania User Lania Elderfire pinkribbon.jpg18:15, 01 May 2012 (UTC)
Steam can also get "complete" screenshots, you just have to add GW2 to your library as a non-Steam game. So for anyone who already has Steam installed, they wouldn't have to bother with installing Fraps. [edit] Ooh, I just checked on Fraps - unless you buy the full version ($37), screenshots are saved as BMP. Yuck. Think I'll stick with Steam. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:40, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

The Things We've Learned[edit]

So I think, given everything that we did and played and documented, that we all inevitability have had realizations about how to do this better in the future. So I'm proposing making a list on the next page of things to remember or to make sure we do. My own lessons were that screenshots are weird in GW2 (they remove all interfaces, which renders them useless for item, etc. screenshots) and also that personal story is time consuming to play through. So next time, we should each choose a specific combination of bio questions (i.e. human ele fire noble sister lyssa) and document that; that would allow to see most, if not all of the interactions of personal story, at the very least. What else did people learn? Aqua (T|C) 18:17, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

Hmm, that's strange about your screenies. My screenshots kept the interface etc. --Lania User Lania Elderfire pinkribbon.jpg22:05, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
Some of them kept tooltips and the like, but the majority did not. Perhaps it was lag related? Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 22:40, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
I think this boils down to some things we will just have to capture using fraps or other video capturing devices.-User Zesbeer sig.png Zesbeer 22:56, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
The same thing happened to me with the screen shots. The tool tips are not captured. Also, I'm new here and I would like to apologize because I only saw this page now, and I've been adding stubs and icons for novice tailoring recipes, I didn't know someone was already working on it. I hope it's ok. CranSnap 02:48, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
All I know now is that woman really can't stand still. Not even in perfect universes. - Infinite - talk 05:54, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
CranSnap, this project is just a way to organise effort. Your contributions are still very much welcome. Multiple eyes working on the same thing will help improve correctness and completeness. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 10:42, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
Seconding what berry said. As for my observations: The cities are hugely populated! There are so many minor named and nameless NPCs that it's a bit overwhelming. Additionally, the area and subarea and the locations (which I will actually document next time...) all have a massive amount of content to note, and that's going to take some time to figure out and organize (as suspected). Redshift 10:51, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
Same thinking. All those random conversations going on among the generic NPCs! Just the NPCs in Divinity's Reach itself is like a year-long project! :D -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 12:51, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
I guess it ultimately shows very well why it took 5 years so far. - Infinite - talk 12:52, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

There is a reason that some images have interfaces and some do not:

Hi resolution screen captures are rendered at the time of capture (I think 4k resolution I need to recheck) and not just a capture of the currently displayed screen buffer. As a result, the Hi Resolution captures have no interface, and as of BW2 result in "broken" map pages and as of BW1 (didn't check today) also didn't work with water. Stereoscopic screen shots are fantastic, as is playing the game in such mode. I took about 7 hours of FRAPS 1080pm on the public stress test, not so much this time. Hundreds of caps. I've done some map and mostly trading. -Allisa Wonderland (need to set up account here too)

Forgot the traits >.<[edit]

I'm so sorry! My task was collecting the traits, but I was so mesmerized by the game that I forgot. Shame on me. Gnarf 10:38, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

I think for many of us this was a learning experience in many different ways--I had to spend a fair chunk of time just adjusting and getting acquainted with, well, learning to play--and I didn't even think to check if the traits were clickable/viewable before they were unlocked... next time! Redshift 10:51, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
The best way to view traits is simply to enter the Mists. Regardless of character level, you gain access to all weapons, armor, runes, skills, and traits to set up for arena combat. Outside of the Mists, you can hover over minor traits to see their effect, but you can't view the major traits until you put at least ten points in a line. --Thervold 16:07, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Did anyone manage to get screenshots of the dungeon armors?[edit]

It appears that the merchants in Lion's Arch who exchange dungeon tokens for armors and weapons are actually wearing the dungeons armors themselves. I wasn't aware of that myself, so I never bothered to take screenshots at high definition, but I'm wondering if someone who worked in this project managed to do that. There are low quality images here and here, but I was curious to see if we have something better somewhere. Erasculio 14:13, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

I just put these up, all gathered here. Category:Vendor screenshots Kenrid 07:13, 15 May 2012 (UTC)

Part 2 during the stress test[edit]

BWE2[edit]

Is anyone going to organize something like this for the next BWE? Or maybe simply update this one to cover it? I'd like to recruit people to gather skill data, and a project page like this would be a good place to advertise that. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:11, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

When is the next BWE? I think it's awkward that they have not announced this months BWE yet. Gnarf 14:18, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
If you've been paying attention, they keep reiterating (because people keep misunderstanding) they they only stated a goal of having one about every month. They're not going to have an April BWE, a May BWE, a June BWE, etc. Given that today is Tuesday, we probably won't have one this weekend (besides, it would just be mean to make their staff work over Memorial Day weekend, so I wasn't expecting one in any case). —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:51, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, the earliest I would expect it would be the first weekend of June. The last BWE came exactly 2 weeks after the preceding stress test. The last stress test was May 14th, and the next weekend after the 28th is the first weekend of June. But I won't be surprised if they delay it further. --Lania User Lania Elderfire pinkribbon.jpg16:25, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
There still may be a chance, last 2 betas the emails came out on the Tues before. So I'd say tonight we will know for sure. It is holiday weekend, but they might take advantage of that with players. Besides, it is my B-day weekend and I have the rest of the week and weekend off work. I'm sure they would give me a nice B-day present. heehee :) As to organizing for next BWE (This weekend or not) I have been using this page, even though it is titled BWE1. As far as updating tasks section. Kenrid 17:02, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Then I'll go ahead and put something here for it, at least it'll be visible. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 17:58, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Client update reminder[edit]

A reminder to all that with the impending activities this weekend to run/update your client prior to Friday. The latest patch is several gigs (almost 6, I believe) and that's not something to be doing when you could be in-game. Cheers! Redshift 19:42, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

About 6 gigs is correct. I am patching it right now, but I do that daily. I also recommend it to others, daily checking for patches. - Infinite - talk 19:44, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Aqua's request[edit]

Per Aqua's request I'll be overseeing the BWE Krewe this weekend until further notice. Not sure if I have sufficient guild privileges in the US-originated guild to properly manage everything, so please bear with me. - Infinite - talk 16:09, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Wait a sec. What are the wiki guilds? I'll take an invite, please!-- shew|make 16:23, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
So after all this E3 madness it made me quite lazy. Kinda skipped the invite on purpouse to test stuff last BWE. When the beta goes live hit me with an invite (or after the merge), is it better to contact you in game or here? Tech Wolf-Talk 16:53, 8 June 2012 (UTC)
I think you'd best contact me in-game, as I intend to be online constantly, immediately after things go live again. - Infinite - talk 16:54, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Merging of both guilds[edit]

Users who had already joined during BWE1 will remember there being a split between EU and US Wiki Krewe guilds. We intended to merge this back then, but didn't get around to it. This BWE, we will merge both guilds into the main (US) guild for convenience (and social improvements). This will take only a fraction of the whole weekend. Also note that users who weren't online during the merge will remain on friends lists so that they can be invited when they do log on. - Infinite - talk 16:46, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Due to the lack of privileges, I have created a third guild to house all players until something else happens.
You will be receiving invites to "Beta Weekend Event Wiki Krewe [wiki]" that I'd like you all to accept. No need to actually represent it, though; it's just functioning as a list to see who is online. - Infinite - talk 18:08, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

EU-side players moving server[edit]

The transferring of worlds is free, and the EU players on Riverside will find that they are on a German server now. Therefore we are migrating to Sacnoth Valley. This is not obliged, but recommended if the wiki guild is your only active guild. - Infinite - talk 18:10, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Cook?[edit]

I may decide to be a cook instead of artificer in BWE #3 to help you guys flesh that out as I've been hoarding all the ingredients. Since tailor has been pretty much done by another member with the recent Google docs upload of 177 screens of recipes and other choices such as jeweler has been taken...Yumiko ^,~ 04:35, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
