A precursor is an item of Exotic or Ascended rarity that is required to craft a corresponding legendary item.
Precursor types are:
- Precursor weapon — exotic weapons for the 1st and 3rd generation legendary weapons, and ascended precursors for the 2nd generation legendary weapons.
- Precursor armor — ascended armor pieces.
- Precursor back item — ascended back item.
- Precursor trinket — ascended trinket.
