Item Type[edit]

What is the Item Type supposed to be for a decoration? Is Gizmo the correct description? Many are being classified as Consumables for an incorrect reason: when you mouse-over crafted decorations at the scribe station or look at the Deluxe Edition decorations from Fion's vendor list, it says double-click to consume and lists them as consumables. However, when you purchase them, this consumable item is instantly consumed rather than placed in your inventory and then transformed into a decoration, which itself is not a consumable. This behavior is most evident from the crafted decorations. These decorations, once crafted, are instantly consumed, generating a schematic entry in the guild's Processing Queue. Once the schematic is processed, a decoration gets added to guild storage. This stored decoration is no longer a schematic, and the tooltip for it does not talk about it being consumable anymore. Thus, each decoration actually exists as both a consumable and a gizmo-esque object, but neither exist independently in the game and so having two entries for each decoration would be redundant--Kojast (talk) 18:52, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

Perhaps, we need a new item type. Neither "consumable" or "gizmo" is really accurate, since the manufactured item, a decoration is "immediately consumed" and never appears in the creator's inventory. There is a similar issue for many things manufactured by the scribe, for example all tactics and improvements, which go directly into the War Chest. ~ 1Maven (talk) 22:02, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
"Double-click to consume." is why I mark them as a "consumable". Also because the item ID (on wiki) is actually the consumable ID. I'm not even sure what the decoration ID is.
Deluxe Wyvern Trophy (v2/items/72687) sold by Fion is a consumable, even though it disappears into the guild decorations storage.
Divinity Lamp (v2/items/70549) on the TP (lowest offer 10g, highest bid at 1g50s) is a consumable.--BryghtShadow (talk) 23:38, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
Speaking as the idiot that put most of them on wiki: I gave them a new classification with a category based on the guild storage categories, mainly because there are so many (and expanding) and you need a way to chop that big list into smaller lists/bits. Where possible I used the ids from the items crafted by the scribe recipes (scribe 400 myself), which technically speaking are consumables, but they are the only items you can actually get a chat link from. —MatHack (talk) 08:13, 13 December 2015 (UTC)

Feedback 2016/01/07[edit]

Edited the max amount of decorations due to this source: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Guild-Hall-Decorations-limit-is-not-2k/first#post5903755 --23.241.218.90 01:33, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

Suggestion: Divide decoration categories by subtype[edit]

Right now we don't have too many decorations, but the list will keep growing and growing, and the current categories will become too large to be navigated properly. My suggestion is to divide each in-game category in new wiki-only subcategories. For example, Decoration/Guild hall/Festivals could be divided between each specific festival. The other categories could be divided by specific decoration types too. For example, Decoration/Guild hall/Architecture could be divided in columns, hedges, flags, etc. You get the idea. I think this would help navigate decorations a lot, letting you see chairs in a single page instead of together with many other decorations the reader might not care about.--Lon-ami (talk) 14:11, 7 July 2016 (UTC)

Feedback 2016/08/11[edit]

edited the max decorations for guild hall increased to 2000 per this link https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Guild-Hall-Decoration-Increase/first as of july 26 2016 --68.185.121.156 08:57, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

Neat, thanks for catching that! —Ventriloquist 11:39, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

Chronological order[edit]

I'd like to be able to see which decorations were recently added. Is that available on the wiki somewhere, please? A list (preferably a gallery) of decorations in chronological order? 88.108.123.99 17:48, 29 September 2017 (UTC)

Better Organisation[edit]

Can we perhaps brainstorm a better way to arrange the decoration data? At it stands it's super-difficult to browse things and especially to find something that you've seen, but don't know the name of. 92.7.70.178 21:18, 12 March 2021 (UTC)

How about using a better descriptions of the items, e.g. Wall, Floor, Slope.
These are better because they describe what the player is going to do with the piece, rather than where the piece came from, which is irrelevant, really, because they can see that when they look at the item's page. 92.20.63.188 16:22, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

I'd like to make a list of craftable Homestead items, grouped by type[edit]

I'd like to create a list of all the Homestead decorations grouped by type: all the chairs together, all the beds together, the artwork, the walls, the plants, &c. Ideally I'd also like to have each item's recipe displayed alongside it, so that when I want to make some chairs I can see how expensive each kind is. So, I have two questions:

  1. Where on this wiki would be a good place for such a list?
  2. Is there a template which provides an easy shortcut to displaying the name and recipe of, instead of me having to write the markup by hand?

- Brian Kendig (talk) 03:21, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

There are a few ways.

I don't think we have anything that "calls" recipe ingredients because if it were used on as large a page as you were thinking of, it might take a massive amount of processing. There are formats for writing the recipes out though, I think you just copy vendors that use multiple currencies. I would recommend the second option, (Decoration/Guild hall/Architecture) though it may be more technical.--Rain Spell (talk) 05:43, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

We do have ways and I'm in the process of updating things so we split homestead form guild hall. So give it a bit and we can have pages like the guild hall ones --Dak393 (talk) 05:49, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
Yep as Dak says, we are in the process of totally overhauling how the wiki stores decorations, with the plan to split gh/homesteads AND adding better categories and subgroups for better overviews/lists. So yeah please wait for now. ~Sime 11:26, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
Thank you, I'll wait; looking forward to seeing what you come up with! - Brian Kendig (talk) 12:04, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

Is there a list of loot-only crafting materials that are used in crafting decorations (for both Guild Halls and Homesteads)?[edit]

Many decorations use crafting materials that are only acquired as random drops, the sources of which aren't always obvious or logically consistent.
Examples are Giant Mushroom Spore, Essence of Light, Essence of Time, and Pristine Feather. --112.199.186.2 02:25, 20 October 2024 (UTC)

Just made it here Crafting material/Decoration. Not sure how to make it fit in current Decoration page layout but already have a link from Handiworker and Crafting material pages. -- Tery.3065Engineer tango icon 20px.png 16:26, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
I am not sure this is the best idea, it will get outdated quickly with new decos unless someone constantly updates it. ~Sime 16:32, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
I though the same thing, trying to pull the sematic data to make it automatic update but I fail to do that. the full query table if anyone interested. -- Tery.3065Engineer tango icon 20px.png 00:30, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
