Talk:Gigantic cat

I don't think we know that Burger is His Royal Majesty, First Claw of the Realms and Conqueror of the Sunbeam Throne, the King of All Cats. The mail implies his location is near Trader's Forum Waypoint. Notop (talk) 08:11, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

Yeah, I actually just recieved a mail from the editor who created this article, pointing out that the LA cat has a nametag that reads "Burger". That's a good observation, but I'm not sure we should create a dedicated article called "Burger" because it's clearly just a scaled up version of the Mini Blue Catmander, who also wears a tag that reads "Burger". Having spent some time looking around ingame, I see that there are actually giant cats in all the major cities, so you're right that the LA cat probably isn't His Royal Meowjesty. Might be useful to use this article as a summary of all the giant cats though? —Idris User Idris signature.png 08:17, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
Got another mail from User:Leadwing, going to post it here since it's useful feedback -- hope you don't mind, Leadwing!
"Sorry suck at using wiki so my bad if you got this twice. But what about changing it back to burger and then in the description stating he is a blow up version of catmander for April fools and can be found at these locations?"
My response to this: the cats in other cities use different models, and don't have the Burger nametag. That's why I don't feel like "Burger" would be useful as a summary article name. —Idris User Idris signature.png 08:31, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
That said, I'm currently thinking that "Giant Cat" would be a better name, since there's no indication any of them are His Royal Meowjesty. —Idris User Idris signature.png 09:10, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
As far as the mail goes, Waypoint (map icon).png Trader's Forum Waypoint is just the generic location for all mails' "Show Location" buttons that direct you to Lion's Arch. This is also clear because the hint in the cutscene has the generic description of Lion's Arch.

Locations[edit]

Should a locations section listing the nearest areas to each cat be added even though they're out of bounds? Sunlion (talk) 08:51, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

Yes, we can add a note pointing out that the cats are out of bounds, and the locations are simply the best places from which to view them. —Idris User Idris signature.png 08:52, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

Potentially better images[edit]

Potentially better (albeit small) images of cats I am too lazy to upload:

Trivia[edit]

Attack on Kitty jokes aside, this whole thing reminds me a lot of being able to see the Great Ones in Bloodborne, after gaining enough Insight.
The added might from cats could be related to the gained frenzy. Possible trivia addition? User Karuro Sig.png Karuro 21:07, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

While I definitely got the same vibe, I personally didn't felt that it was obvious enough to be conclusive stated. Just as with the AoT refrences, so I am neutral on the issue. Doctor Refrence (talk) 21:14, 1 April 2020 (UTC)

Why past tense?[edit]

Why were all the references changed to past tense. The cats are still there, at least the one in LA. Daddicus (talk) 00:49, 3 April 2020 (UTC)

I lazily assumed the cats would disappear after April 1st and didn't bother to buy another tonic to check if I was right. Thanks to the editor who undid my changes. —Idris User Idris signature.png 12:53, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
According to patch notes, it should last until April 7. ~SimeUser Sime Maraca Choya.pngTalk 12:56, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, the April Fools patch notes. They really got me by adding a line that was actually true! —Idris User Idris signature.png 13:20, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
No, they're permanent additions. I'll fix the tense. - Kirbman talk 01:28, 8 June 2022 (UTC)

Changing Actions[edit]

  • Yesterday LA cat was static.
  • As of now the Lions Arch cat is performing an action loop: Head rises out of water, sinks a bit, looks left, looks right. Repeat. Separ (talk) 04:09, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
Pretty sure it did this loop on April 1st as well -Doctor Refrence (talk) 09:17, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
Yep, it was moving since its release aka April 1st. ~SimeUser Sime Maraca Choya.pngTalk 12:38, 3 April 2020 (UTC)
