I dont know. Ask a wiki guru to make it disappear from the recent edits ? For the personal blog i dont need help, but i will keep in mind what a generous person you are and will request your help each time i need some, from now on. I just feel at home on my user page. But if the plan is to make gw2 wiki a club made by contributors, for contributors, tell me, and i will help you spread the word to other non contributors as well. I don't believe that gw2 wiki is "a club made by contributors, for contributors", but I think what they're getting at is that most topics that you've discussed are simply not relevant in any way to GW2. Talk pages are meant for discussion, not blogging. Sythe 16:22, 4 April 2017 (UTC)

NCC 1701 GW2 style

I had originally intended to post this on the community creations forum but i got banned permanently after i hinted a user who felt sad about home instances that he just have to use the anet apis to make his own home instance viewer. Either that or the fact that i posted a screenshot of current anet job openings when i explained they were short handed. Sometimes i suspect that the mods on the forum are either in panic mode (panic from what, go figure) or got a mental illness. Anyway: this evening i learned 1) to make my own metallic texures (and it seems the trick with the edges can also be applied to rocks texures), 2) how to use the blender feature "UWunwrap/Follow Active Quads" to easily make the kind of visuals anet use for their air balloon on the airships.

Legendary armors - A story as old as humanity itself

I saw it every day for the past 17 years in the industry. As people come and go in a company they are replaced by young wolves with great ambitions. So the first thing a young wolf is going to do is to try to impress. It always end with the requested tasks not being done because of unrelated time sinking irational unfinished sparkly features. And when it comes to art instead of code, what you get on top of that is armors that look like hedgehogs and a mandatory trencoat for the sake of making an fx nobody ever asked in the first place more visible. Does this remind you something ? Yes, that 20 something guy that kill himself doing stunts because he has been feed all his youth by movies that promote the glory of taking un-necessary risks. This is also why you provide guidance to your childs and keep hoping for the best. But in the industry there is a twist: you try to recruit people that have the same mindset than your customers. What then when your target is an immature audience ?

Paying the price of an ignorant benevolence

An institution in my country decided that my ISP was to use the fiber network of its competitor to provide me an internet connection. You can imagine how failed it is destined to be. I see you laugh.... and you're dam right, i'm laughing with you.
My ISP: good equipement, one man did suffice to make the installation years ago
SFR: bad equipement, a team of two men havent been able to install a new fiber connection for my neighbors without *breaking my connection*, twice in a row
I dont even blame SFR, they do what they can with the equipement they are told to use. The man who work for SFR need a job as mush as anyone else.
In the casing where the accident took place, there is still room for 5 more ISPs.... 5, FIVE, F-I-V-E
No i dont blame SFR for interfering with the best provider i ever known for 15 years.
But i do blame institutions that blindly and arbitrarily decide how the user will pay for its errors.

After two consecutive patches, Epidemic is still not working correctly. On top of that it is inherently flawed because if the source of the epidemic dies by the time the projectiles reach the surounding targets, no condition at all is transfered. It's like in GW1 when you were firing an arrow at a long distance without poison then activating poison while the arrow was already flying making it a poisoned arrow mid-fly. Or when you were firing an arrow at a great distance and you would be blinded mid-fly, then the arrow would miss. In gw2 it's more subtle, you are blinded and all the marks pulses will miss even if you were blinded after creating them. Addendum: they said the change to epidemic was to remove some stress from the servers. It ALSO didnt work. It have been years since we learned that massive interactions need blobs tech and factorised computations on a dedicated core. Anet is still at the stage where they think that wasting time optimizing everywhere but where it's needed is a sign of being a good programmer as opposed to just a coder. I thought that cougarism was a recent phenomenon but apparently every adult getting pas 50 will have at some point some adventures... Lord have mercy when i reach this age, there seems to be no happy tales from what i've seen so far !

OPERATION SEDUCTION - Our commanders instructed us to be gentle with the pve players for "among them, there is a futur great wvw player". So they did kind of show us an exemple to follow and after an hour of passive listening we had either a headache or we were bored to death. Lord have mercy of our poor souls. People who work for free are an invaluable asset for anet, and i thank you on their behalf for all the work the contributors did all those years. I even heard some continue to update the gw1 wiki. Work is still proceeding on the GW1W, though at an obviously slower pace than in its golden years.

You've got skills behind a computer and have a perspective I don't share; both are great things which can help out the community here on this wiki. I see that you spend your time in WvW, a game type which I rarely see beyond doing the odd daily. Bring that knowledge here, as our WvW section may fall as far out-of-date as the sPvP section! You're comfortable with images and modelling, and if you can make heads or tails of this conversation then you have me beat.

The wiki was given to us not as a personal blogging space, but as a community asset. You've got the ability to contribute, so I'm simply asking you to use it. G R E E N E R 21:08, 9 June 2017 (UTC)

For the conversation you are refering to, there is no black magic involved. It simply evolve around requesting all the existing recipes through the API and checking wich ones would return a 404 error or similar when interrogating the wiki, and wich ones have a duplicate wiki link, althought depending on how informations are stored server side, requesting the recipes entries might even be sufficient. Now in my country, asking is not the same as to give an order. If it is an order: then remove my account. That said, in everything bad there is something good, this was the occasion to know what a player think or like. An asseptic collection of profiles restricting themselves to keeping track of their progress on their user page would be as meaningfull as taking screenshots of a game and posting them in a community creation forum. If i want to be logic, and knowing what purpose community departments really serve in the video game industry, i have to stop myself anyway. I really have no objection. If you have some doubts, ask Gaile, she will testify that i stand by my words and assume what i say or do. And when i will be gone, please teach her a thing or two on what it takes to make a video game. Regina on the other hand, is truely interesting, you will learn that she began to learn programming some years ago, wich immediately make her more credible in terms of understanding the infos she is asked to relay to the public, althought it will not change the way she is asked to relay it, obviously. T1 Wvw players are a special breed. They have to be pragmatic, direct, and efficient. But if you can look past these trucker's farts, you will discover that they have an extensive knowledge of all the bugs you havent yet listed in your pages (and would strangle with passion the devs 24/7/365). I encourage you to interview the most proficient commanders and their followers (on Blackgate for exemple), they knew ( know? :=) ) of at least two ways to make a server crash on demand. Bye.
