User:Akala/Easy Core Mastery Points

From Guild Wars 2 Wiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

This is a list of Core Tyria mastery points that should be easy to get for newer players and without requiring Living World Season 2, to at least get enough points for the whole Pact Commander and Fractal Attunement mastery tracks, which are the most important ones to get. You need 30 mastery points to complete the two tracks mentioned above.

More examples can be found in Dak's guide, and the full list is available here but those are the ones I selected to be the most approachable.

Hero Achievements (9 points)[edit]

The first nine following achievements are obtained by simply doing the story and reaching max level. The last one (Dungeons Discovered) simply requires you to complete each Dungeon's Story path. These are usually rather easy to do with a small party albeit can take a bit of time. There are easier achievements on this page, but it is still within the realm of feasibility that this page is designed for. Note that the last dungeon's (The Ruined City of Arah) story path is now automatically completed when you finish Chapter 8 of the Personal Story and is not accessible with a party anymore.

Mastery Insights (9 points)[edit]

Mastery Insights are just places in the world where you go and interact with a shiny object, similarly to Vistas, indicated by a grey mastery point symbol Mastery point (Central Tyria).png until completed. These can all be reached on foot, without the use of mounts nor glider.

Hard (but actually easy) World Bosses (2 points)[edit]

These two World Bosses appear on a set timer, which can be checked on their respective pages, or on the Event timers page under the Hard World Bosses category. Despite being categorized as "Hard" world bosses, these days just showing up and following the chain of events should be enough . Note that Tequatl technically has some mechanics to follow, which you can check on his page, however most of the time there are already people handling it. For Karka Queen, try to show up a bit early on the map as it dies very quickly now.

Category Achievement Description
Bosses.png Bosses Karka Queen Killer Defeat a Legendary Karka Queen on Southsun Cove.
Tequatl.png Tequatl Slaughter in the Swamp Defeat Tequatl the Sunless.

Triple Trouble (5 points)[edit]

Triple Trouble is the third "Hard World Boss", and this one deserves its title. While the previous two can be handled by any randomly assembled group of people, Triple Trouble requires much more (and precise) coordination. As such, this event is not always ran and people usually organize dedicated runs for it. You can find a lot of information about this event on the TT Discord website, which is maintained by The EU Triple Trouble Discord team. I am not sure as of now whether or not there is a similar discord for NA players, but I think this event is more often ran on NA without the use of a Discord server.

The three "Wurmslayer" achievement require you to complete the event from each of the three heads, thus they can be done over 3 days by simply going with each group (one group per head). The "Wurmicidal Maniac" achievement requires you to finish the event completely at least once.

Finally the "Triple Trouble" meta achievement (requiring you to complete all 10 achievements related to Triple Trouble) is worth mentioning here too. It is not too difficulty to achieve if you are actively working on the other achievements in this category, as most of these are either part of how you deal with each wurm's mechanics, or a small thing to do during the event (which most commanders will call out during the run). It might take a few more runs to get them all as most can only be done while participating in one specific wurm's event, but it is very achievable.

Category Achievement Description
Bosses.png Bosses Amber Wurmslayer Kill the amber head of the great jungle wurm in Bloodtide Coast.
Bosses.png Bosses Cobalt Wurmslayer Kill the cobalt head of the great jungle wurm in Bloodtide Coast.
Bosses.png Bosses Crimson Wurmslayer Kill the crimson head of the great jungle wurm in Bloodtide Coast.
Triple Trouble.png Triple Trouble Wurmicidal Maniac Successfully decapitate the great jungle wurm in Bloodtide Coast and defeat all three of its heads (does not count toward Triple Trouble meta-achievement).
Triple Trouble.png Triple Trouble Triple Trouble Complete 10 great jungle wurm achievements in Bloodtide Coast.

Easy but a bit long Achievements (3 points)[edit]

These three achievements are rather easy to do and can be done at (almost) any time, they just require to dedicate a bit of time to do them. They can be made a lot easier to complete by using a marker pack with Blish HUD's Pathing module.

The Hidden Garden Jumping Puzzle can be accessed by killing one of four specific enemies in Mount Maelstrom, see the puzzle's page for locations. These enemies will spawn a portal for about one minute that allows you to access the puzzle's area, and reset about every 15 minutes.

The Retrospective Runaround Jumping Puzzle is rather straightforward but is rather long one. Note that you need to do the puzzle in its entirety as you need to go through each milestones.

Finally, Lion's Arch Exterminator is a little hunt all over Lion's Arch to kill Karka Hatchlings with a (provided) special rifle. The ingame achievement provides hints for their location, and they can be detected by a very specific chittering sound they make when in proximity. It is recommended however to use the wiki page and/or a marker pack to more easily find them. Note that a few of them can only be reached when it is night time in Lion's Arch.

Category Achievement Description
Jumping Puzzles.png Jumping Puzzles Hidden Garden Complete the jumping puzzle.
The Silverwastes.png The Silverwastes Retrospective Runaround Complete the jumping puzzle.
Explorer.png Explorer Lion's Arch Exterminator Find Turl Sharptooth in the Commodore's Quarter, and use one of his special rifles to deal with the karka hatchling infestation.

Fractals (10 points)[edit]

Fractals of the Mists are a series of mini-dungeon, each with their own mechanics, and part of Guild Wars 2's endgame. The wiki page for them provide a lot of details of what they are, but for the purpose of this article, the main things to remember are the following.

Each fractal level is its own mini-dungeon, with various enemies, objectives and mechanics. They are split in four tiers, each tiers ramping up the difficulty and adding mechanics, but here we are only interested in Tier 1, which are doable by (and designed for) beginners. All of these achievements can be done in Tier 1, some of them you might even get without paying attention. Overall, just follow the instructions of the respective achievement to obtain the mastery point. You can always make a group using the ingame LFG tool asking for doing these specific achievements, there are usually people for doing those.

There are a few other fractal achievements that grant a mastery point, however they can be a bit more tricky to do, thus I am leaving them out of this section.

The only one that is unclear from its description is "Take a Bow", which can be done as follow (from the Cliffside Fractal page):

Once the final seal has been broken the Colossus will break his chains and walk away from the cliff. Once he is on his way, he will turn around and bow to the players. To obtain the achievement, use the /bow emote to bow to the Colossus in return. The timing is quite lenient - if you start to bow as he is walking away then you may be too early but you can simply repeat the emote until the achievement is received.

Fractals of the Mists (achievements).png Fractals of the Mists Take a Bow You and the captured colossus of the Cliffside Fractal share a moment of respect.
Fractals of the Mists (achievements).png Fractals of the Mists The Floor Is Lava. Don't Step In It. You've completed the Volcanic Fractal inside the Fractals of the Mists without falling in the lava.

Note: This section could probably be expanded to more details about each achievement, this might get updated later on.

Medium Difficulty Fractals Achievements (4 points)[edit]

These achievements can be a bit more tricky to do and might require a few tries. However they can still consistently be obtained as long as you make a party specifically for them.

Fancy Footwork[edit]

The infamous Swampland Fractal and its traps asks you to... not trigger any of these traps. There are a bunch of bear traps and tripwires all over the first part of the fractal as well as in the corridor leading to the mini-boss. These can be quite hard to see, especially when trying to run away from enemies to bring back the wisps. Using a marker pack from Blish HUD (Tekkit's marker pack works) helps immensely as it shows the location of all traps as well as a safe path to bring back each wisp.

Flawless Fins Foil Foes[edit]

The beloved Aquatic Ruins Fractal asks you to not be captured by the kraits while doing the Dolphin Path. There are two possible paths for this fractal, Dark Path and Dolphin Path, changing each day, and you can only get this achievement when it is Dolphin Path. Early in the fractal, after rescuing the two fishermen, you will get to either of these paths. Read up on the fractal's page for more details, but Doplhin Path transforms you into a doplhin and you have to rush onwards to escape hidden kraits. Using the first skill Echo will allow you to reveal these kraits as well as water spirals which will recharge the cooldown of the Stealth skill by 10 seconds. Once again, using a marker pack with Blish HUD can help a lot to figure out the shortest path to get through this.

Weapons Tester[edit]

The Molten Furnace Fractal is a rather easy fractal overall, but this achievement can be a bit tricky to get and might take a few tries. At the end of the fractal during the boss fight, there will be several AoEs, fire tornadoes and shockwaves. Focus on dodging all of these, as you need to not get hit by any of them. It can be a good idea to have at least 2 players focusing on dealing damage to the different enemies/the thermal core while the rest of the party focuses on getting the achievement by dodging everything.

Subject 6 Deep-Sixer[edit]

The Thaumanova Reactor Fractal can be rather confusing for new players, and I would recommend reading up the corresponding page to understand better how each room works. Here we will only focus on the Subject 6 room, in the north-east of the fractal. Randomly during the fight, Subject 6 will get the buff Shield Form, and change its shape into a shield-like form. During this, hitting Subject 6 will make it gain Overload stacks, up to 20, at which point it will explode, dealing heavy damage (and failing this achievement). The goal for this achievement is to make Subject 6 gain 19 stacks of Overload exactly, let Shield Form expire, and then kill it quickly. Allegedly, condition damage and damage from pets do not count toward gaining stacks, however I would still recommend disabling any pet and avoiding condition damage, just in case. This requires a good amount of coordination, communication and paying attention from the party, and be made more easily with fast auto-attacks/skills that do a reliable amount of hits.

Fractals of the Mists (achievements).png Fractals of the Mists Flawless Fins Foil Foes As a dolphin, you evaded capture by the krait while swimming through the Aquatic Ruins Fractal.
Fractals of the Mists (achievements).png Fractals of the Mists Weapons Tester Destroy the thermal core without being struck by any molten weapon attacks in the Molten Furnace Fractal.
Fractals of the Mists (achievements).png Fractals of the Mists Subject 6 Deep-Sixer Defeat Subject 6 after causing it to gain maximum stacks of overcharge possible without exploding in the Thaumanova Reactor Fractal.

Not Very Hard but Very Annoying Achievements (8 points)[edit]

This last set of achievements is technically not very hard, but can be quite annoying to do for multiple reasons such as heavy RNG. I would not prioritize these, but if for example you already have some progress on some of them, or are farming Silverwastes, then maybe keep an eye out for them.

Koutalophile[edit]

This achievement requires you to collect various spoons throughout the Core Tyria maps. You first need to purchase the Collectible Spoon Box for 10 silvers from Legendary Collector Youngblood in Lion's Arch to enable this collection. The achievement's page has a tracker and details on the location of each spoon. Most of them come from heart vendors, but there are a few notable exceptions:

Ruler of Shinies[edit]

The event needed for this achievement can only appear if the meta event Sandstorm in Dry Top reaches Tier 4. The map is not extremely popular these days but there are usually enough people in it to reach Tier 4 during peak hours. I would recommend checking out the map from time to time to see if it looks like Tier 4 will be reached.

Go for the Gold[edit]

This achievement requires you to collect 30 badges spread in The Silverwastes. While easy on paper, most of these badges are within the Retrospective Runaround jumping puzzle, and some can be rather hard to reach (but not impossible) without the help of a glider and/or mounts. If you enjoy this kind of achievement, then this one might be a good target, but beware that it can get quite infuriating.

The Be-All and the End-all[edit]

The last 5 achievements require you to kill some specific Legendary enemies in The Silverwastes, the last one being granted when you obtain the other fours. These can be quite RNG to obtain and thus are not recommended to aim for, however if you enjoying farming Silverwastes, or just pass by and see it called out in map chat, you might as well try to get the kill. They are usually called out in map chat and the map itself is quite a popular spot for gold farming, so while RNG heavy it is not entirely unreasonable to get them (or at least a few).

About Living World Season 2 (8 points)[edit]

As mentioned at the beginning of this page, this guide was designed to not have to rely on LWS2 for Mastery Points. However in case you do own LWS2, then you can easily get 8 points from just completing each chapter of the story.

Note that there are another 8 points from LWS2, the "episode mastery" achievements (e.g. Gates of Maguuma Mastery). These however require you to complete a bunch of other achievements to get them, including some of what is widely accepted as some of the hardest story instance achievements in the game, and as such are not recommended to pursue just for the sake of mastery points early on.
