7th June reference[edit]

Should be changed to before 1st June? Martin stated that he said "this month", it sounds like current month rather than "in a period of 30 to 31 days from now (as months aren't always the same lenght)" to me. Lokheit 22:26, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

That's what I think too. I'm not sure I've ever talked to anyone who said "this month" and meant within 30 days. -User Eive Windgrace Harbinger of the Deceiver.png 23:14, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
Normally when people say "this month" they mean before the first day of the next month. However "within the next month" can be used to mean the 30 days time period. On a more important note, who else is excited? Aqua (T|C) 23:20, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
Ah, I had though it was "this month" instead of "within the next month". My mistake then, you're definitely right Aqua. And yeah, can't wait to see what this is. (I really wish they'd change the profession image every once in awhile like they did in the beginning too) -User Eive Windgrace Harbinger of the Deceiver.png 23:37, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
If it's the new profession, then Anet knows that we know, and they're purposely making us suffer from revealing the original profession instead. --Xu Davella 23:46, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
The above post is hereby named the "Xu Davella Theory of ANet Sadism". Aqua (T|C) 00:59, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
June 7th was the safest bet when the only source for the information was this google-translated german site repeating a second hand interview. That's why I put it on the page. Now that we have a confirmation from Martin on Guru that the reveal is indeed "this month" then we can safely write "in May". Chriskang 01:16, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
You weren't mistaken Eive, he doesn't say "within" but "this month". He specifies it was his exact wordin on the link. Lokheit 02:57, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
I might be taking this out of context, as I have only seen/read the sourced forum post link, however, by the sounds of "I saw all the sad faces when I told the crowd I will not show anything new," it seems like it will be the returning profession that's being revealed by the end of this week/month. It makes sense though, however. As the old adage goes, "save the best for last." In this case, "best" referring to "newest?" -- My Talk Lacky 10:17, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Personally, I hope they reveal the returning profession so that all the speculation and arguing can stop. It will be more fun to look forward to the last profession being a new one, instead of a continued argument over a returning one. --Moto Saxon 13:50, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Not to poke the embers, but preferences for upcoming reveals don't belong on this page. Please take that discussion elsewhere. Teddy Dan 16:40, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
A new profession is going to be released today. In this interview Martin Kerstein says that at the time of the publication of the interview a new profession might be already released. | Corvus 11:23, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Guild Wars 2 Seventh Profession: The Engineer[edit]

http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:DcBxycZRq5wJ:www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/4237077+http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/4237077%234237077&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&source=www.google.com#4237077 --203.94.61.143 07:50, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

There is so much wrong about this.
  • The link is misleading.
  • The engineer would be the 7th profession.
  • There is no article to back it up.
  • MMORPG would probably not get this kind of leak in all fairness.
  • It's lacking the typical leak content.
In short: No. - Infinite - talk 08:21, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

[1] says "...watch out for more big Guild Wars 2 news on Thursday 19th May." So, a profession reveal may be? Alfa-R User Alfa-R sig.png 09:47, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

I think this leaked from pcgamer first? They took it down as well. -Auron 10:22, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
I'm going to keep my rants in reserve, at least for the next couple of days... --Xu Davella 10:57, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
I've been looking at this page for a while now and Infinite, you're truly stupid as shit Tollie00 11:21, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Hey! Be nice - attacks and attitude like that aren't acceptable around here.
It's been the 19th here for 21 hours - I personally wouldn't mind an "early" reveal. ArenaNet seem to be having a lot of trouble with their media partners jumping their agreed dates. -- aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 11:20, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
If I'd get a dime for every... Afin, we'll find out what it is in a few hours. - Infinite - talk 12:40, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

We have an engineer! Thank you ANet!!! - Michiel412 13:16, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Also, Auron was right, this was originally leaked at PCGamer from what I've gathered. Now that it is official, anyone can claim the honour of documenting this extremely OP profession that will surely follow the SF assassins from GW1. I know I won't. :) - Infinite - talk 13:32, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Stupid article is stupid up now. Looks horrible. Good. It'll take me a week to get over it. Good profession, I have to admit. --Xu Davella 13:51, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Yay! Finally something new! /dance Teddy Dan 16:31, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, because the mere concept of a gun that fires automatically never existed in any other games before those. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 19:01, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
@Kyoshi : "...a gun that .... never...existed" ==> Engineer already exists in Warhammer Online as an Order's Dwarf character... with different automatic turrets ;o) Grimsek 18:20, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

I was paid to make you miserable for one night. I'm not ratting out my client, either. >:D Teddy Dan 01:15, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Hey I'm not butthurt, I'm just sore assed because they revealed the Engineer before the original profession... Which is exactly what I knew what they would do, just to screw with our MINDS!! --Xu Davella 09:13, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
Um... regarding Layout, wouldn't it be more appropriate for Engineer to be listed before Commando/April Fools? And in the gallery too? just kinda thinking... ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 05:37, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
Once all of the professions are revealed, this article will be considered historic, and shoved out in the back somewhere. I was actually thinking that the commando be put in a trivia section. It does seem to feel out of place where the engineer is below it. --Xu Davella 09:02, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
As per Xu, this article will only serve as historical value (in chronological order, if you ask me) regarding all profession reveals on the official site. This includes the Commando (again, if you ask me). - Infinite - talk 13:03, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
If you look at the Commando (weapons etc), and the Alchemist (elixers) from the german site, and the one anet guy even said in some interview (i found a link on it i THINK in this wiki, on the Engineer trivia section), that they both were gags of the next profession coming... That trivia note may be enough of that "trivia", but I feel it deserves more, as it had GW1 even in on the Commando stuff. Commando deserves more credit somewhere, not just a small note on similarity between april fools professions and the engineer, imo ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 04:26, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
Well it does have its own page here, as well as a similar article on GW1W. They're also noted on the April Fools' Day 2011 page as well. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Xu Davella (talkcontribs).

Mesmer* Upcoming Reveal[edit]

Amg when >.>[edit]

It's been over like... 6 months since the last reveal?! >_<

Gonna take some more time because they added the second part of WoC hence thinking that everyone is busy again. 78.51.139.43 19:37, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
When its ready.. Im sure as soon as anyone outside of anet knows it will end up here, guess everyone just has to be patient, also its more exciting when you have to wait for something. JnewUser Jnew Tormented Scythe.png 19:41, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
Actually you are just letting it get to your head. It's not that important to see another reveal, and it has certainly not been 6 months. - Infinite - talk 20:51, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
5 months --Angelkiss User IcyyyBlue Elementalist Blue.png 21:54, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

Release = Reveal. Please don't kill the messenger (T.T). 68.144.99.199 02:56, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
I got that. :)
Just saying you'll never live it down if the beta gets delayed and, as a result, you end up being incorrect regarding the final profession reveal. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.png A F K When Needed 14:04, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
I just want to point out that they said it was a safe bet, not factually "this will happen before the end of the year." I still am looking forward to the last profession being revealed some time this month (I'm going to assume it's a reworked Mesmer of the same name), but I wouldn't be surprised if they hold off. They made no commitment to the date, just a rough prediction. 24.13.211.110 18:46, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

its not a she, and "she" is not an "M"...--Xu Davella 02:52, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
@ Xu, what has the fact of that artwork not being female to do with mesmers. you obviously prefer the female mesmers but don't forget that there ARE male too :P --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 08:38, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
It... Doesn't look like any of the playable races. It reminds me most of the death shroud model, but it could just as well be some kind of monster. --TalkpageEl_Nazgir 09:39, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
Looks like a human to me. But looking at it it looks quite different in to the last blurred character in the profession reveal. It makes me wonder if they are even of the same profession or that there is just a big difference between the male and female apearence. Da Mystic Reaper 11:30, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

The passing of time[edit]

As of today, this "ongoing marketing campaign" has ceased. I'd suggest expanding a bit and changing it into a more "past tense" article. Aqua (T|C) 23:43, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Rev+elite specs[edit]

Shouldn't there be the rev, and the elite specs 'evolution' on this page as well? -Darqam (talk) 17:26, 29 October 2016 (UTC)

Perhaps, but the revenant wasn't 'teased' like the other 8 professions were; the information on this page reflects information prior to the game's release. Revenant & elite specs were added with HoT, which is where that information should go, imo. —Ventriloquist 20:17, 29 October 2016 (UTC)

I think it would be interesting and useful to have pages for the elite spec reveals which are organized in a similar manner to this page :) MissRae (talk) 17:27, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
