Experimental Envoy armor is an ascended armor set rewarded for completing Envoy Armor I: Experimental Armor achievement, a choice from the Chest of Experimental Armor.

This armor is not the final precursor used for crafting Perfected Envoy legendary armor but a standalone free ascended armor set. Choosing this armor's weight class will not influence the armor type of the precursor armor, which is obtained independently from the next achievement collection,  Envoy Armor II: Refined Armor. As such, it makes sense to choose this armor in a weight other than what you intend to get your legendary armor in.

Crafting the Refined Envoy armor pieces unlocks the skin of the corresponding Experimental Envoy armor piece.
