Talk:Enchanted Treasure Map
Item acquisition 2014[edit]
I'm guessing these map pieces drop anywhere ascended crafting materials drop. I've gotten them from various jp chests and the chests just scattered around the world.
- From the data already provided, which includes normal open-world chests, event chests, and jumping puzzle chests, it seems safe to assume that any chest can contain them. —Dr Ishmael 12:25, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
I may be mistaken in this but i believe the region determines the fragment.
- Kryta 1
- Ascalon 2
- Maguuma 3
- Shiverpeaks 4
Anyone's experiences contradict this? ~Narz 121.75.193.161 12:59, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- I just got 1/4 in Sparkfly Fen. So I think it's just random. Traveller (talk) 15:49, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- So far I only got 1's in Kryta and 4's in Shiverpeaks. Maybe is a setting per chest, with exceptions. For example, a "Kryta" chest in Magumma would give Kryta maps.MithTalk 00:32, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
- Yup. Kept trying. All chests that I tried worked like that. If it looks krytan it gives piece 1, 2 for ascalon, 3 for maguuma and 4 for shiverpeaks. It's the object and not the location what determines the drop. MithTalk 01:16, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
- Just received #1 from the Beggar's Burrow minidungeon, so minidungeon reward chests confirmed.Azure Fang (talk) 15:23, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

Someone add the chest in drytop at lair of the beast POI in drytop pls, got 2/4 piece there. 2 guildies both got piece 1/4 at barricade camp chest in harathi, but i got nothing there 176.27.121.203 19:27, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- Just adding in, I got a 1/4 from the secret chest in the middle of the Demongrub cave (not the one with the spiders), and 2/4 from the chest behind the Centaur camp in Drytop.
- What exactly does this map do?--Will Greyhawk (talk) 15:51, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- The map brings up your world map and zooms in on a particular location. For me it was in divinity's reach, unsure if it's character specific, randomized at time of item creation, etc ~Narz121.75.193.161 01:42, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
I Just added one I got (1/4) at Straits of Devastation Triumph Plaza, near Chapel of Lady Glaive --Noggieca 05:57, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
Any use for duplicates?[edit]
As I was running around the world gathering the pieces for my map, I got sections 3 and 4 extra (as in, two of each). I completed the map, and it led me to a spot where I could pick up the key. Neat. It's account bound, so I moved it to an alt. Using the same completed map, my alt was led to the same exact spot, where there was no key.
If I manage to complete a second map, would it lead me to a different spot? Could I pick up a second key? Has anyone tried this yet? I'm reluctant to spend too much time on it myself simply due to random drops from chests. But maybe someone else has some idea of how it works. Nkuvu 05:24, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
- I made a second map, and it showed the initial intro with the ??? first. I visited a different map this time, but it sent me to Lion's Arch again, then to the Consortium spot. I could not find the Key again. It still could have sent me to the same spot. MithTalk 06:51, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
Region Accuracy[edit]
I don't think the regional information is accurate. I have gotten Enchanted Map Scrap 1/4 at the end of Langmar's Estate which is in Ascalon. I've also seen other scraps in the regions they are not supposed to spawn in. 58.110.36.240 13:07, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
- The article merely says, "with those in specific regions being more likely to drop certain scraps ". So far, in my experience (about a dozen scraps), the list is 100% consistent. It could be that specific chests use incorrect loot tables or that guild puzzles/rushes are an exception.
- We could add a {{Verify}} (
Template:Research needed) tag to the statement, suggesting it still needs confirmation. We could also create a single research page and point to it from each of the scrap articles.
- I recommend no change for the moment: better to leave the impression that you have to collect from different regions even if that's only 80% accurate than offering no suggestion when it might be at least 50% helpful. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:20, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
- As far as I can tell, it depends not on the region, but the chest itself. As a rule of thumb:
- Krytan: 'waves' and "long yellow" chests.
- Ascalon: "round" and "big keyhole" brass-colored chests.
- Maguuma: "plantlike" and "floaty" chests.
- Shiverpeaks: "pelt", "paws", "toolbox" and "big lock" chests.
- Most chests that have similar models seem to share drop tables changed by the scaled level of the opener, so when they are placed in a different region, they still drop the same piece. But since most chests in a region match the region, you can tell people that if they want a particular piece, they can just keep opening chests within than region, and they'll eventually get one. We could make a list of the exceptions to the general rule (chests with the same appearance but different region, chests with a drop that doesn't match the model), but it's not like people need it. They can just go for another chest if the region if the one they used was one of the exceptions. So you can still simply tell people: "Here are all the chests, go to chests in that region for this piece".MithTalk 20:52, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
- As far as I can tell, it depends not on the region, but the chest itself. As a rule of thumb:
- It's possible to get different scraps from the same chest. Before knowing that I had to try other ones, I'd just been doing the chest at the end of Urmaug's Secret in Lion's Arch. 99% of the time it was a #1 scrap, but I did pick up a #2 scrap as well, once. (Since then I've only gotten #1 scraps, a couple dozen probably.) Had to go to Maguuma and Shiverpeaks for #3 and #4, which I got on the first chests in each region. Vili 点 20:58, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
- So maybe it's a combination of chest type, some randomness, and ANet Consistency™, resulting in a strong correlation between region and scrap. So, even if that's not a causal relationship and not 100% guaranteed, the note is still reasonable: you're more likely to get any given scrap type from chests in a particular region, i.e. it's still a good rule of thumb. (PS nice observation by Mith — I knew that there were a lot of different chest types, but I never associated them with particular regions. Myabe that's worth a note on the chest and list of basic chests articles.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:08, 27 September 2014 (UTC)
Usage[edit]
As per the usage section: "Head to any of the PoIs and use the map again. You will be pointed to a new PoI in the same zone, with the message, "Somewhere near this point of interest"."
I went to the hospital in divinity reach as it was the one of the POIs when I double clicked the map in the open world. But now I'm at the hospital trying to use the map again as per the instructions and I get nothing but "You can't use this right now." Shows up in red text in the middle of the screen and in the chat window... I've walked all around the hospital both inside and outside. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.10.188.242 (talk • contribs) at 03:01, 30 September 2014 (UTC).
- Were you in Salma District (the separate instance)? or in Divinity's Reach proper? If one, try the other way around and post here whether successful or not. I'll try to clarify the directions a bit in the meantime. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 04:28, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
- Another thing you might try: head to LA, instead of DR. It's possible that any of the possible maps might work. Good luck. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 04:33, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
- As per the usage section - i went to Salma District, but got the same error. once i exited the home instance, it worked. it circled a poi on the map in Lion's Arch. went to LA. used the map again and it circled the poi "Consortium Gift Shop". took me a few minutes to find the location of the key. it's on the big rock behind the two torches on the walkway near the junction of several walkways. there's a bush growing out of the rock (no tropical bird). --Banrighk(talk) 23:54, 16 March 2015 (UTC) Banrigh
- The tropical bird won't be always there indeed. --Txon Atana - (talk) 00:04, 17 March 2015 (UTC)

Key Not Always Present[edit]
I assembled the map and had to exit and enter the map multiple times for it to show. After 6 tries porting into Lions Arch or logging in and out while still in Lion's Arch, I walked out to Lornar's Pass and back in. Key was present. Separ (talk) 20:41, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
- Not sure if it's what you mean but there is a known bug (mentioned in the article) about the key not showing up, but leaving map and re-entering makes it show up.--Txon Atana - (talk) 03:11, 17 October 2014 (UTC)
So, extra copies are useless?[edit]
For the map scraps and the map itself, gaining a second copy has no value (other than 1s 98c to a merchant). Is that correct?
If so, I think we should state it more clearly in the notes. I can rewrite it, but I want confirmation first.
- Yes, it seems it doesn't nothing else after you have found the key. It would be more like a souvenir actually by then. --Txon Atana - (talk) 22:22, 20 December 2014 (UTC)
Can you send the extra copies (1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4) to your alts so they can make the map and get the key? I know it's states that giving a map (assuming completed map) to an alt doesn't get an alt a key. What I'm saying send the individual pieces to an alt, then have them make the map for the key. (September 30, 2021)
- No its once per account. -Chieftain Alex 22:21, 1 October 2021 (UTC)
Still working?[edit]
Can anybody confirm that this is still a live feature? I've been trying to get map piece 2 for nearly a year with no luck. Daddicus (talk)
- I can't actually confirm since it has been a while since I got a map part, but I believe it's still valid because that key is part of a collection that's still available. --Txon Atana - (talk) 22:54, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
Feedback 2015/11/11[edit]
enchanted map scrap 3/4 is not dropped in Maguuma Jungle at the moment (11/11) only map scrap 1/4 is dropped there. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 94.226.140.159 (talk) at 16:00, 11 November 2015 (UTC).
As of September 30, 2021, I was grouped with someone that gotten 3/4 at the end of Old Oola Lab. But, I have been grinding the three basic chest drops in Maguuma Jungle Metrica Province (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_basic_chests#Maguuma_Jungle) for two days and still have not gotten 3/4 piece or any other piece.
Feedback 2017/03/04[edit]
I just assembled the map and it immediately pointed me towards the key location under the palm tree upon first use. Well it pointed to the Whispers building next to the palm tree. I assembled it while I was in Lion's Arch. No more hint locations it seems, just a final destination. Not sure if this is because I used the map for the first time in Lion's Arch, or if the treasure hunt locations have just been removed. If the locations have been removed, we might as well remove them from the wiki page if others have the same experience as me. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 105.246.65.158 (talk) at 22:03, 4 March 2017 (UTC).
- This was initially made for another version of Lion's Arch. If there really is an issue I would submit a bug report to Anet since this might be something they forgot to update. -Darqam 22:14, 4 March 2017 (UTC)
- Possibly it happened because you used it already at Lion's Arch. Even before the rebuild of Lion's Arch it was used to give "hints" only when used out of there, then once you were in the map it would show straightly the correct location. For me it still seems to be working as intended. Oh also, it never pointed out the "exact" location, but somewhere nearby instead. --Txon Atana - (talk) 02:32, 5 March 2017 (UTC)
- I had the same experience, i.e. I used the map for the first time in Lion's Arc and it pointed me towards the key without the preceding step. (This actually confused me a lot since this is my first time playing GW and I was trying to follow the wiki description.) 212.181.159.170 14:53, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
- I have revised the text and tried to make the usage steps clearer and detailed. Indeed I could see how it could be confusing for new players. I hope its less confuse now. Oh and I added a note about using it initially at Lion's Arch. --Txon Atana - (talk) 03:05, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

Multiple scrap copies can be found per character[edit]
I removed the "Each scrap can only be found once per character." note because I only have one character, I've always only had one character (I recently gave GW2 a try on a free account), no one has sent me map-scraps, and I already have multiple copies of several of the scraps. (I forgot to log in before I made the edit tho'.) Thought I just put some proof here in case anyone wanted to contest the edit or argue that I'm wrong; so if there are any doubts feel free to ask away! ;) AnorZaken (talk) 15:11, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
- This is definitely true. I keep getting them from Urmaug's JP in LA. SarielV 17:04, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
- Oh, there was such statement in the article? Even before I could complete it for the first time (years ago) I have gotten copies of the same scrap. Maybe I missed that statement in the article but yes, it's possible to get copies of it. --Txon Atana - (talk) 02:26, 27 September 2017 (UTC)
Item acquisition 2020[edit]
Warning: Destroying the Enchanted Key before addition to Treasure Hunter Item Collection makes it impossible to complete the Achievement because reusing the Enchanted Treasure Map will NOT yield a second Enchanted Key.------------------ isnt this wrong info? when i got key its automatically added himself on collection now. Not possible delete without going into achievement. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 87.119.179.50 (talk) at 17:00, 25 July 2020 (UTC).
- It wasn't the case in the early days when it got released, it had to be added to the collection manually. Maybe they made a sneaky change and it went unnoticed. Txonä Atan - (talk) 18:11, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
Limitation per character or account[edit]
Can anyone clarify this statement on the page with the limitation whether it is per character or per account? "Once you have found the Enchanted Key, the Enchanted Treasure Map and all subsequently found Enchanted Treasure Map Scraps have no value except to sell them to a vendor.
