What's up with the dredge?

We used to have a house near here, but the dredge came out one night and burned us out. My partner was in there. I tried to...I tried...she never made it out.

She pushed me away—for the sake of the kids. Thank Bear they're safe now. If it weren't for Gabriel's help fighting the dredge, none of us would have made it.
