Dialogue[edit]
- Standing before the exterior Old Oola Lab door, by the hero challenge
- I've been working on this door for weeks, but I think I nearly have it.
- What is this place?
- This is the entrance to the world-famous Oola's lab! It took me years, a small fortune, and an unconscionable number of unsavory acts to find it. The only remaining challenge is to ascertain how to gain entry.
- What seems to be the problem?
- I've tried everything from ether-inversions to plasma-inductions. I can feel the locks weakening, but they won't...wait! Could it be...?
- What? (Causes the door to open, and starts the dialogue for Protect Orl's research krewe. Orl and his krewe will run in to find the second door)
- Of course, resonant-evanescence! I'm such a fool. Correction: my assistants have failed me. Now, step back and behold the fruits of my labor!
- Let's see.
- You can't do it.
- You're an Oola fan, are you?
- Yes, as is any thinking being. She's only the most innovative golemancer in history. Two centuries ago, she was revolutionizing golem design.
- Her lab must be dust by now, no?
- Pessimist! I expect to find treasure: her papers, her design documents, and maybe even a few antique golems. Can you imagine? Oh, the history! It'll be like traveling in time...which I'm also currently tinkering with.
- So, she was some sort of golem genius?
- Ninnyhammer! Have you never read the transcripts of the Trial of Zinn? Genius doesn't begin to describe her capacity for thought. She built an entrance that momentarily stumped me, didn't she?
- This seems to be more than a momentary setback. (Same as "What seems to be the problem?")
- Good luck.
- Why can't you get in? (Same as "What seems to be the problem?")
- I'll leave you to it.
- Good-bye.
- Standing before the inner Old Oola Lab door
- Another door? Another door! I can't believe this! What sort of incredible, unfathomable genius puts in a second door? Bravo, Oola. Now, someone find me the crystal!
- Why don't you go look?
- Dunderhead! I've devoted half my life to finding this place, I'm not going to let some passerby sneak in while I'm off scrounging for crystals. Besides, my assistants have proven themselves incompetent.
- Any idea where to look?
- Well, the lock mechanism is humming, but faintly. That means the crystal is indubitably somewhere in this region.
- Any other thoughts?
- Must I be the one to deduce everything? Some idiot may have picked it up, or maybe a creature swallowed it. Get out there and find it, and I'll share a sliver of the glory with you when we get inside.
- I'll see what I can find.
- I'll see what I can find.
- Good luck.
- Can't your golem smash it down or something?
- Ignoramus! A genius of Oola's magnificence would never employ a door susceptible to mere physical force. Besides, my golem doesn't do smashing.
- Why not?
- Oola had an enviable talent for booby traps and ranged weaponry. I've given my golem a powerful shield to counter her security measures. Unfortunately, the power required leaves little for other functionality.
- So you should go find that crystal. (Same as "Why don't you go look?")
- I'll see if I can find that crystal.
- So why don't you go find the crystal. [sic] (Same as "Why don't you go look?")
- I'm leaving.
- I found this crystal... (Requires Energy Crystal in inventory)
- That's it! You've found it! Quick, go place it in the matrix imprint lock.
- I'll do it
- Good-bye.
- During Protect Orl's research krewe
- Tread carefully. When it came to defending her lab and its secrets, Oola was ruthlessly efficient. As she was in everything she did.
- What does that mean, exactly?
- It means that the greatest brains in asuran history are splayed across the devious defenses Oola built into the walls, floor, and ceiling. Avoid those three things and you might make it [sic] few feet further.
- Why don't we just let your golem fight off whatever we find?
- Unfortunately, nearly all his power is consumed by creating and maintaining that kinetic shield. He can't do much else.
- Might be something you should fix on the next model.
- After teleporting out of the lab once the event is completed
- I'm feeling quite satisfied. My expedition was a success! I've collected enough of Oola's ancient equipment to keep me tinkering happily for years—not to mention making me a small fortune.
- You're selling your findings?
- Oh no. Any golem research gained from the lab is all mine, but I will part with a few of the more historical, less helpful trinkets.
- Show me what you found!
- That hardly seems ethical.
- That's nice.
- While none of the other dialogues are active
- Oola was a genius in her time. Truth be told, she would be a genius in anyone's time! The things I could learn from her.
- It boggles the mind.
