just a thought...[edit]

I know that static field 'charges up rifle rounds' blah blah blah - what happens if it is combined with other skills? I wont say what I have in mind in case it might actually work >.< if it does - any1 wanna start a mage/elementalist war in the world pvp arena?

Are you thinking some sort of whirlpool + Static Field? Or Static Field with water trident shot through it? ^^ Would be fun, no doubt. --AmannelleUser Amannelle Me.jpg 21:49, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
That might work. I wouldn't put it past them to think it through to that, considering what they've shown us so far. --Kyoshi (Talk) User Kyoshi sig.png 23:40, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
It may charge all projectiles passing through, for all we know. :D -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted charr sig.PNG (τѧιк) 02:35, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Now what I would like to know is if one ele made fire wall, could another ele put that fire out with water magic such as water trident? ^^ --AmannelleUser Amannelle Me.jpg 02:38, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
That is a good question! That, and ending a Static Field with some earth spell. -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted charr sig.PNG (τѧιк) 02:42, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
The indications say that an elemental 'field' (fire wall...water wall...static field) will allow objects that pass thru them (bullets, arrows, ?swords?, daggers) to pick up characteristics of that field. Also that a warrior with...cyclone axe...could spin thru a fire wall and throw of 'fire bits' as he spins out of the other side. I, too, have been trying to anticipate what combinations of player skills will interact most effectively.Maybe water thru fire makes steam damage 38.126.214.186 02:44, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
I remember now that it did say something about a combo with fire wall + water magic. Where you freeze someone solid and push them into a wall of fire to burn while frozen solid. It was kinda disappointing, really. -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted charr sig.PNG (τѧιк) 02:47, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
That IS a little odd... it'd be fun if they could cancel each other out. It'd be useful in PvP, that's for sure! Here are 2 scenarios:
As they run around the corner, Jack and Jill quickly become aware that they made a big mistake: The area was filled with enemies! Quickly the two of them bolted the other way, trying to escape the oncoming mob of elementalists and warriors. Suddenly one of the enemy elementalists freezes Jack solid. Jill, suddenly alarmed by the problem, turned around and shot a fireball at the now-frozen Jack. Upon making contact, the fireball melted the ice, freeing Jack. Again the two of them continued to run away.

Barricading themselves in seemed to be the only way to escape. Smith sighed as he sat down next to his teammates. The fire wall glowed ominously; the last standing defense between them and the hordes of enemies just outside. Looking through a small opening in a wall, Eir's eyes went wide as she spied an enemy elementalist approaching. Everything happened so quickly; they heard the splash, they saw the steam. Their firewall was completely put out by the variety of water attacks, and the enemy began pouring in.

@Sparky: From what I heard, it was using a Water Trident to push an enemy into a Fire Wall. Apparently attuning to Water also freezes adjacent enemies, but that was a separate thing. --Kyoshi (Talk) User Kyoshi sig.png 04:22, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Here's what I'd like to know: If you set up a Static Field or Fire Wall in order to charge a companion's shots, what happens if an enemy sniper shoots through it at YOU? Zolann The IrreverentUser Zolann The Irreverent Mysterious Summoning Stone.png 20:04, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
I've wondered myself, but there's no such information released yet. :< --Kyoshi (Talk) User Kyoshi sig.png 20:27, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
How about we put a Water tridgent inside a Phionix through a Static Field? >:D --Neil2250 User Neil2250 sig icon5.png 22:18, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
And then use a Giga Drill Break on the phoenix at the exact moment it hits the Static Field! Ah, but that's right, drills aren't weapons in GW2...sad day. --Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig.png (Talk) 00:39, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

Bullets charge up in the static field because they are made of metal. Arrows catch fire in a fire wall because they are made of wood. I think those two examples shed some light on something quite interesting - it looks like it matters what your weapon is made of when you consider synergies with elements.
I also wouldn't be surprised if an attuned ele has higher resistance to his/her attuned element, similar to the elementalist armor insignia we have in GW1, or even some form of absorption, such as the mesmer elemental mantras that give energy from being hit by the right element. Bolts of Electricity[edit]

Anyone take note of the bolts of electricity that the elementalist shoots between casts of static field? Do you think it is a targeted version of the spell, wand attack, another spell, or something else? Something similar in the Churning Earth video also. --Elven Chaos Elven's Talk Page 00:00, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

It seems the attack is similar to that of the one used to aggro in Churning Earth. I wonder if, when you are attuned to an element, there is a basic attack that will take the form of the element to which you are attuned. I mean, the attack acts the same, but resembles the elemental attunement they are using. Just a guess, of course. ^^ --AmannelleUser Amannelle Me.jpg 00:10, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Assuming that those are attack projectiles, I like our new projectiles A LOT better than what we have now :D --Elven Chaos Elven's Talk Page 00:41, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
You just can't do without lightning bolts and stone daggers, or whatever the GW2 incarnations are. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 01:54, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

Anyone noticing that the bolts of electricity are flying back to the caster after they hit? Maybe she's throwing something, but it's probably just a cool effect that does nothing. -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted guided sig.png (τѧιк) 21:17, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

i wouldve said theyre bolts from the ele's air attunement. she's using static field, an air magic spell, therefore must be attuned to air and when she's attuned to air lightning bolts shoot at her enemies as a static effect --Jimmer123 22:10, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
maybe it's just the standard auto-attack with their weapon sets? 90.206.126.31 15:37, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

Category[edit]

It's categorizing under Lightning Field, I couldn't find where you're doing this... also, will you create categories for the other combo fields, and finishers? – Valento msg 17:19, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Found it, categorized by Skill infobox, this skill still has the combo parameter, how about implementing the categorization through Combo field and Combo finisher templates? – Valento msg 17:22, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
{{combo field}} and {{combo finisher}} are used on a lot of pages besides skill pages, so we can't add the categories there. However, I think I can add them to {{skill fact}}. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 17:42, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
