In the skill tables, can there be a note/link or something to denote that Disenchanting Bolt comes from the Mesmer skill https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Phantasmal_Disenchanter

Actually, a Boon is a very different mechanic from an enchantment. In GW1, when casting an enchantment a character would receive a specific effect belonging to that skill and only to that skill; which ties in how Arena Net described skill building in the original GW, as each skill had to be built individually. In GW2, though, when casting a skill which buffs an ally, said skill will cause one buff among a specific pool of buffs, which are not linked to individual skills which is why so far two skills cause Might Boon). That makes sense considering how skills in GW2 are being built by taking pieces from a large toolbox, instead of being built one by one. Erasculio 23:08, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Why wouldn't it be a boon, we haven't been told how specific they are, and if you think about it, a lot of skills could possibly fit. Even in gw1, Armor of Frost, Armor of Mist etc, I'm betting they'll have a few more skills like that that will necessitate it. Shadowed Ritualist 00:27, 28 August 2010 (UTC)

It doesn't really fit the other boons. We don't have an "Fire Damage" boon, we have a Might boon that just increases damage. LIkewise, I would expect to see a Resilience boon increasing defense, not a Frost Armor boon specifically linked to ice skills. Erasculio 04:03, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
Unless of course Frost Armor was a boon that had a different effect. For example, if it slowed the movement of nearby foes or the attack speed of attacking foes, it may be general enough to fit the boon paradigm. --Emelend 03:15, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Similarly, where did stability come from? I would have thought that anywhere which mentions it would also say what it does (i assume it stops you from being knocked over) and so there could be a page for stability rather than a red link here. Thering 02:00, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

duration stacks but not the effect[edit]

boons for sale![edit]

Rejuvenation and Smiting[edit]

Do we have access to any recent sources that state whether or not these two effects are actually boons? My listing lacks any official statements regarding them. I do know for a fact that Guru's more respected members classified neither as a boon, but they also didn't classify Aegis as one. That said, we have no references backing Aegis as a boon. We definitely require a source for these 3 virtue effects. - Infinite - talk 14:03, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Sorry for double edit, but what is said on official Guardian profession page would also fortify the conclusion that Rejuvenation and Smiting are not boons, or else they'd have all been stated to be boons. Retaliation intensity stacking[edit]

Maximum Duration[edit]

After some more testing, it seems that once you have a certain number of seconds of a boon, any additional attempts will fail to add to the duration. So rather than a hard cap, the highest duration you can build up would be (x-1)+the highest duration a single skill can add, where x is the number of seconds where skills stop adding duration. IDK if it should be put anywhere, but I figured I may as well post what I found out in case anyone is curious.174.60.228.165 14:07, 27 April 2013 (UTC)
All stacking boons/conditions have a cap of 25 stacks. The difference on duration-stacking is that you don't see the stack number, the game just adds all the durations together and shows that. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:17, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

Determined[edit]

I was going to edit the note about some NPCs having Determined to include players in their WvW safe zones, then realised that it doesn't actually function as a boon - it's an effect, sure, but all effects and boons are displayed on the same line for creatures other than yourself. So um yeah, should Determined be removed from the notes, as it's not really a boon and doesn't behave like one? Or should it be left, adding that player characters gain the effect in their WvW safe zones? Ch8ese (talk) 22:11, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

Contradictory and Inaccurate Information[edit]

The example provided here about swiftness: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Boon#Stacking_in_duration does not completely agree with the information here: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Effect_stacking#List_of_duration-stacking_effects . Linking Improves Property "Boons Removed" to Here[edit]

Working on currently getting this page updated to use template:trait list to dynamically update this page when new skills/traits/etc are added. Currently only functions when the skill fact includes "Boons Removed" but won't link up traits that are benefited or improve boons removed. Well, you already found it out, I was too slow typing my answer, but maybe some background information won't hurt.
Thus by design {{trait list}} cannot display improved traits, only {{trait list by property}} can. The template you are looking for is {{related traits}} which calls both templates, try:
{{related traits|Boons Removed|heading=<trait heading suffix>|heading improves=<improving traits heading suffix>}}

New User: So I am curious about any skill that "shares with allies". Does it include the caster as well? For example, Relic of Leadership — Convert conditions into boons on nearby allies after using an elite skill. I am thinking of playing a harbinger with all of those lovely elixirs. They have many effects which I would love to cancel with the relic of leadership, but I do not know if it effects me as well in regards to boon reward. I wish this game would give more detail with their descriptions as there are a few different ways to interpret the meaning of allies. Minions, Group, squad, just people around you, yourself???? Like it is a bit of a vague term in this circumstance. Also is blight included in this?
