Dialogue[edit]
- Before acquiring at least one piece of Obsidian armor
- Wayfarer, is it? I wasn't sure it was you, given the understated nature of your...aura. If you ever acquire Obsidian armor, return to me and we'll see what we can do about that.
- I'll think about it.
- After acquiring at least one piece of Obsidian armor
- Wayfarer, is it? You've an outsized reputation, but I wasn't sure it was you given the understated nature of your...aura.
- My...aura?
- Indeed. Coincidentally, I couldn't help but notice you've acquired Obsidian armor. Imposing enough, I suppose. A touch...lifeless. Perhaps you could use a dash of flair...
- Flair, you say?
- I see we understand one another! Now, what if I told you I could add some panache to that ensemble? Evoke fear in your enemies, impress your allies...yet maintain that elegance outside of combat.
- Sounds great! What do I need to do?
- You've an eye for opportunity! This runestone synthesizes and projects auras acquired through the suffusion of your experiences—battles, exploration, Convergences, rifts, financial sacrifices...
- Sounds like a lot of work.
- Oh, but SO worth it, rest assured! And listen. Come closer. Between you and me, I've been experimenting a bit with imbued runes... I can expedite the process just a touch, if you're feeling impatient.
- No thanks, I'm good.
- Great! Once the runestone has experience your...experiences, return with the required materials. Once imbued, each runestone splits into two runes which you can use with any piece of Obsidian armor.
- Okay. I'd better get to it.
- Maybe some other time.
- Why are we whispering?
- Thing is, I dabble in tinctures. The magical sort. For supplemental income. Just until I get that promotion! Point being, I can brew tinctures that'll, shall we say, simulate specific experiences.
- I understand. (Continues with "Great! Once the runestone has experienced…")
- Is that safe?
- You won't feel a thing, as long as you only consume a maximum of one per day. Which is all I'll sell you. When I tesetd twice a daily dose, it temporarily rejiggered my synapses.
- Intresting. Let's move on. (Continues with "Great! Once the runestone has experienced…")
- "Rejiggered your synapses"?
- I regained consciousness in a skyscale stable in a puddle of— It's not important. The runestone will react as though you took part in its associated experience, is the bottom line. My friend.
- Okay. Good to know. My friend. (Continues with "Great! Once the runestone has experienced…")
- I need to leave.
- I need to leave.
- I need to leave.
- I need to leave.
- I need to leave.
- Hmm, I'm not sure—
- You will be, once you've taken a piece of this armor for a spin. The light of a blazing sun terrifying your foes, announcing to all the battlefield, "The wayfarer has arrived, run for the hills"—
- Sounds great! What do I need to do? (Same as above)
- What's the catch?
- No catch. Viv—Grand Archivist Vivienne—left the rune to collect dust in the vault. Called it "frivolous," but I saw its potential. I offered to make use of it...for the benefit of the tower, of course!
- Sounds great! What do I need to do? (Same as above)
- Culturally? Militarily? Financially?
- Yes! You receive stunning accoutrements to enhance your already striking visage; I prove to Viv that I've an eye for valuable assets, perhaps earn a long-overdue promotion... What say you, Wayfaer?
- Yeah, okay. Sure. (Continues with "You've an eye for opportunity")
- I need to leave.
- I need to leave.
- I need to leave.
- I need to leave.
- I need to leave.
- Let's see what you have for sale.
- Sorry, I'm busy.
