Spell check

Can somebody please check the spelling of the "Mad Memories" achievement? All of the items related to it are spelled "Memoires" and the item itself is called "Mad Memoires" so it would be a consistency spelling error on Anet's part if it is spelled that way. - Do_odleplex 21:38, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

I pulled it from the API which makes spelling errors (that aren't also in the game) unlikely, but I just double-checked ingame: the achievement is called Mad Memories. However, Mad Memories is only the achievement for talking to Magister Tassi, the achievement with all the Memoirs is Mad Mysteries.

Since Mad Memoires looks like a book, I thought everything might be right. Then I looked it up in a dictionary and they spell the thing I think of as "Memoirs". Idk, don't ask me about English spelling. But I'm pretty sure everything on this page is spelled exactly as it is in game, correct or not. --Alcahata (talk) 21:54, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

Ah I see, I got the two achievements mixed up it would seem, as if you pulled it from the API, you're right there shouldn't be any spelling errors. Interesting bit of trivia then that they went with the non-punny name for the achievement but not the rest of thing things(which makes my head hurt a bit lol). Mount Maelstrom and Sparkly Fen Awakened Verification

I can verify that a small group of Awakened do spawn in Maelstrom, and that they count toward any Shadow of the Mad King achievements requiring defeating Joko's minions. They spawn ~3 at at time on (https://i.imgur.com/pPNcz3o.jpg)either side of the small bay where the Broken Arrow River and The Mire Sea meet, just NW of Oxbow Isle Waypoint. I can also verify Mount Maelstrom around Broken Arrow River. I can also verify Southsun Cove, around Owain's Refuge on the sea level. They often get into fights with nearby enemies (ones in Maelstrom fight Risen, ones in Southsun fight karka). Vahkris (talk) 17:07, 25 October 2017 (UTC)

I can verify Sparkly Fen, west of Brooloonu Waypoint. Each time a group of three, one of them a veteran, all at level 65. Respawn time is approx. 5 minutes.

Title

One is redirected to this page from the 2018 Shadow of the Mad King Achievements page link; should the title be '2017'? It has achievements that were only introduced in 2018. Inculpatus cedo (talk) 02:27, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

IMO, this page as well as [[A Very Merry Wintersday (2016 achievements)]] should just have (achievements) instead of a year, since ArenaNet is now no longer recreating achievements every year. Konig (talk) 07:58, 18 October 2018 (UTC)

These pages are useless

There are several achievements whose text alone do not make it clear exactly how to achieve them. These pages that simply list all achievements in a category are utterly useless as a resource and have no value as far as documenting goes. Fight me.

On that note, can someone finally clarify whether the effing Courtly Service requires 5 DIFFERENT commissioning services that cost gold, or 5 SAME commissioning services that cost gold, OR if it requires any number of commissioning services that total 5 gold. Because no, it's not effing clear even if it uses the word "tithe". "Tithe 5 gold commissioning services for the Mad King's Labyrinth." That is exactly what this page is for, it's a list of the achievements and descriptions for them, it also has a nice api feature to show you which you have done. Several achievements have their own pages with more details like Mad Maleficence and Carving Pumpkin, feel free to add your own and expand on the details. As for the Courtly Service requirement it's to spend a total of 5g on the services, this can be all at once with say the food option or multiple times adding up to 5 gold total. The wiki is here to document the game so the exact wording is added in, if you want to add in more details please do so on the appropriate pages. - Dak393 (talk) 22:21, 4 November 2019 (UTC)

Achievements that are complicated enough to require a walkthrough ought to have a link to said walkthrough -- click on the achievement's name. Smaller achievements will often have notes added underneath the table, though we're aware that these aren't always easy to notice. We recently updated the table so editors can now link achievements to their notes a bit more clearly -- we're still in the process of implementing this update, but I've just added it to this article for you. Yes you can still get it, go to the western waypoint and up the JP. I'd suggest looking at a video but we really should make a page for it (or at least the JP) on the wiki. --Dak393 (talk) 14:53, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
