Oil Slick[edit]

So, anybody think there's a chance this will be an environmental thing that shows up in other skills? This seems like something that can be combined with a little fire to make it very similar to Burning Retreat... ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 19:36, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

I would think that if someone has a skill on them that creates fire such as a fire elementalist then the oil slick could be set to fire, but I don't see any environmental skills coming from this.--Elemental Phantom 22:26, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
They mentioned the possibility of being able to set it on fire, but they hadn't decided or something. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 22:31, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
Well I could see them being given more oil-related utilities or so, like a tossable oil canister. When tossed through a wall of flame or a burning area (like from Throw Torch or whatever), it could be like a grenade almost, with an exploding area that causes burning on the ground. I didn't say an environmental weapon or even specific skills (like you would for items on the ground), but another form of interacting with the environment around you through skills. But they have talked about it being capable of interacting with fire-based skills from the Ele, Ranger, or Guardian? ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 00:04, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
It currently doesn't react with anything because the effect is only available to one profession, but they're considering it. Mid way down this page the devs answer your question. -- aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 00:39, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
Anyone else think this after seeing this skill? Vlad Tsepesh 06:10, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
I think that many of the Engineers gadgets may be references or inspired by Data, seems that way. --AdventurerPotatoe User AdventurerPotatoe Engineer tango icon 200px.png - 17:03, 11 November 2011 (UTC)

Goonies reference?[edit]

Well? The similarities between the movie version and the GW2 version are quite remarkable. 72.225.56.229 03:45, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

You are correct. 1:44 of this video. This (and the Personal Battering Ram) coming from Goonies should be listed in the article as Trivia. --Messenger 05:30, 25 February 2012 (UTC)
