Prolly, very balanced group --Kyoshi (Talk) User Kyoshi sig.png 00:21, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
Would Make sense, but my only question then is what happened to the bloodlines of those very heroes you mentioned from GW1, did they just die off, or are htey going be represnted once again in the henchmen area? 72.174.198.212 18:10, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
Well, from what we have seen so far it seems likely that Cpt. Thackeray is a descendant of Gwen. --Santax (talk · contribs) 19:01, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
Mhenlo and Cynn might have got a baby or two Fox007 User:Fox007 21:54, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
Pfft, Mhenlo has a kid with Cynn, Devona, Eve, Chiyo, Danika, Emi, Nikka, and that one female Canthan Guard... On a serious note, Aiden and Zho, and Thom and Farrah may get kids. -- Konig/talk 03:00, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
where did we hear about destiny's edge? it's not that i'm questioning it's validity, i'm just beyond ordinary levels of horrified that there is news about gw2 that i missed! p.s.can any1 direct me to any kind of list of official announcements about gw2, interviews and the like. i'm not very good at simply searching for info in general, and i'm sure some1 is keeping public track of this.Akbaroth 12:25, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

It might be this:
  • Devonna = Thackery
  • Mhenlo = Rytlock
  • Aidan = Eir
  • Cynn = Zojja
  • Eve = Caithe
Mhenlo and Rytlock seems a bit strange, but Mhenlo was the only left ;P. 80.60.80.108 22:50, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
Perhaps Zojja is Mhenlo and Rytlock is Cynn? That's my best guess. Elendor 23:32, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Wow. We keep Gwen from getting eaten by skales, shower her with gifts and precious memories, support her through the Underworld, and save the world with her, but she runs off with Thackeray?? I didn't even know this moron existed until Wintersday 08. God damnit.

On a less QQy note I am hoping that some significance is given to the heroes of GW1 (h/h and players) lore wise. I mean we saved the world about 5 times... Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ аІiсә User Aliceandsven 1.png ѕνәи Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ 21:30, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Actually based on what happens later, I'd say we were all failures. Beating the Lich Lord and the Titans did not lead to the charr leaving Ascalon, only in becoming atheists. The Canthan Emperor is saved from a traitor only to produce a decendent who becomes a tyrant. In defeating Abbadon, another evil was set lose on Elona. Ramei Arashi 08:18, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
I think you're right. From all the talk of a "cleric"-type Warrior, I think it's possible that Rytlock could be the new Mhenlo though I personally think he's an Assassin. --Spigs 02:57, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
Logan is definably this second soldier class which is speculated to be a paragon/cleric like profession. Rytlock is most likely a warrior, Caithe an assassin-like profession, Eir a ranger, Zojja the elementalist. Caithe is definably, in my opinion, an "adventurer" profession unlike Eve who would fit under "scholar." -- Konig/talk 04:16, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
I thought Caithe was a Necromancer? Prince Grazel 10:12, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

descendant[edit]

its pretty obvious for thackery but could they al be descendants for people we know in gw1? except caithe ofcourse 84.192.8.68 12:01, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

We don't know about the others (yet) so it could be possible 80.60.80.108 21:33, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
Zojja is the spitting image of Gadd tbh, so surely she seems to be in some relation to Vekk? Caithe seems alot like Jora, but we can't be sure... Then theres Ritlock, i highly doubt a connection between him and Pyre, due to Pyre's daughter bringing down the flame/gold legion. So, those are my guesses. --User:Nautaut (t) 16:24, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
Yeah but bringing down the Gold legion is cool, and the Charr all know that xD
Caithe could be the dream of one the the weary adventurers we all know and love? 78.154.96.229 22:58, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
Do you mean Caithe seems a lot like Jora or Eir?--198.51.130.254 17:32, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
I think he/she meant Eir looks alot like Jora :) Prince Grazel 10:13, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Appearance in the 3rd Guild Wars Novel a possibility?[edit]

We all know the 3 books are to cover the 250+/- years between EotN and the first chance we get to be in the world as it is in GW2.

I am hoping we get to see Destiny's Edge as the main characters in the 3rd book, as that will place them close to the time of the Guild Wars world at game launch.

It would be a perfect way to introduce them to all of us and give us insight into their personalities. Any insight or "hints" are of course Most Welcome. :) --Thorfinnr 21:00, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

I think Destiny's Edge will be the main characters in Guild Wars: Fall of Ascalon, or at least in the book, as it takes place only a couple years before GW2. And it is possible all three books will contain Destiny's Edge, in fact. -- Konig/talk 00:56, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
It will definitely be interesting to see exactly where the first book jumps into the history...I know I have read where they are supposed to fill in the 250 year gap...but if they just turn out to bring us into the story, pretty much just as good...:) --Thorfinnr 21:48, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

Snaff Source[edit]

Does anyone have a source for the claim of Snaff being a part of Destiny's Edge? Beggerboy 00:59, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

It's in Ghosts of Ascalon. No question about it. Zojja was his apprentice. I assume Edge of Destiny will give us the details we need. Arshay Duskbrow 06:03, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

DE Profession Predictions?[edit]

Considering it's highly unlikely for any of Destiny's Edge to have the same profession as anyone else in it, here are my predictions for their professions:

  • Caithe: Assassin/Necromancer (look at footage for her. She dual-wields daggers, so either shes a caster or an assassin)
  • Eir: Ranger
  • Logan: Paladin-Paragony thing (based purely on the fact that he looks/sounds less like a warrior than Rytlock does)
  • Rytlock: Warrior
  • Zojja: Elementalist
  • Snaff:  ???

Honestly I've never heard of Snaff before now. Apparently he was part of DE, but i haven't seen any media about him, so I can't make any predictions for him. Now, what are your predictions? 66.69.230.172 07:55, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

There will be characters with the same profession in Destiny's Edge, because it is not a small group of people, it is a big guild. - Giant Nuker 13:49, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
Actually, it's a small guild. A guild is still a group of people, and we're told that there were only 5 people in Destiny's Edge before it disbanded (Logan, Caithe, Eir, Rytlock, and Snaff). In GW2, these fellas excluding Snaff (replaced with Zojja) are akin to Devona, Mhenlo, Aidan, Cynn, and Eve from GW1. Not all guilds are large. Also, Snaff and Zojja may be of the same profession, as Zojja was Snaff's apprentice. -- Konig/talk 15:01, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

guild[edit]

Shouldn't Destiny's Edge be described as a famous guild rather than adventuring group? Ramei Arashi 04:50, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Done. Side note: What's the source on the guild being dedicated to defeating the Elder Dragons? I know in GW2, we have to reunite them to fight the Elder Dragons, but were they originally for that purpose? Guess we'll find out in December but still... -- Konig/talk 06:27, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Story[edit]

As far as I've understood the main storyline in GW2 will be to unite these fine fellas and then fight Zhaitan? Or am I completely wrong? --Piippo 13:17, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

That is correct, in a bare bone sense, as we are suppose to get all the races together, which will probably get Destiny's Edge back together. - Giant Nuker 14:27, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
However, it would seem that the "main storyline" is less important than the rest of the storyline. Since there's the set-in-stone storyline (unite the races, fight Zhaitan), then there's the main storyline bits that is determined by your choices (via biography and other), then there's the side storylines (events and dungeons). GW2's main storyline is as much about uniting the races and fighting Zhaitan, it would seem to me, as Prophecies was about fighting the Orrian undead (ironic, isn't it?). -- Konig/talk 17:41, 11 October 2010 (UTC)
I for one hope it won't be the 'main' story line. Based on interviews I'm getting some bad flashbacks to Faction's, where the player's role in the story was to be Mhenlo's and Togo's cheerleading squad (and their role in the game was their bodyguards). Call me egocentric, but I think the players should be getting a bit more in-story credit for saving the world. I realize it's harder to write gripping cutscene's involving the players since you the designers don't easily know what kind of personality the players had in mind for their avatar. But Nighfall and Eye of the North did manage to make some nice cutscenes involving your own companions that didn't overshadow the player's accomplishments (at least not in a way that wasn't a jab at the Asura). And with the whole 'personal-story' feature in GW2, I'm hoping that they'll be able to give the players a bit more personality in cutscenes based on their choices. What I'm not hoping for is that my GW2 character will have to audition for the role of Destiny's Edge's towel boy. | Bificommander 13:06 21 March 2011 (UTC)

Disbanding (spoiler related)[edit]

Doesn't EoD end with the passage about Caithe determined to get her friends to rejoin Destiny's Edge (though that last part isn't explicitly mentioned)? Where does the official word of the disbanding come from? As far as I can read into it, Caithe is now in a one-man's DE. - Infinite - talk 13:08, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

You can't be a one-man DE. Destiny's Edge is a guild, a group of individuals. Destiny's Edge was the six together and the six are no longer together therefore disbanded. -- Konig/talk 19:48, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
You can be a one-man guild in Guild Wars as well, so I will need an actual source on that. - Infinite - talk 20:26, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
I was fairly certain DE was only a "guild" by the dictionary definition. -User Eive Windgrace Harbinger of the Deceiver.png 21:10, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
Guilds compete and recruit. They were what Asurans would call a "krewe", I believe--they banded together for one purpose only. --Sy 21:35, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
Which means DE is not a guild, and thus the rules change. Then they merely parted, not disbanded. Sounds much more accurate. Infinite - talk 22:30, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
I don't know if you read it or not, so I'll try to avoid specifics. One member wants the entire group to remain together, another is fine with everyone except one person in particular, one hates the entire band, and two have simply given up hope. Officially, they 'are' disbanded, but according to developer interviews, it won't be permanent depending on your character's personal story. (Don't have a source for this, sorry.) --Sy 22:49, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
I've read it, yes. Caithe is still working as Destiny's Edge, that is what the very last paragraph tells us. They merely parted due to butthurt (bluntly put), but Caithe is still going to continue finding ways to finish what they had promised to do. She is the only one still loyal (and I believe she keeps the name intact, but we'd need comformation on that part). - Infinite - talk 00:41, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
I think "estranged" would be a better word than "disbanded" (which carries connotations of guild mechanics). Even when they're not 'together', they're still Destiny's Edge. pling User Pling sig.png 01:29, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
But they are still disbanded by the literal definition of the term. They've stopped acting as a group and have gone their separate ways. That one continues to act with the goals of the group in her heart doesn't stop the group from being disbursed and no longer acting as a group. Estrange does cover the idea we have the future knowledge of being able to restore the group but it doesn't stop them from being (at the end of the book and the beginning of the game) disbanded. -- aspectacle User Aspectacle.png 02:08, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
I agree with aspectacle. And I'd like to point out that in-game mechanics do not apply in storytelling. -- Xu Davella 09:05, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
So do we turn guild back into group or is there a better word to describe them? A formation maybe? I'd say clique, but that wouldn't be correct after the final 3 or 4 chapters. Maybe just revert to group. - Infinite - talk 12:42, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
"You can be a one-man guild in Guild Wars" Mechanics != lore as has been stated on this wiki possibly hundreds of times by now. "And I'd like to point out that in-game mechanics do not apply in storytelling." Second this comment. One must forget about GW1 mechanics when even dealing with GW2 mechanics. They have proven to be completely different games in terms of mechanics, only lore is shared. They are explicitly called a guild officially, therefore they are a guild. They are stated to be disbanded officially, and that in GW2 we must bring them back together to reform Destiny's Edge. There is absolutely no issue with saying they're a guild and that they're disbanded. -- Konig/talk 19:14, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
"They are explicitly called a guild officially, therefore they are a guild." And this is exactly what remains unsourced. In all of EoD, the word "guild" is not mentioned in conjunction with the words "Destiny's Edge". - Infinite - talk 19:23, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
To elaborate, EoD refers to them as a group at all times. Therefore, surely, they are mere group, not guild. - Infinite - talk 19:28, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) It was in an interview. I'll look for it for you. -- Konig/talk 22:54, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

There will be no need for this. In the commoner's mouth, Destiny's Edge was referred to as one of the greatests of guilds, as per Dougal's mind rambling when in jail (GoA). They are a guild, and the timeline states they broke apart. So guild and broke apart. They never actually disbanded, although it is a synonym to break apart. I would say use guild and broke apart in light of the official sources. - Infinite - talk 23:38, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Mimics player guild[edit]

Most likely intentional, as the guild starts as a merger between other guilds, each keeping half their old name. Pretty much how noob player guilds tend to merge into larger, more prominent guilds, only to disband due to leader conflicts. Even the naming scheme is pretty much what a group of players would have done. 94.229.155.181 21:23, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Spoiler Tag[edit]

The spoiler tag says 'spoilers for Edge of Destiny and the personal story' but with the addition of things from after the PS, shouldn't it also have Living Season 2, HoT, and Season 3 (the bit about Braham and Eir's memorial)? I haven't the slightest clue how to edit spoiler tags or I'd do it myself (hint, hint) so could one of you wiki editing pros do it? Thanks. ~~TiffanySmith.8216 20:59, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
