Larano
Larano was an explorer from Ascalon that was hired by Curator Ruras along with Kane and Chessa to act as a bodyguard for an expedition to find ancient Elonian artifacts for the Ascalon Athenaeum museum in Rin. He, along with the rest of the expeditionary crew, died from the sulfur in the Desolation. Post-death, they were hunted by Margonites, and later by Palawa Joko's ghost eaters. After Nightfall, the group had settled in the Lair of the Forgotten with other lost souls.

Dialogue[edit]
- (only if Junundu Rising has finished)
- What's the most fun you can have with wurms and sulfur crystals? Stick around—the Forged and Awakened are about to find out.
- (only if Junundu Rising hasn't started yet)
- Hanging out at the Watch isn't so bad. Chessa and Kane are good company, and the occasional junundu visit keeps things interesting.
- Why don't you take the battle to the Forged and Awakened?
- Yes, I can see it now: dozens of ghosts versus thousands of warring minions. And they call *me* silly!
- I'm sure you're called a lot of things.
- Dozens? I see your point.
- It's not much, but the ghosts of the Lair have been my family longer than anyone else. I can't imagine being here without them.
- I have another question.
- Uh... I've gotta go. 'Bye.
- (always available)
- What do you know about junundu wurms?
- I know that activating the lures brings them in droves. The Awakened and Forged won't have a clew. Get it? A group of wurms is called clew. Pretty clever, huh?
- (only if Junundu Rising has finished)
- Terrible. How'd you come up with this plan?
- Kane remembered the old junundu lures that the Forgotten left behind. And since the enemy of our enemy is a giant wurm, we're trying to make friends in low places.
- I have another question.
- Uh... I've gotta go. 'Bye.
- How do you handle sulfur crystals?
- Sulfur crystals are a bit tricky. They form quickly, but disappear back into the haze within minutes, makim them ephemeral.
- I have another question.
- Uh... I've gotta go. 'Bye.
- You seem cheery for a ghost.
- I try. Why stick around if you're not having fun? Kane and Chessa have put up with me for centuries, so it can't be that bad.
- Try me. Do you have a joke about ghosts?
- What do you call something that causes ghosts nothing but pain for hundreds of years?
- Palawa Joko, the Scourge of Vabbi.
- No, it's Spectral Agony! Get it? Because the mursaat are old...and ghosts are specters...and... . All right, that one needs work.
- Can't disagree with that. Another question...
- I've heard enough. Good-bye.
- Let's hear a joke about the Forged.
- If the Forged travel to Vabbi, what will they encounter?
- A stiff resistance that results in an intense battle, I imagine.
- A rude Awakening! That's what they'll find. Ah, if I wasn't dead, I'd slay myself.
- Can't disagree with that. Another question...
- I've heard enough. Good-bye.
- Uh... I've gotta go. 'Bye.
Notes[edit]
The Guild Wars Wiki has an article on Larano. |
- His dialogue options depend on whether Junundu Rising meta has taken place: before the event starts, players will have three options to choose from, after the event only two. However, within the second option, players will have two options after the event, not just one as prior. The initial text in the dialogue box differs as well.
