Yu Joon about Yu Dal-Rae in Deepest Secrets

Yu Dal-Rae was a Canthan commoner who worked as a jade trader and potter.[1][2] She had an extramarital affair with Emperor Taejeong which led to the birth of their daughter Yu Joon. Unlike some previous emperors such as Kintah who had been fond of his concubine Yuki and their son Togo and had let them enjoy the privileges of palace life, Taejeong did not extend the same generosity to Dal-Rae and Joon for unknown reasons.[3] While Dal-Rae only had access to simple materials most of her life, the success of Joon's Xunlai Jade company allowed Joon to gift her many new crafting tools. Joon would later display Dal-Rae's pottery in her mansion, never forgetting her family's humble origins.[2]

Notes[edit]

The vase plaque in Weight of the World implies that Yu Dal-Rae is Joon's mother (Talk end option tango.png Joon was clearly a devoted daughter., in reference to Dal-Rae).
This conflicts with A copy of 'The Kaineng Insider', which states that Joon's jade-trading parent was Yu Anhjong. ("Yu Joon, daughter of Yu Anhjong, a jade trader".)
