Template talk:Mail
Cash value[edit]
If you make the cash value optional, this can also be used for map completion mail messages. -- Wyn talk 14:52, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
- I've managed to do that, just remove the 'reward' parameter or leave it empty and it will not show up. I already applied it to Caledon Forest. – Trolloli "I wasn't born, I spawned" 21:22, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
Icon[edit]
So while this is basic, it can be enhanced anyway. I got 2 possible options for the displaying icon(s):
- give a parameter to the icon; mail, renown, explorer society and let the current position icon changed according to the parameter.
- Leave the current 'mail' icon in and have a parameter; none, renown, explorer society and display a 2nd icon under the current mail icon
This to show where the mail comes from (as in game these icons are displayed in the inbox rather than on the mail itself).
Anyway to play around I need that explorers society icon that is displayed (green star-like icon) if someone can make that in a good image. – Trolloli "I wasn't born, I spawned" 22:57, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
Conversion to use a table rather than floaty divs[edit]
picture of what I'm talking about
There were two issues with this template when it used entirely divs.
The first was that the clear:both at the bottom meant that any page with a long infobox at the right hand side meant that the box visible below the bottom of the text would stretch. I could have fixed that by changing clear:both to clear:left, however due to the need to fix the second issue, I didn't.
The second issue was that the float:left on the divs around the mail icon + mail content meant that they would, in effect, perform a clear:both and then start displaying afterwards... this wasn't apparent on most pages but was visible on Capture Points!.
I figured the easiest fix was to just use an invisible table inside the outer divs instead. -Chieftain Alex 15:41, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
Location[edit]
I have seen multiple instances where parameters 'pointer' and 'pointer-text' are used. Do we want to implement something of that sort? —Kvothe (talk) 20:26, 14 January 2020 (UTC)
- The current implementation of the parameter "waypoint" and "pointer" looks terrible out of place: the big interactive map doesn't fit into the mail; the waypoint could use some kind of intro or separation.
- E.g. A Very Merry Wintersday 2017#Mail and A Very Merry Wintersday 2018#Mail.
- Why aren't we mirroring in-game and add the
Show me
button that can link to a location or poi page? Not sure how we can add "pointer-text", maybe with smw:Help:Adding tooltips. - --Tolkyria (talk) 18:35, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- Ugh, using {{infobox map}} in Mail. You monster Buffs ;)
- Agree, let's link to the area page instead of showing a map. -Chieftain Alex 18:36, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- As of today, that template will be called {{mailbox map}}. It is the infobox that is wrong! HAHA! --BuffsEverywhere (talk) 22:44, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
ArenaNet logo for official mails[edit]
I think we should add the ArenaNet logo for official Anet emails, as that's how they are ingame: example. One of the other wikis have it as well. ~Sime 19:53, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
- Yes. There are a bunch of different icons that are used for mails, like the green star for story mails, BLTC icon for gem store mails, the dungeon icon for dungeon mails, heart icon for map completion mails, etc. Link the icon file here and I'll add it. --BuffsEverywhere (talk) 02:37, 24 May 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry for the late respone, I was busy with school. So here we go:
- - basic mail
- - map completion
- - story
- - ArenaNet, giveaways
- - Gem Store (self purchase)
(cannot find this icon currently on the wiki, I posted it in #wiki-editing-screenshots on discord for now) - - Gem Store (gift) (there is also the opened version but that's not really necessary)
- - Dungeon, fractal
- - Raid
- - Birthday
- These should be the all icons currently in use for the mail system. ~Sime 18:20, 11 June 2023 (UTC)
- Ok, added the icon parameter. --BuffsEverywhere (talk) 15:41, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
