Just got the key from one of JT-12 units in Chaos fractal. --37.47.6.9 15:19, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

Drops from Veteran Krait Treasure Hunters?[edit]

I got one of these from the first Veteran Krait Treasure Hunters (VKRH) I killed in Bloodtide Coast. But, I killed dozens more of the in the same are, and no more drops. Do keys always drop from the first one you kill next to a chest? Daddicus (talk) 19:52, 13 May 2018 (UTC)

Well, I just proved that wrong. :) Daddicus (talk) 20:35, 13 May 2018 (UTC)
The article says these are rare drops from pretty much any mob. It may be the case that the VKTH have a higher chance than other mobs? I haven't had one as a drop from them so far, though. --Idris (talk) 21:00, 13 May 2018 (UTC)
I suspect they're just like all other creatures: some level of rarity. I kill a dozen or so today, and didn't get any key drops. Daddicus (talk) 02:43, 14 May 2018 (UTC)
Just wanted to chime in to say I just dropped a key from a Veteran mob in the Crown Pavillion. Lytalm 15:06, 29 July 2018 (UTC)

Shell Pouch[edit]

No idea how this wiki editing works exactly, but I did get a key dropped from a Shell Pouch (dropped by a champ krait) The preceding unsigned comment was added by 178.116.85.130 (talk).

And I got one from a Champion Dredge Loot Box. They seem to drop from a wide variety of sources. -- Dashface User Dashface.png 14:26, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the info, you two. I've added it to the article. --Idris (talk) 14:38, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
I just got one from a Veteran Inquest Loot Box in WvW. I've long wondered if WvW/PvP loot boxes drop random items from the foe loot tables, rather than fully distinct loot tabels. Adeira Tasharo (talk) 02:13, 3 September 2018 (UTC)

Personal Story[edit]

I'm also seeing these as PS rewards (Edit: "as apparent PS rewards" 06:18, 26 May 2018 (UTC)). I just got one at the end of the L70 PS step "Intercepting the Orb". I also had one from one of the previous couple of L70 PS steps (either "Striking Off the Chains" or "Wet Work", I believe, although I can't say with confidence which). Doghouse13 (talk) 03:11, 25 May 2018 (UTC)

I haven't heard this before. Were they contained within the Bag of Loot, or standalone? I'll keep an eye out the next time I do the story. --94.9.153.47 07:20, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
Standalone. All I got was the one key - no bags or anything. I wonder if it's not a bug, because I then went and used it (on a level 80), and tried to drop another by killing krait. After about 20 I gave up - nothing. And I note that, whilst it may be coincidence, the last PS step, at least, had me kill WELL over the requisite 10 krait...Doghouse13 (talk) 12:00, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
Stupid question, are you sure it wasn't just the daily key from the daily "Kill 10 krait" achievement? I'd be very surprised if they actually removed the Bag of Loot (container) drop. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 16:51, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
It was definitely in place of the normal (previous?) PS step reward (at least as far as the timing of the notification: big shield etc. pops up centre-screen, you get told about your reward.) It appeared as an icon in its own right. It wasn't in a chest (as the normal daily drop is) - it went straight to inventory. And I didn't receive any other loot as a story reward that I was notified of in the usual, conspicuous way. But I DO have multiple "Bags of Loot" in inventory on that character, which may be suggestive; I tend to clear my inventory out in a particular way regularly, and opening loot bags is definitely part of that, so it's definitely possible that I received them at step end and missed any notification in chat that I'd been given them - I tend not to be particularly sensitive to text in the chat window, tbh. And, yes, I'd already alluded to the fact that I'd killed plenty of krait along the way - I find that suspicious - but I definitely didn't get told about it until step completion (which seems odd if that were the cause). Whatever - I'll be doing another krait-related PS step after the next one ("The Battle of Fort Trinity"); I'll make a point of keeping a more watchful eye on how events pan out.Doghouse13 (talk) 22:28, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
UPDATE: Didn't work. Unfortunately, because of the fine detail of the story, any "krait" in the last 2 L70 PS steps are not, technically, krait; rather, they're undead. So they don't (couldn't) count towards the Daily. And after this, it's off to Orr, so that's not going to change any time soon. So whilst it seems likely that I got the keys by consequence of unintentionally also completing the daily, and that the display was more of an artifact than a change per se, I suspect that I've passed the PS steps in which I can check that out (on my current sub-L80 character at least). And I've also passed the point at which I can check whether I actually received the Bags of Loot that were the step rewards in the past. Ah well. Doghouse13 (talk) 06:04, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for carefully watching. I'll drag a character through the story this long-weekend and see what I can find out. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 08:50, 26 May 2018 (UTC)

Sunken Chest per Day Limit ?[edit]

I accumulated 6 keys and opened 3 chests in a row (that I had not yet opened in the Master Diver achievement) but could not open a 4th. I believe I will be able to open 3 more once 24 hours have elapsed. More to follow. Separ (talk) 01:19, 6 June 2018 (UTC)

The devs said that it's bugged and they're looking into it. --Imry 01:26, 6 June 2018 (UTC)

Must open 10?[edit]

I have opened the same chest twice in the same session (and there were 8 left to open for the achievement), so the statement that you must open all 10 before you can reopen has been false in the past.

However, there was a fix applied for some issues, and my "test" occurred before those fixes. I have not tested this after the fixes because it's a waste of a key, and these keys are just too hard to get to waste one.

I would like someone to confirm that IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES, it is impossible to reopen a chest until the others have been opened in a cycle. Someone holding to the "must open all 10" statement needs to test this. I suspect it will cost a key, because I suspect it will work. (NOTE: You might have to rezone before being able to re-open a chest.) Daddicus (talk) 15:44, 21 July 2018 (UTC)

Just got one key from killing a gargoyle in the Mad King's Labyrinth, proof here. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.114.165.82 (talk).

They can drop from any enemy, which includes the ones in the Lab. Still, congrats on the drop! —Ventriloquist 19:46, 24 October 2018 (UTC)

Game link seems incorrect. While trying to go to wiki from game, code seems to be [&AhrdVQEA]. --Aaydar (talk) 22:50, 12 September 2022 (UTC)

[&AhrdVQEA] is code for a stack of 26 of those keys, weren't you by chance trying with a stack? The code we have works correctly for me. DJemba (talk) 09:11, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
