Sten Veilshredder is a charr scholar in the Ruins of Rin, slightly southeast of the waypoint. He is conducting research on an ancient Ascalonian warrior named Rurik who fought the charr leader Bonfaaz Burntfur in the city of Rin.

Careful where you step. This is the remains of the city of Rin. The Durmand Priory is conducting excavations here.

Why are you here excavating?

I'm tracing the path of Rurik, the human prince who assaulted Bonfaaz Burntfur's forces two years after the Searing.

What do you know about the other research here in the ruins?

There are similar projects. Jorg is searching for the "Tome of the Fallen." Arae is seeking what she calls the "truth" about Rurik's ambush of Rin. I also have another project.

What's that project about?

I study the ghosts of Ascalon—from a distance, of course. There's an observation point on the wall north of here that's perfect.

What do you hope to discover about the ghosts?

I hope to discover how the ghosts came to be. The better we understand destructive magic like that, the more we can improve our defenses against it.
