Talk:Mount race

From Guild Wars 2 Wiki

I'm not sure I like this page. We could easily turn the "Race" page, which is currently a redirect, into a disambig page for both the playable races and links to the various race events(I think they different names), or just turn it into the main page with {{otheruses}} on top with an overview or something. - Doodleplex 21:32, 26 September 2017 (UTC)

I'm more inclined to believe (based on pure conjecture and no evidence whatsoever) that, when searching for 'race', people will be looking for the PoF races as opposed to playable races. As such, I'm more inclined towards an {{otheruses}} box over a slightly clunkier disambig. --User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Traveler (talk) 21:37, 26 September 2017 (UTC)
No objection to both suggestions, but Traveler's Doodleplex's makes more sense to me. Karra Archflare (talk) 21:47, 26 September 2017 (UTC)
I think this page should be renamed to "Mount race" instead since that's what some of the races are called. The "Race" page should be turned into a disambig instead of a redirect. —Intricity (talk) 22:17, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
Intricity's idea is my preferred solution. --Idris (talk) 05:10, 15 October 2017 (UTC)

Starting locations[edit]

Here are the missing race starting locations:

  • Desert Highlands, Brightwater Inlet
  • Elon Riverlands, Arid Gladefields
  • Desolation, Sand Jackal Run

Feedback 2017/10/07[edit]

Elon Riverlands npc is called Rahil. Located north-west of Palawa's Grace, near the fork in the road.

Recommended Mount[edit]

For the Halloween race, I wouldn't recommend Skimmer or Griffon because of how easy it is to trigger the random teleport by lifting too high off the ground in certain places. The only merit I can think of for Springer is the increased health pool. I suggest changing the recommended from "any" to "Raptor or Jackal".

For the Wintersday race, Springer and Skimmer are at a big speed disadvantage and their utility isn't needed. I suggest again changing "any" to "Raptor or Jackal", and am wondering if Griffon also deserves being on the list. --- Karob • 21:13, 13 December 2017 (UTC)

The recommended mount isn't there to list the mounts that would win, but to list the mounts that are needed to get past certain obstacles. —Intricity (talk) 21:56, 13 December 2017 (UTC)
In that case, Skimmer (maybe), Jackal, and Griffon should probably be listed for Crystal Oasis, as they work well for the presented obstacles. And I think every mount is fine with the obstacles in Desert Highlands, though I can't remember. --- Karob • 23:37, 13 December 2017 (UTC)

SAB race[edit]

This page probably needs to be renamed again if we want to add it in. —Intricity (talk) 21:08, 1 April 2018 (UTC)

You transform into a Bee Dog at one point, so it's kinda sort like being mounted? --Idris (talk) 22:50, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
I would call it the SAB event a race, but I wouldn't call it a mount race since being turned into a Bee-Dog is transformation, not a mount. It probably could be linked somewhere on the page as having the same elements of a mount race but doesn't involve mounts. - Doodleplex 20:55, 2 April 2018 (UTC)
