Collect a Jade Core Extraction Kit from the Jade Core Excavation Kits box. You will see Jade Core Samples marked by Event cog (tango icon).png on your map: approach one and use  Search.png Core Sweep to make it interactable.

To safely extract the core, you will have to complete a short memory puzzle: a single pattern of three symbols. Pay close attention when you interact with the core, as the memory puzzle icons are small and easy to miss, especially in combat. The timer to complete the puzzle is quite short: activate the corresponding skill as soon as you see the prompt, don't wait for the full sequence to play. The relevant skills from the bundle are:

If you take too long, or use a skill out of order, the core will explode, and you will have to try a different one. The cores respawn relatively quickly though, so losing a couple isn't likely to fail the event.

Once you've gathered a core, return it to the Jade Core Storage box by Yenna.

Yenna: Okay, I've exposed some promising cores, so get started extracting them.
Yenna: Careful. These cores are fragile. Disturb them too much, and it could attract Void.
Picking up cores

Yenna: That's it! Now, quick, return it to me before it gets too unstable.
Yenna: Expertly done! Now bring that core back to me.
Ruining cores

Lau: Look out! You're attracting Void.
Yenna: You're supposed to be extracting cores, NOT VOID CREATURES!
Yenna: Ah, it broke. Try another core.
Handing in cores
One of the following:
Yenna: This core's a beauty! Keep them coming.
Yenna: Nice. This is exactly what I need.
Half of the cores collected
Yenna: Okay, we're halfway there. Just a few more.
One minute remaining
Yenna: You're running out of time. Get me those cores.
Enough cores collected
Yenna: That should do it! If you have more cores, bring them over here.
Event success
Lau: Thank you, but our research has revealed something devastating.
Ministry of Security Guard: Tell us.
Lau: If unstopped, the Void will keep growing until it rips the very fabric of reality and nothing is left.
Yenna: I know two things: we have each other...and we have a lot more work to do.
Ministry of Security Guard: She's right. If we're to beat the Void, we must first understand it.
Lau: Okay, let's get these samples back to Frozen Sea Monastery. Like my wife said, we have work to do.
Yenna: I'll keep searching for core extraction spots. We're not defeated yet!
