Revert war on weapon[edit]

Hi, until a consensus has been reached on the talk page, please stop reverting the content. It's not constructive to the actual improvement of the page to go back and forth between edits; instead, continue the discussion and if necessary find a compromise.

Also, personal attacks like this aren't acceptable, even if you disagree on an issue, and even if the other editor isn't registered. pling User Pling sig.png 19:46, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Not my fault the truth is considered a "personal attack." There was nothing wrong with the change I was trying to make... --Lustre Of Havoc 19:48, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Calling someone a dick is a personal attack, there is no discussion on that. It is also ad hominem which is also not ok by the standards of this wiki. This has nothing to do with telling the truth. The truth is that you got into an edit war, and didn't discuss this issue with your co-editor. So be polite and get this discussion on a civil level. - Yandere Talk to me... 19:53, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
No thanks, that's the last time I try to change anything on a wiki. Tired of stupid people telling me they don't like what I did. Wikis are for everyone, not just one person. It's not his job to revert, especially when the change was helping people. I don't even know why I'm bothering explaining myself to anyone, humans are humans, there's always going to be the one guy who has to be a selfish dick. --Lustre Of Havoc 20:09, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Yes, wikis are for everyone, meaning that your changes may themselves get changed - it's expected, it happens, and it's why we say "If you do not want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it" on the edit screen. When someone disagrees with you, discuss it with them. Neither of you should've simply continued the revert war.
However, since you're continuing to attack users, I'm blocking you for three days. You're welcome to edit after that's over, and I encourage you to do so, just edit constructively and consider other users. pling User Pling sig.png 21:05, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
All you do by calling someone a dick is to make yourself look like a dick. It does nothing to advance your argument, so don't do it. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 22:50, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
I think that's more than enough "dick"s for one discussion... :P pling User Pling sig.png 18:55, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

personal attacks[edit]

Please don't call people "noobs" or anything like that just because you disagree with them. That's considered a personal attack, and if you continue to do so, you might find yourself blocked along with your friend. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 02:47, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

What am I supposed to call them when they do something stupid? --Lustre Of Havoc 02:50, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
Be civil and don't call them anything. That should be obvious. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 03:00, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
Civility is a luxury we internet folks can't afford. --Lustre Of Havoc 03:05, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
On a wiki, where whatever you type is there for you to shame yourself with later? Criticizing a guy whilst he is temporarily blocked + cannot respond is a faux pas too. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 08:07, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
Maybe it's embarrassing/tactless to you, but not to me. It gives him something to read while he's thinking about what he did wrong. --Lustre Of Havoc 17:12, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
This isn't a courtroom. There are far better, civil ways of letting a user know they're wrong, but telling them to "stop being you and go away" is definitely not one of them. Take this as a warning. —Ventriloquist 18:35, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
It's not like I'm being vulgar, and he's not getting butthurt over it. I don't see the issue. --Lustre Of Havoc 20:34, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
That's disappointing, but you don't need to see the issue to understand the consequences. - Felix Omni 20:57, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
But there isn't an issue, you're just making one because you don't want people arguing. --Lustre Of Havoc 20:58, 25 February 2015 (UTC)
On the contrary; wikis thrive on discussions, debates and arguing. Dissenting opinions often open doors and act as a catalyst for change. The state of this wiki now is the result of 8 years of that kind of arguing - people thought they had the right idea about something, but over time it was challenged, evaluated, and changed. That can apply to anything from wiki policy to page layouts - discussion and debates are always, always welcome.
But it's a fine line to tread. Some people aren't cut out for debating; the idea that their contribution can be picked apart and dissected is harsh for them. The best way to include them in discussions is to make the dissection of their idea as non-traumatic as possible. And civility is the key. You can call their *idea* stupid and without merit without calling the *person* stupid and without merit. The former is fine, and is done all the time (...more eloquently, typically) but the latter is a one-way ticket to banville. It's also a logical fallacy; ad hominem and all that. You were warned by Ventriloquist to stop and banned by Ish over it. None of them would ban you for arguing or debating any topic; but they'll jump on you in a heartbeat for personal attacks. Keep the two separate and you'll go far on this wiki. -Auron 00:15, 26 February 2015 (UTC)
Since you obviously forgot anything you learned by being blocked 3 years ago for the same thing, I've blocked you again. Please make an effort when you come back this time. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 23:46, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Updated your AP for you. Was going to ask you something in game, but changed my mind, so just did that instead. --Lustre Of Havoc 21:56, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
Lol! Don't hesitate next time - I generally spend all my time in game doing a whole heap of nothing. :) — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 22:15, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
Oh, no. It wasn't something I was scared of asking. I just changed my mine on whether or not I wanted to find something out. It's not a big deal. ^_^ --Lustre Of Havoc 22:51, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
