Walkthrough[edit]

After entering the instance you can talk to Ridhais for some background information.

When you interact with the Vision Crystal, you experience a vision of Riannoc, the first bearer of Caladbolg. First you engage a fight with the Remnant of a Warrior (the darker side of Riannoc). After defeating him and talking to Riannoc, you have a second fight, this time with Riannoc in his "normal" form.

After winning the two fights the vision will end and you can talk to Ridhais for some final thoughts or just leave the instance.

Dialogue[edit]

Talking to Ridhais:

Ridhais: Firstborn Riannoc was the first hero of the sylvari, undone by betrayal. I don't know what you'll experience in the vision, but keep your guard up.
Talk more option tango.png Everything is ready then?
Yes, the vision crystal will let you see into Caladbolg's memory. Just focus your mind on it when you're ready.
Talk end option tango.png All right, I'm almost prepared.
Talk more option tango.png You'll be here to help me, right?
The vision crystal will pull your mind alone into Caladbolg's dream. Don't worry; I'll keep the drakes away while you're in the ritual.
Talk end option tango.png So it'll be up to me to convince Caladbolg I'm worthy.
Talk end option tango.png I'll be careful.

Upon engaging the Remnant of a Warrior:

The warrior desired only to become a hero.
"A hero is fearless," the warrior thought, and abandoned all doubt.
Magic sword in hand, he set out to slay evil.
But even if he could not comprehend it, fear remained.

Talking to Riannoc:

Riannoc: Caladbolg... I thought that with it in hand, I had no need for fear.
Talk more option tango.png But you were wrong?
Yes, without fear I could not understand my own allies, let alone become the hero I saw in my dream. And so I lost the sword.
Talk more option tango.png Don't worry; Caladbolg was eventually recovered.
That's comforting; thank you. Then, I take it that this, too, is another dream?
Talk more option tango.png Yes, I have to prove myself to heal Caladbolg.
Splendid. Then, let us dispense with words, and I will test your resolve in the manner of heroes!
Talk end option tango.png You're on!

After second bout:

Riannoc: A magnificent bout—I acknowledge your strength, hero. May Caladbolg protect you as it protected me, and may you protect it in return.
Talk end option tango.png Rest well, Riannoc.

Talking to Ridhais after the vision:

Ridhais: It seems the ritual was successful. Caladbolg is reacting to you. What happened?
Talk more option tango.png I met Riannoc as the Caladbolg knew him: both his negative emotions and dreams of heroism.
Caladbolg draws out what is in your heart, hopes and doubts alike... Perhaps it wanted to remind you to let your good outweigh your bad.
Talk end option tango.png I'll need some time to recover. Let's meet back at my home.
