"telling off"?[edit]

All I said was, "if you think it should be done, do it," aka be bold. I don't understand how you see that as "telling off." —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 17:14, 12 October 2012 (UTC)

Lol - you sounded a bit cross, so I covered my arse :D My sense of humour can take some getting used to ;) — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 20:59, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
Well now he's gonna take his belt off and cover your arse with blistering welts. Those can take some getting used to as well. Felix Omni Signature.png 23:19, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
Well gee whiz, thanks for warning him, Felix. :P Snog, I apologize - I was really just annoyed in general at people that can't name their images right, I wasn't cross with you at all. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 00:23, 13 October 2012 (UTC)

Mad skillz[edit]

Hah. It's a recurrent problem that only occurs on the iPad. I edit a section to add a comment, the wiki throws an error 503, then the entire page is replaced with the section I edited. Pain in the arrrrrrse. — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 22:54, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

You awoke me from a 5 month wiki break for this? Also, wut? Meh, my user page is boring anyway - random crap can only improve it. — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 01:41, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

waaaa[edit]

Story mode Arah is actually pretty easy - people mostly avoid it because it's super long, but enough people have done it now that at least someone in a pug will probably know what to do. And people aren't running around at level 80 in blues and greens anymore...last time I did it, the main challenge was trying not to fall asleep. The addition of the PvP Reward tracks for dungeons also gave a lot of people a reason to run story mode Arah again, so you should try to capitalize on that while you can. I've heard it's actually soloable if you felt like doing that, since the only thing you really need party members for is the pressure plates, or something...

As for Badges of Honor, you can actually get a ton of them via Achievement Chests, so it's possible to earn enough without ever entering WvW. Hitting rank 14 to be able to buy the gift was easier to do if you got people a few levels before they consolidated wxp... lots of free bonus chests and boosters. If all else fails, though, you can spend laurels for Taste of Liquid World Experience. That's one rank per bottle. It's a much better deal than spending laurels on Obsidian Shards (how hard is it to earn 2100 karma in a day?). Only other use laurels have for making legendaries is the Heavy Crafting Bag for T6 fine materials, but that's still not a great deal. Three of any of those materials is maaaaaybe 1 gold at most...which you could get from running any dungeon.

Good luck though - feels like it'll still be years before I finish Bolt and Twilight, and I'm almost done... Vili 点 User talk:Vili 21:31, 23 April 2014 (UTC)

thanks for that, Vili - you've cheered me up no end! Nice to "see" you again, too - it's been a long time since we last "talked" ^_^ — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 21:47, 23 April 2014 (UTC)
Shit, lol! Just checked my wallet and I've got 1,052 Badges of Honor that I didn't even know about. — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 20:10, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
See, that wasn't very hard...
Incidentally, I prefer GW2crafts as a guide. Just have to make sure to do it in one sitting, or save the list for later. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 21:18, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

story arah[edit]

I'm running my alts through story mode Arah. I'd invite you to come along, but I am guessing you play in EU region? Which I don't think can interact with NA players, even across lfg tool... Vili 点 User talk:Vili 00:49, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the offer, but yes - I'm in the desolation of Europe :( — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 03:30, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Tables[edit]

Tables are easy, like this!

Header row!
Row 1 column 1 Row 1 column 2
Row 2 column 1 Row 2 column 2

There - I'm quite proud of that. Couldn't quite work out what colspan does, but that seems ok. — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 16:10, 30 April 2014 (UTC)
colspan is optional ;)
Heading 1 Heading 2
Row 1 column 1 Row 1 column 2
Row 2 column 1 Row 2 column 2
looks good though. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 16:22, 30 April 2014 (UTC)
Tut, that explains it. Thanks, me old mucker. — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 16:29, 30 April 2014 (UTC)
You should make the second row a (sub)header. Just change the pipe at the start of the line to an exclamation point.
Colspan header
Name Race Profession Level Skill point.png Armorsmith tango icon 20px.png Weaponsmith tango icon 20px.png Leatherworker tango icon 20px.png Huntsman tango icon 20px.png Tailor tango icon 20px.png Artificer tango icon 20px.png Jeweler tango icon 20px.png Chef tango icon 20px.png Story location
stuff
Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 16:54, 30 April 2014 (UTC)
In the dim, distant recesses of my memory, I do have a vague recollection of the difference between pipes and exclamation marks in a table, so I must have known this stuff at some stage. Never get old, people ^_^ (Oh, and I seem to have discovered "double bold") — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 18:20, 30 April 2014 (UTC)
Eh, is there a way to left-justify the headings? Looks a bit odd, or is it just me? — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 18:24, 30 April 2014 (UTC)

//legendary checklist

Materials Has?
2 Bloodstone Shard (200 skill points each) 1Yes
other stuff 0No
I do not know how to make this compatible with Real Tables(tm) using STDT and stuff. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 20:30, 30 April 2014 (UTC)
{{STDT}} is just putting class="table" at the top of the table. its the same usage. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 21:59, 30 April 2014 (UTC)
That's good thinking. I nicked a table for a legendary just to fiddle, and I thought it would be hard work. All the info is there, but it's a mess. As you say, I need totals. (This one, I mean). Not totally decided on which one I want, though I do love me a nice sniper rifle. Not very lore-y, though - but then again, I'm not Konig. — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 23:52, 30 April 2014 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Actually, I just looked at your code, Vili. It's very clever, but wouldn't {{yes}} and {{no}} be easier as they're already "there?" — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 23:57, 30 April 2014 (UTC)

Actually, I just looked at it again. I have NO idea what it's doing, but it's cleverer than I thought. I think. What's a circle? :D — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 00:01, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
That looks like a {{subst:yes}} and {{subst:no}}, i.e. she substituted the template code into the wikitext. You're right, just using the templates is easier. :) —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 01:22, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
I used {{subst:yes}} and {{subst:no}}, which puts the contents of those templates onto the page. You can look at Template:Yes and Template:No. The main reason to do this is because it avoids linking to the template, Special:Whatlinkshere, and sometimes various categorization bullshit.
But yes, simply {{yes}} and {{no|red}} work just as well. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 01:26, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
Vili: ever the master of translating Ishmael-speak into stuff what mere mortals can understand. I'm not even going to re-open the "she" debate ;) — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 01:31, 1 May 2014 (UTC)
