Feedback 2017/10/10: About last step on raptor, 3 points[edit]

Dears, I just did it and I believe I have useful information, the first two points being a potential help for those who are not very good at mounting (me) and/or suffer motion sickness (me again). >>1) I have never needed to target the beast. I did simply run over it the 3 times (literally) when I was faster and able to overtake. It worked trouble free. >>2) I cut curves all the time, making my path a lot more straight and shorter than what the beast was doing. Combined with speed boost, I was winning on it very fast. Twice, I was higher than it was and jumped on it, winning. Thanks to cutting curves, my path had therefore a very minimized "slaloming" what did prevent start of motion sickness. I was very thankful for that. >>3) For me, by default from the game, the special action key is activated by the key "-", not by the "Tab". Are you sure about "Tab"? --Tilu (talk) 06:37, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

The advice of using Tab is not to activate the Special Action, but to quickly target the animal beasts in the area so they can be leeched and give the speed burst to catch up with the Beast. --Rognik (talk) 22:07, 10 October 2017 (UTC)
Ah ok, thanks for clarifying. As said above, I have not needed to target the beat or any enemies. I was just running close to them or over them and the skill was working just like that. I suppose it is because I have the option auto-targeting on. It was very comfortable not to bother about targeting.--Tilu (talk) 04:54, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

Feedback 2017/10/15[edit]

While the Awakened Recruits do not regenerate health on their own, you can heal them. As an elementalist attuned to Water I was able to keep them at full health for every encounter. I enjoyed this enough to go back and do it a few times to see what the mummies were capable of. Good times. Feedback 2017/10/15[edit]

Enemy of My Enemy Seek the aid of Troopmarshal Olori Ogun.

  • Proceed to the encampment. (disappears after you talk to the troopmarshal)
  • Speak with Troopmarshal Olori Ogun.
  • Gather Troopmarshal Olori Ogun's newly Awakened recruits.
  • Lead the Awakened assault on the foundry.
  • Find a way up to the portal platform.
  • (missed a few)

Seek the aid of Beastmarshal Oluwa Eranko (appears after talking to your team before leaving the instance)

  • Meet your guildmates at the Beastmarshal's encampment in Vehjin.

Notes from the instance: One of the two Awakened Archer's at the gate to the compound says, "Arkon, sir. Welcome. You honor us with your presence." Sometimes this is the left guard, sometimes it's the right guard.

BUG: if you walk away from the troopmarshal too early in the conversation, the mummy controlling skills don't appear on your bar. You'll need to restart the instance to get them back (char select). I did this once but haven't tested again.

BUG: If you swap to personal skills then return to the mummy-controlling skills, your F1-F4 skills and your 6-0 skills stay available. This allows you to heal the mummies for example. However, you'll not be able to obtain the Master of Mummies achievement if you do this.

You can order mummies to take out the Forged Sharpshooters on the Westernmost platform that you cannot easily reach. They will mysteriously port to it if ordered. However, I was never attacked by those mobs so there may never be a reason to engage them.

Respawn: Mummies respawn, but not all of them and not at once. They do not appear to respawn in the order in which you picked them up either. However, if you destroy the portal and still need to collect the Mummy Legion achievement, you can do so by simply waiting for respawn. Ensure that you do this before speaking to Troopmarshal Ogun. After you talk to the Troopmarshal Ogun, you lose your mummy-controlling commands, so at that point it will be too late to gather additional mummies. Oluwa Eranko: This is too tough for me[edit]

Stuck. The best runs away at the speed of light. I cannot catch it even with a speed boost, because it is way too far away in just a few seconds.161.97.244.137 21:27, 15 October 2017 (UTC)

You must use Grasp of Joko on the enemy mob (Choya, Sand Eel) from time to time to get enough speed boost to reach the Beast of the Valley.
Might need a few tries to figure out the beast's path as well (and make sure not to unmount during the chase, cause you might get stuck in battle, becoming unable to remount until killing surrounding mobs, wasting precious seconds).
There are a few shortcuts (for jackal, springer and skimmer), but you should not need to use them (better to keep the raptor for fastest running). Make sure you have mastery 3 unlocked. --NIN37 23:43, 15 October 2017 (UTC)
I would also advise to start running as soon as you spawn. The beast takes a few seconds to spawn behind you, so you can take advantage to get a head heart. --Idris (talk) 23:50, 15 October 2017 (UTC)

Oluwa Eranko and the beast[edit]

I have a sucky connection which makes steering my mounts... interesting, especially at speed. I was (rightly) dreading this step, because it was impossible for me to complete as described. You can, however, cheat on the race with the beast. Ride the course backwards. Tag the beast three times, it will nice charge towards you and is hard to miss that way! You don't have to complete the challenge in one lap. You can't get the extension of the two extra tags, but you can complete the event. Once you've completed the three tags, turn around and ride the course the right way to trigger the end scene. It took me about 10 minutes of frustration trying it properly and less than five minutes to cheat and do it backwards. Well worth it. Another Eranko mount variant[edit]

I got another response based on mount when talking to Eranko where she says “What even is that thing you’re riding, you have odd taste in mounts” but not sure what triggered it, I was using a custom skin so maybe that, anyone able to reproduce? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kezika (talk) at 08:14, 28 January 2018 (UTC).

I'm getting this dialogue option as well (no matter what mount I'm using, even if on foot). No custom mount skill at all.
Pact Commander has chosen the Sunspear support, if that matters.
Also, please sign your comment typing "~~~~" at the end of your message (talk pages).--NIN37 00:20, 27 February 2018 (UTC)

Split[edit]

I'm in strong favor to split this page into the two missions "Bringing Out the Archon" and "Enemy if My Enemy". While they both together form the 10th chapter, they are clearly two different missions with different names, separate journal entries and separate rewards. I see no reason to have them both on one page. It also would make the page much clearer easier to layout. Balwin (talk) 14:35, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

Agreed. It also makes for strange outputs in queries that expect a single ID per story:
<!--Query written to extract enough data to build a tree-->
{{#dpl:
| namespace =
| uses = Template:Story infobox
| include = {Story infobox}:id, {Story infobox}:%TITLE%, {Story infobox}:next, {Story infobox}:id
| includematch = /¦\s*id\s*=\s*\d+\s*/
| replaceintitle = /\s\(story\)/,
| secseparators = ",": {,"name": "²{#replace:,¦"¦\"}²",, "next": [²{#arraymap:,¦;¦@@@@¦²{#show:@@@@¦?Has story id}²¦, }²],, "id": ,},
| format = ²{#tag:pre¦{,\n ,,,\n} }²
}}
resulting in:
...
"496": {"name": "The Departing", "next": [501, 479], "id": 496},
"501;479": {"name": "Enemy of My Enemy", "next": [483], "id": 501;479},
"483": {"name": "Beast of War", "next": [481], "id": 483},
...
"The Departing" should be directly followed by either 501 or 479; having both implies that they are branching. https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/quests?ids=479,501. --BryghtShadow (talk) 00:22, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
Edit: Perhaps this page has both stories because "Enemy of My Enemy" is also the name of the chapter? https://api.guildwars2.com/v2/stories/75 --BryghtShadow (talk) 07:23, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
I've gone ahead with the split. Please check if anything is amiss with both story pages, since I don't have access to PoF. --BryghtShadow (talk) 09:52, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
Okay, maybe I'm joining the discussion too late... but as you addressed above, the problem of the name "Enemy of My Enemy" is that it is the 10th chapter as well as the second story of the 10th chapter. Initially, this page was about the 10th chapter, now it's about the 2nd step of the 10th chapter, however now we are missing the 10th chapter page.
Furthermore, the infobox template can't really treat this case right now, i.e. Bringing Out the Archon has chapter link Enemy of My Enemy (not chapter page). Note that all other PoF pages have plain text chapters since these pages are the chapter itself.
Not sure how to treat this... --Tolkyria (talk) 11:53, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
Edit: Technical issues have been addressed. Enemy of My Enemy (chapter) has been created with the note: "not sure if this is necessary". --Tolkyria (talk) 18:03, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
Thx for making the split. I think it's much better now. I will check this mission soon, to see what needs to be updated on this page. Balwin (talk) 12:06, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
