Talk:Plains of Ashford
Ash (ford). It suddenly made sense why the charr kept the name. I mean, why did the humans name it; Ashford (Abbey)? Isn't it normal to change the name to reflect your vision? Ge4ce-Talk-Contribs 19:35, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
- I just changed the link from Village of Smokestead to Smokestead as it was a red link. If this was intential and the page is yet to be made, just edit/revert as needed. Titan Crow 19:42, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
- We don't know the difference between the two at this time, they may be the very same thing, in which case Smokestead needs to be moved to Village of Smokestead. - Infinite - talk 19:43, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
"Between the art changes and the content changes, we came to the ultimate version of the Village of Smokestead: one that not only looks amazing but gives you a real sense of who the charr are and what they are about. Smokestead never would have become what it is now if it wasn’t for the willingness of all involved to start over and do what was best for the game. The Village of Smokestead now serves as a fitting introduction to the charr and, hopefully, as one of the most fun and interesting areas of the game." (quoted from the blog post "creating the charr starter area") To me it sounds like Smokestead is short for village of smokestead. (Kendil 08:46, 26 April 2011 (UTC))
- It is indeed and the information had already been updated in the meantime. Thanks. - Infinite - talk 13:50, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
Bittersweet[edit]
This area will give bittersweet nostalgia for GW1-veterans, seeing your very first explorable area burned. Well we DID see it burned in post-searing, but as a starter area... ;_; 'Overlord Frosty' 12:46, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
- Anyone who can't handle such a thing is ill-advised to play Charr for all sorts of reasons. A F K When Needed 18:15, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
Moving farther west?[edit]
Ashford is pretty far from Rin in GW, and practically right in the shadow of Ascalon City. Given the Charr lore thus far, it doesn't seem like a very logical place to have the starting area. It'll be a long hike to the Black Citadel and should be swarming with Ascalon ghosts. Perhaps Ashford is being moved into the old Green Hills County? Lysander 01:07, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- Keep in mind that the world is much much much much much much much much bigger in Guild Wars 2.
- I doubt it'll be that close to Ascalon City at all. A F K When Needed 13:41, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- Asford was right outside Ascalon City in GW1. It's likely that this will be the size of Queensdale, so I can see Ascalon City having an entrance at the northeastern edge of the map quite easily. Assuming that, due to the size, the map isn't just for low levels, this corner may even be the "high-end" of the beginner map. Then, of course, there's the fact that things scale. We know that Queensdale accommodates levels 1-10, at least as the Shadow Behemoth in Godslost Swamp is a level 10 event enemy, so I would assume that the Plains of Ashford accommodates levels 1-10 as well. So being on the edge of Ascalon City is most possible. -- Konig/talk 06:06, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
Water looks deeper...[edit]
Looking at ye olde GW1 and comparing it to my experiences around the submarine, the water seems to be a good bit deeper in the Ascalon Basin. Puts the submarine right about where regent valley and old Ascalon meet. Torrenal 18:38, 26 May 2012 (UTC)
Map outdated?[edit]
Could someone who completed the plains check if the map is still up to date? There ist a point of interest shown at Gunbreach Hills that's no longer there as far as I can tell and a skill challenge to the west of the Temperus Point waypoint where my map shows a POI instead. I'd check and update the map but I'm still missing two POIs... Nicktar 22:15, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
- I confirm, the map is outdated. It cannot be used as a reference for 100% completion. Vezz 04:27, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
- Most maps taken from the BWE's are likely outdated. Konig/talk 05:49, 16 September 2012 (UTC)
- Also the Renown Heart for defeating the Flame Legion (Latera Painstorm) isn't at Gunbreach Hills, it's actually in Lake Feritas to the east. Just wondering if someone can make the appropriate corrections to the page please. 120.29.32.107 19:07, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

Portal Problems[edit]
Has anyone besides me had an issue with the portal linking Ashford with Iron Marches? I went through it and it brought up the load screen like normal, but it never goes away. My character is now stuck on that portal and when I select her off of the select screen, it loads me into Ashford, then auto loads the Iron Marches screen. Serris 07:37, 27 October 2012 (PDT)
- It only seems to do this on Darkhaven. Switched to Northern Shiverpeaks and loaded with minor difficulty. Serris 08:09, 27 October 2012 (PDT)
New Waypoint as of most recent patch.[edit]
The map is as of now outdated. A new point was added to a cave in Langmar Estate as indicated in attached screenshot.

Removal of pets?[edit]
Have some pets been removed from this map then? If they have, is that unique to this map or have they removed some pets from other starter areas too? Titan Crow 17:23, 21 September 2014 (UTC)
- All starter zones were affected. Some pets still appear in the higher-level areas of the zones. ref —Dr Ishmael 18:48, 21 September 2014 (UTC)
Map completion route from May 2013[edit]
Doodleplex found an unused .png file lurking which looks remotely useful, so I've reuploaded it as a .jpg. -Chieftain Alex 20:44, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
Feedback 2018/09/01[edit]
Can anyone who knows the info, organize the events into "time based" and "interaction based"? --12.186.104.253 10:33, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
