wolves look so much cooler in this, the top half of the wolves' body was way too large compared to the bottom in gw1--121.222.50.179 03:19, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
Definitely going to be one of the norn starter pets Xunlai Agent 14:13, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
Amphibious?
Amphibious just means it can be out both land and water... There's also terrestrial for land-only, and aquatic (figure that one out). ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 00:03, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Different skins?[edit]

will the wolves (and other animals) have various skins, even if its just a change in the colour, like will there be white wolves too? Eculiny 05:57, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Most likely. Konig/talk 06:00, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

PvP only? Really[edit]

Why is it that the wolf is ONLY available in WvW? That's very unfair to those of us who have no interest in PVP at all. I've been in EB for the past hour and keep getting ganked and everything else, all because I just want to charm a wolf. That's stupid...hasn't ANet learned to keep PVP and PVE separate?! 72.135.17.128 20:19, 23 September 2012 (UTC)

Oh come on, don't cry now. it's only a pet. I have no interest in PvP either but I timed it right and got there when nobody else was paying attention. View it as a challenge! :-) 192.168.104.79 20:58, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
That logic only worked in GW1, where the difference between pets was entirely cosmetic. In GW2, almost all pets have a unique special skill, and the Wolf is one of them. AoE Fear is a powerful tool, and no other pet in the game can do that. Besides, there's only ONE location in Eternal Battlegrounds that you can tame a Wolf (as far as we know) - and it's halfway between Red and Blue, at a frequently contested supply camp. What happens if my world is playing Green for the week? I'm shit out of luck unless we're just doing really amazingly good. Even if I'm on Red or Blue, maybe my team is doing poorly and we've lost control of Umberglade Woods. What am I supposed to do then? No one in WvW other than maybe guildies is going to go on a suicide mission with me just to tame a Wolf. The Ranger doesn't get stealth like the Thief, so running around in enemy territory alone is rather dangerous. We're not particularly mobile either: our passive run buff is only 10%, and we can't maintain Swiftness permanently without bending over backwards. We don't even get teleports or shadowsteps.
Finally, it's a waste of everyone else's time to go to WvW just to tame a Wolf. You're not contributing to the team, and that spot in the hours-long queue that you took could have gone to a Commander or something. I wouldn't be nearly as irritated if Eternal Battlegrounds didn't have a long queue pretty much all the time. As it is now, though, I think it's really unfair to have to wait for non-peak hours and then pray that my team holds Umberglade Woods...just to get a pet. The thing is, some guy forced to go there for the wolf is taking up a slot that an actual WvW could use instead. People who goto WvW should go to stay and do WvW, not to walk around to try and get some map point or pet, sometimes repeatedly getting killed in the process when someone notices they are trying to get just that and camp the spot. It makes sense if you view it as a nod to GW1, where wolves were the default pet for PvP characters. Personally I think requiring WvW for world map completion is more unfair to PvEers than a pet. 96.39.120.89 17:55, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
It especially doesn't make sense when you consider that dungeons aren't required for world completion. :\ Vili 点 User talk:Vili 18:23, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

Juvenile Alpine Wolf in Lornar's Pass[edit]

I found a new location for the Juvenile Alpine Wolf. It is a different wolf, but it is the white colour. You can get yourself a white wolf in the Silverpeak Mountains. The one I found was in the Godspurs directly east of the Pinacle Enclave Waypoint. It is just over a small rise, before you meet a group of aggressive wolves.

The Alpine Wolf has a completely different special skill, so it's not really comparable. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 12:18, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
See Juvenile Alpine Wolf, that location is already documented. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 15:09, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
