Talk:Downed penalty
Much better! Vald [Citation Needed] 20:59, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, DP in GW1 was kinda ridiculous. -~=Ϛρѧякγ (τѧιк) 21:59, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- I didn't mind it, seeing as I didn't die much in places where it was applied. Still, this one is much more reasonable for attracting a more casual (or at least varied) gaming audience. --Kyoshi (Talk) 22:37, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- Um, the GW1W box here is out of place. It's one thing to link from this wiki's Orr article to the GW1W's Orr article (which are about the same thing, but from different perspectives), and another to link from Death Penalty here to the GW1W's article about a completely different Death Penalty mechanic. - Better, thank you! Erasculio 23:23, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, it's the same mechanic (a Penalty, gotten on Death), but simply a weaker version. I vote for putting the box back in. --Naoroji 07:38, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- All the box says is that there is an article on Death Penalty at the other wiki. What's wrong with that? Ramei Arashi 19:31, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
- DP in GW1 was fantastic! This sounds fine, but the "gear durability" thing sounds like one of those gaming hassles GW is trying to remove from other MMO's they have added back in. What a nuisance managing durability is. Otherwise, they system sounds fine. --Mooseyfate 17:00, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

why Death penalty not Death Penalty?[edit]
Why the lowercase "p"? Ramei Arashi 15:10, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- I believe this blog post contains the answer. AoshimaMichio 15:47, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
why is it called "death" penalty if the character doesn't actually die? Stormcrowx 07:57, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
- I don't believe that the final name has been confirmed. It has been referred to in articles as death penalty but I believe it is so that guild wars players can follow better. Correct me if I am wrong. --Decoinferno 10:49, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
Naming convention (again)[edit]
Now I am quite confused because the in-game title of this effect seems to be all uppercase, but then in the description it is all lowercase (see screen) - so which we go with? ***EAGLEMUT*** TALK 13:41, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Downed penalty[edit]
In the last beta this effect was renamed Downed penalty. That was most probably to enforce the idea that players never die in GW2. MithTalk 13:34, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
- All links to death penalty were replaced, though we should leave the redirect in place for a while. - Infinite - talk 13:42, 13 June 2012 (UTC)
3 icons only >> 3 downs max in one minute[edit]
I happened to see the "red" version of that penalty today for the first time. In fact, I think it was the first time I noticed that icon at all. I was on a low level character, underwater, with more barracudas coming every few seconds. The first thing that astonished me is: if you get 4 chances/warnings as the wiki says, why does it only mention 3 icons? I tested, with difficulty since you need to have enough mobs around you to die 4 times in less than a minute (you have to kill one each time you revive yourself), and at least one of them has to be low on health before you go down... difficult to control. What I noticed:
- During these tests I never started with a full downed health bar. First down was with around 75% (hard to say exactly, since the bar doesn't show immediately, and you can get hit at least once in the meantime)
- You can only get downed 3 times in a row in less than a minute (not 100% certain of that, but let's say 95%). I was only able to see three icons (grey, yellow and red) in any case, and the grey one appears at/after the first down.
Therefore, it makes sense for there to be 3 icons only:
- Grey icon says: next time you'll be at 50%
- Yellow icon says: next time you'll be at 25%
- Red icon says: next time you won't be able to revive yourself at all.
And therefore, the tooltip description is wrong. You don't start with less health the next time you go down, but every time you go down. Either that, or this is bugged. --Alad 05:00, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
DP in Raid instances[edit]
Does anyone have more information on whats going on in Raids with DP, I got inconsistent behavior when I tried to test it. Lantanar (talk) 01:46, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
