Talk:Raptor (race)
I was wondering if we were going to merge this page with a dinosaur page when Heart of Thorn release? Since they were considered as a type of dinosaur in Guild Wars: Eye of the North. Louise 18:00, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
- We'll have to wait and see how raptors are treated in HoT, and whether other dinosaurs are introduced, even. —Dr Ishmael 20:10, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
- Well, we can see two type of dinosaur-looking creatures in the IGN trailer as well as a new raptor skin. But we'll wait and see. Louise 20:23, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
Move discussion[edit]
IMO the mount page should be here. It is likely the more popular page. New players wondering how to unlock the raptor are often confused when landing here and don't find the mount information they are looking for. --BuffsEverywhere (talk) 22:06, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
- Should probably move the disambig to "Raptor", since there's a quite a lot of different raptor pages it seems! That's how we did it with Raven, too. talk 08:00, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
- I disagree about the disambig being the main article. 3 of the 5 articles are related to the mount and I'm confident the unlock item and the mount summon skill are much less relevant than the mount article. --BuffsEverywhere (talk) 08:37, 31 May 2020 (UTC)
- I'm not a fan of the idea since this page has been here since before the game even launched, was a race in the original Guild Wars game, and the mount is a fairly recent thing from Path of Fire. Also, in regards to the new players bit, what I've seen in game and even in our own discord, new players are asking about how to get a mount if you're not level 80/how to get a mount period. They usually don't know it's a Raptor, they just want to a mount. - Doodleplex 15:34, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

2021 move[edit]
Reopening the discussion to move this article following the discussion on moving the griffon article, my argument is the same so I'mcopy copypasting it below.
I support moving this article from "Raptor" to "Raptor (race)". I also propose moving "Raptor (mount) to "Raptor", and leaving the disambiguation where it is because I wholeheartedly believe that most people searching for "raptor" in the wiki want to read about the mount, and the other articles are of very minor consequence. Warming Hearth (talk) 16:39, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
- Agreed
but I can't be arsed checking every whatlinkshere page for the context like the griffon one.50 pages pointing here incorrectly. -Chieftain Alex 17:40, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
- Also still in favor. Let's finally get it done, lol. ----BuffsEverywhere (talk) 22:59, 15 May 2021 (UTC)
- As I view the race more important than the mount, but am not in the majority(unless the others from the Griffon article come here too), I'd prefer the disambiguation page get the base name instead of either page honestly. - Doodleplex 00:56, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- The mount is what people search for. The race is not important to normal players. People search for the mount names to figure out how to get them. People typing in "skyscale" don't want a disambiguation page, they just want the mount. We'll still have the link at the top for the 1% of people searching raptor that didn't want the mount. I think Alex's findings and even the discussion back in 2017 make a pretty solid case for why this should be moved and the importance of the mount page(s). Dak393 (talk) 12:56, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
