Dialogue[edit]
- Welcome to Rata Novus, the city of the future—today! The best and brightest geniuses have embarked on this most exciting—and strictly confidential—adventure of scientific discovery!
- Confidential?
- Our researchers sought a location to pursue endeavors that the small-minded might consider...controversial. This city was founded quietly, and its secrecy remained a priority.
- Tell me more about this "controversial" research?[sic]
- I'm sorry. That information requires Novus Level 5 clearance. I assure you, their research was perfectly moral...assuming your personal definition of morality matches that of our founders.
- Let me ask you something else?[sic]
- That's not vaguely reassuring.
- Why don't you sound like the other golems?
- In order to seem more pleasant to new residents, my speech was prerecorded and implemented with an "appropriate response" protocol. I have 14 millions distinct sounds in my database.
- That's amazing. Who programmed you?
- Why, that would be Researcher Quey, of the College of Dynamics. A fifteenth-rank genius if there ever was one! Pity he died so tragically.
- Tragically?
- Yes. Who knew digitizing sound effects could prove so...electrifying?
- My sympathies. May I ask something else?
- I'll bear that in mind.
