- Raven guide you, friend. I'm Valryn Jonsdottir, apprentice to and proud daughter of the legendary scholar Jon Stenar.
Who is your father? This legendary scholar?
- No one you would know. He's a gifted Durmand Priory scholar. He's been teaching me the subtleties of wielding elemental magic since I was old enough to crawl and cast sparks at his feet.
- What brings you to the Snow Leopard lodge?
- I come daily whenever I'm not out hunting. Listening to the shaman keeps me centered. Besides, I owe Snow Leopard my life many times over. I come to show my gratitude.
- Snow Leopard is your totem?
- Mine, my father's, and my entire family's. You might say we're all cut from the same cloth. Though, my youngest brother—he's only six months—is showing signs of being blessed by Wolf instead.
May Snow Leopard—and Wolf—guard you all.
- I don't want to keep you then. Good-bye.
