would be interresting to mention where to get it The preceding unsigned comment was added by 192.168.104.26 (talk) at 06:03, 28 August 2012 (UTC).
It appears to be a random drop, but unconfirmed. neobolts 04:34, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
It seems like it can appear in any of the 4 locations. The original note here says in the Earth section, however my guild mate found his in the Water area, mine was in the Fire area, and found a third in the Ice area (on the way to the ice converter behind the veteran ice elemental). I took a screenshot but not sure how to upload :) Also seems the water one is broken, or we just haven't found it yet. 192.168.104.79 03:36, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
I heard that the water one is found next to the disorientated Quaggan. 202.89.155.12 07:47, 6 November 2012 (UTC)
I found my key right after the entrance of the water area on the right corner. You cannot see it. You have to walk to it, and then press F. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Yes4me (talk) at 1:38, 13 November 2012‎ (UTC).
Does it only spawn when a event is up in the area? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 99.111.177.229 (talk) at 17:16, 28 November 2012‎ (UTC).
It'd be nice if someone could post some pictures of the locations where it can be found... I'd do it, but I've yet to see the key, so I'm not sure where exactly it spawns. 174.66.165.225 19:52, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

appearace[edit]

So wait. It looks EXACTLY like the "Chaos Shard" items that are littered around everywhere? I hope that picture is inaccurate. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.187.160.165 (talk) at 14:32, 15 January 2013 (UTC).

It looks like a small glowing green rock with vapor coming off it, about the size of the small burning embers. But it is pretty bright green.
I went to use it tonight and it had lost the charge for the Golem 5000, so maybe that charge doesn't go past the event happening again (we'd just finished it again but I didn't know I'd need to click on the Golem again). Locations[edit]

I've been picking these up a lot over the last few weeks, and the list of locations is a bit more than what's listed on the page. For instance, near the Displaced Quaggan there are three spots. One immediately next to the quaggan (seen here: http://i.imgur.com/1hHVlmG.jpg ). One spot across the water from the quaggan, which I *think* is referenced by the sentence on the main page "In a corner in the waterfall area, straight ahead upon leaving the reactor into the waterfall area." But I'm not positive on that, the sentence is rather vague. And a third spot, west of the quaggan in a crack in the wall (on the way up to the water room).

And that's just near the quaggan. I've seen the key in several different bushes in the poison/earth room, and in a few spots in the water room, and... I think the location list needs to expand a bit, with more clarification for some locations (including screen shots of the locations) or general areas. Or something. It's messy. Nkuvu 02:30, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

I just found one on the lowest level of the ice room, in the very center of the room (in the small room-like area surrounded by pillars). Okuza 03:34, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
Made an attempt at clarifying some of this. Would still like to see cardinal directions for the location in the fire elemental room ("left" changes depending on which way you're facing), but have not yet seen a key in that location myself. This section could probably still use help, though. Nkuvu 19:07, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
I found it laying out in the open on the floor of the poison room, as soon as you enter the room make a right and it was about 50 paces in, a few feet from the wall. Idk if this was a random spawn or a normal location but that's where I found it. Nay the One and Only User Nay the One and Only SIG.jpg 17:16, 9 March 2013 (UTC)
I found a key on the other side of the river from the displaced quaggan, screenshot here --> http://i.imgur.com/pQWITla.jpg (feel free to use it however you decide) Raijjn (talk) 11:01, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
There are a lot of links to the internal images in the article, not very handy to use them. Could someone please make a separate gallery page, like a weapon or armor gallery? --109.252.109.171 18:02, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

Unreachable mystery console?[edit]

When you enter the chamber where the Fire Elemental world boss is fought, you can see a purple console on an elevated position to the far left corner that looks like the ones where you charge the Matrix Cube Key. Does it serve any purpose? I cannot see a way to reach it.

Jumping puzzle[edit]

So, I've seen mentions of a jumping puzzle... but this isn't one, right? There's no achievement for it or whatever Kaspar 17:47, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

The ice room is close to a jumping puzzle, with traps and enemies and a few semi-difficult jumps. The poison/earth room also involves a bit of jumping. So they're a little similar. But strictly speaking, no, there are no jumping puzzles in the Thaumanova Reactor. The jumping you do in the reactor does not ever give you a chest at the end, nor an achievement. The only actual jumping puzzle in Metrica Province is Goemm's Lab. Nkuvu 19:10, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Gamelinks[edit]

as of 2017, all gamelinks don't seem to work. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Frosty99 (talk) at 11:08, 9 March 2017 (UTC).

Thanks for the heads up! As I currently can't check myself, I've added a stub tag notice at the top of the page so somebody who is able to can check to see what's up with the ID's. - Doodleplex 18:44, 9 March 2017 (UTC)
It's nothing wrong with the IDs; it's anet's silly system of limiting chat codes that's causing it. For some reason it catches a ton of valid items and prevents them from being linked in-game. -Darqam 18:58, 9 March 2017 (UTC)
This is the case. The old ID#s and therefore the chat links should still be valid. We just can't see them. ;( SarielV 20 x 20px 19:26, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

Location Refinement[edit]

I am removing this comment from the notes section: * Can spawn multiple keys in a row at a time. Has long periods where the key doesn't spawn at all (up to a few hours) I just picked up a key and it respawned instantly in the same spot. I am assuming the key always respawns instantly but cannot always be found because 1) it spawns in an unknown location, 2) is picked up by others. The only way to get it confirmed would be to get a squad with members at each of the known spawn locations and pick up keys until it did not appear at a known spot then search to find where it did spawn. I have picked up 50+ keys and am tracking where they are found. I have not yet been unable to find a key after checking the known locations. Separ (talk) 18:47, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

Key destruction requirements[edit]

Just defeated the Steam Ogre after a Fire Elemental fight, and my key (Fire and Earth; [&AgHISwAA]) didn't get destroyed in transit. Was it a fluke? Was the number and type of elements relevant? Did the Fire Elemental polish patch update how keys work? Sathgirus (talk) 13:35, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
