Disambig icon.png This article is about a magical phenomenon in Gyala Delve. For the human, see Haze.
The Ley-Line Nexus in the Deep affected by the haze.

The haze is a thick, oily fog that affects the deeper parts of Gyala Delve in Cantha. Prolonged exposure to it is harmful as it drives anyone who gets near the Deep and breathes it in crazy and violent over time. The haze is composed primarily of Tyria's raw magic, and its dark effect looks similar to the Void which consists of the combined magic of the six domains of the All; however, the haze also contains an extra element not found in unfiltered Tyrian magic. The color of dragonjade darkens after contact with the haze.[1] The haze creates a burning effect in the affected being's lungs and clouds one's mind;[2] its twisting effect can be mitigated for a time with the proper use of replaceable jade bot air filters.[3] The oni use the haze to their advantage as they prey on the raw, trauma-induced emotions of beings affected by it.[4]

Gorrik: Hi, Commander. Rama and I spoke with more Brotherhood, and we may have a lead: a suspicious haze propagating in the mine!
<Character name>: If this haze looks similar to the Void, there's a lot of it around here.
Gorrik: Can you scan some samples? Apparently it's making workers ill. I suspect it's correlated with this unusual behaviour.
    <Character name>: I can. You're sure the lead's credible?
Detective Rama: Far as I can tell, their stories check out. Plus, playing the "law" card helped. What they don't know won't hurt them.
Gorrik: But be careful! If true, the haze is likely harmful in large quantities. I'd scan from smaller hot spots, if possible. [...]
Gorrik: Much appreciated! Your readings suggest this haze is composed primarily of raw magic. Very similar to Void. However...
Gorrik: The samples contained an extra element not found in unfiltered magic. I'll run further analysis. In the meantime... [...]
<Character name>: I tested a few jade blocks. Their color darkened after contact with the haze.
Gorrik: Hmm, that would suggest the secondary element imprinted itself on the base. We're on to something here! [...]
Story journal: I explored deeper into the mine, where I was forced to deal with a thick fog dubbed "the haze" choking the air.

Gorrik: Maybe you haven't completely dealt with all your feelings. Or perhaps the haze somehow lowers our ability to cope?
Gorrik: Or it enhances our sensitivity to emotions? Unfortunately, we're going to have to experiment to find out... [...]
Story journal: As best I can piece together from my experience and Gorrik's theorizing, the demon had invaded my memories, latching on to the rawest emotions it could find. It used hallucinations in combination with the haze-induced vulnerability to overwhelm me.
