Lionguard Sergeant Black is a Lionguard officer stationed at Snowhawk Landing warning travelers about the dangers further west.

- Good to see you. Which direction did you come from?
From the west.
- The you saw the state of the pass, hm? Ever since the main road got wiped out, we've been fighting weather and local wildlife, trying to keep the detour road clear.
- What happened to the main road?
- Icebrood, that's what happened. Jormag vomited corrupted ice crystals all over up there. No matter what we do to get the northern road open again, the icebrood comes along and tears it back down.
- Why is that you job?
- If the Lionguard didn't do it, nobody would. We have a vested interest in keeping the trade routes open between Lion's Arch and our trade partners.
I understand.
- From the east.
- I hope that doesn't mean you're heading west. It gets nasty out there. This detour road isn't much better off than the main road north of here. Watch out for jotun; that's all I'm saying.
- Jotun?
- Yeah. Giants with bad attitudes. My granny used to tell me how they were once magical and smart. Not so true anymore. Now, they're just dangerous. We had to route our detour through their territory.
- Good to know.
