The Narrative Team, also known as Narrative Design, is responsible for the overall story structure and lore and the final dialogue in Guild Wars 2. The team works closely together with other teams which are responsible for presenting the story and lore either through gameplay, art, or other means.[1]

Organization[edit]

The job descriptions and titles of the Narrative Team members have changed over the years. The team has strong partnerships with other related developer teams such as the Current Activities Team and the Design Team when structuring the narrative and lore. The team has been involved in the three Living World teams, the expansion team as well as the Current Activities and Fractals and Raid Team since the launch of Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns.[verification requested] The other teams help the Narrative Team fuse the story with the gameplay, and build the story and open world content that delivers it. Due to the fluctuating nature of the subteams, sometimes some designers outside the Narrative Team may end up contributing story and lore for the Narrative Team.[1]

The Narrative Director is the overarching team lead who oversees story development, reviews and revises scripts.

The Associate Narrative Director manages the team of narrative designers, daily operations, trailers, some script review, etc.

The Story Editors manage the story of the Living World since the launch of Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire, reviews and revises scripts, trailers, etc. and maintains the overall storyline and tone.[1][2]
