Talk:Central Tyria mastery tracks

What's the point of having this page and Heart of Maguuma mastery track if you're going to leave the lists on Mastery? Seems entirely redundant. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 13:33, 9 August 2015 (UTC)

Well this is slightly better than having separate pages for each mastery table :p
I'm happy to replace the transclusions with {{main}} instead, but I figure anyone visiting Mastery, at least for the moment, will really be looking for the individual masteries. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 14:30, 9 August 2015 (UTC)

Are we going to be able to apply our current XP to the Pact Tyria mastery tracks? Separ (talk) 21:40, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

Exp Totals[edit]

Are these running totals or does going from tier 3 to tier 4 in legendary require over 5 million exp on its own?

These are not running totals and each tier requires it's own amount of exp.

Editing the actual tables[edit]

How does one edit the actual tables? i cannot seem to find them anywhere on the wiki.~Panzerov

You don't, you edit the actual pages like Glider Basics and the wiki updates the tables automatically.--Relyk ~ talk < 16:14, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
aaah thanks, i get it now. what i wanted to do was add a total exp needed at the bottom, to clear the confusion about the exp requirement beeing cumulative or not. Guess i can't then.
We can have the template generate the total automatically and stick it on the bottom.--Relyk ~ talk < 16:35, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

Essential Singularities & Hyperactive Singularities[edit]

These two masteries are on the wiki but aren't (currently?) in-game. Unfortunately that means they still show up in the table (and get added into the totals), and I'm not sure how to get them to not do that. Maybe just delete the pages?. I'll let whoever's responsible for these table templates figure it out. -- Dagger (talk) 23:35, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

(Same deal with Exalted Honing.) -- Dagger (talk) 12:04, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
Done, thanks for notifying us. User Noxx Sig.png 12:54, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

Fractal Attunement - Potion convertion[edit]

ok, I'm not sure where this info can go since there's six separate potion pages, and I didn't think to check the values back when I was at fractal mastery level 2...

However, at fractal mastery level 3 (Resursive Resorucing), the "potion conversion" adds 25% of your Agony Resistance to the relevant stat (Offensive/Precision, Mobility/Concentration, Defensive/Toughness), fractions appear to round off correctly i.e. 10.0-10.49 rounds to 10, 10.5-10.99 rounds to 11 --BramStoker (talk, contribs) 01:17, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

Really, 25%? With all 4 masteries it's 30% (e.g. 77 AR -> 23 stats). 10% -> 25% -> 30% seems weird. Guess I'll just chalk this up to Anet being Anet...
I've added it to Recursive Resourcing. I suppose the potion pages themselves ought to mention it too. -- Dagger (talk) 21:55, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

Tracking progress[edit]

There's an annoying "feature" of the Masteries Progress Bar as compared to the original PvE XP progress bar, or even the PvP progress bar: It does not reset to zero after it has filled.

In the past I have worked around this by selecting to a different mastery track - that would then show a partial progress bar indicating how much work was needed to gain another Mastery Point. Now that doesn't work either. I am in the middle of Tier 3 of Legendary Crafting and I can no longer select a different track to work on, although there are tiers to complete in the Commander and Fractals lines.

Of course, there is that little "32" at the far left of the bar, which will tick up when I have enough XP, but often I feel as though it should have advanced when it has not. What am I overlooking, and how dumb am I going to feel when you tell me? --Gold Recluse (talk) 14:19, 3 June 2016 (UTC)

You have to spend mastery points on the tiers you have completed to get more --Gimmethegepgun (talk) 14:36, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
Now that doesn't make me feel dumb at all. If a tier is completed, how do you spend points in it? --Gold Recluse (talk) 16:13, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
There should be an (empty) mastery symbol at the end(?) of the bar in your mastery panel. If you click there you should be able to 'spend' you Tyrian or Maguuma mastery points (depending on which track you finished training). -Darqam (talk) 16:18, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
That does the same thing as the "32" at the other end - it brings up the Hero/Masteries panel. I have EARNED one mastery point by completing content in central Tyria. My progress bar was partial until I completed enough events. Now it is full (gold-colored). I have continued doing central Tyrian achievements since then, so I know that I have partial credit toward my next Mastery Point. I would like to know comparatively how much I have done and how much is left to do. --Gold Recluse (talk) 19:12, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
You don't apply any exp to masteries if all of them are full already. You need to spend the mastery points on something in order to unlock the next rank --Gimmethegepgun (talk) 20:32, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
Forgive me if I've misunderstood, but your original comment here seems to imply that you think you earn mastery points by filling the bar -- that's not true. You EARN points by completing content in central Tyria, such as exploration or achievements; see Mastery point for more info. You SPEND points on a mastery track that's been filled to 100%. --Idris (talk) 16:23, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
What confused me was that you said you were on the third Legendary Crafting, which means that you've already spent mastery points on them, and should know what I said --Gimmethegepgun (talk) 16:56, 3 June 2016 (UTC)

Okay, again, apologies if I'm repeating stuff you already know, but I'm still confused about what you're asking, so I just want to make sure we're all on the same page:

User Idris Mastery track annotated.jpg
  1. Is your XP bar. The progress on this bar matches the progress on the bar at the bottom of your screen. It will be stuck at 100% until you spend mastery points to complete it.
  2. Shows you how many mastery points you will need to complete that mastery track. You are unable to click on this button until 2 criteria have been met: first, that your XP bar has reached 100%, and secondly, that you have earned the required number of unspent mastery points.
  3. Are the mastery points you have already spent on previous, completed tracks.
  4. Are the number of unspent points you currently have. You earn these by doing achievements, exploration, etc. They are completely unrelated to the amount of XP you have. You spend these points at #2.
  5. Is your current mastery rank. This number will match the number in the bottom left corner of your screen. This number represents the total number of mastery points you have spent, and is equal to the number of points in #3.
