Terminal Punctuation[edit]

It is a wiki consensus not to use terminal punctuation for events e.g. ".", "?", or "!". --Claret (talk) 12:27, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

But there's no reason we can't have a redirect with it. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 12:41, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Or indeed any terminal punctuation, like ".", just in case. :) --Claret (talk) 12:43, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Should this be corrected too? Scarlet's Minions Invade! . I was viewing at this before I corrected Defeat Scarlet --Blipz (talk) 13:23, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Personally, I don't have a strong opinion, and I thought we did keep it if it wasn't a period - that's why I haven't done anything to the meta event page. But maybe I'm wrong, it's not an aspect of wiki consensus I pay much attention to. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 13:57, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
It doesn't look like we do, although I feel like the event name should display an exclamation mark if it ends with one when we go to display it. We can strip the exclamation point and then include it in the canonical name.--Relyk ~ talk < 14:13, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
It's not entirely correct that you can have ? in a page title. It does work... ish, but things tend to break. Mostly, some pages react as if it's the page just w/o the question mark. So, be careful about those pages. --JonTheMon (talk) 15:43, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Punctuation in URLs can be pretty nasty, therefor I think it is better not to include terminal punctuation in page names. Canonical names however should reflect the ingame name so they should definitly have these. Just my two cents on this topic. - Yandere Talk to me... 15:55, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

Move page[edit]

Are you using "move" when you're correcting names, or copy/paste pages? If you use "move", afaik, it preserves the page's history better. --Claret (talk) 12:42, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

My mistake on that one, I did not notice the move page feature until I redirected about 2 pages. I can see you have reverted back Defeat Scarlet page. Thank you for correcting me. --Blipz (talk) 13:15, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
If you could give a list of all the correct event names, I can make sure that everything is in the right place. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:00, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
I am currently developing my web application that uses the GW2 Events API. Please see here for the list of Event Names provided by Arena Net. https://api.guildwars2.com/v1/event_names.json --Blipz (talk) 14:05, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
What I meant was for the specific events that you found that are incorrect on the wiki, that you performed soft moves of and then reverted yourself (or so it seems, it's hard to follow everything you did). I know all about the API. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:36, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Here are the pages I was trying to move. "Defeat the krait neoss that's strengthening Slaver's Deep" to Defeat the krait neoss that's strengthening Slaver's Deeps and "Protect Crusader Cale as he searches for Dredge weapons" to Protect Crusader Cale as he searches for dredge weapons. I was trying to remove the pages I created for the redirect but it seems its not possible so I redirected the pages I created to the old wiki pages. --Blipz (talk) 15:11, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Fixed. One thing to keep in mind when moving pages in the future, be sure to check "What links here" (under Toolbox on the sidebar) and update any mainspace articles that link to the old page. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 15:17, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Brilliant. Thanks. Sorry for the mess. I would definitely check that out thanks. --Blipz (talk) 15:26, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

edit summaries[edit]

When filling an edit summary, the text between /* ... */ is interpreted as a section title on the page. If you're just typing a custom summary, you don't need to use that syntax. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 12:23, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
