Discourse on a Tome (1075 A.E.) is a book that can be found in Durmand Priory's library in Lornar's Pass.

Text[edit]

Transcribed by Scholar B. T. Kett during a panel on the Tome of Rubicon, during the annual Durmand Priory conference on ancient texts, 1075 A.E.

Scholar Eunice Blackloom: I maintain the implausibility of it. The Great Dwarf's prophecies are the blusterings of a bored super being, assuming the tome isn't a forgery.

Scholar Donald Fleck: You deny there are magical configurations of which you know nothing? How can we ignore the warnings? The Great Destroyer may well rise one day.

Blackloom: To consider for one moment that some Great Destroyer would rise, much less destroy all of Tyria? Preposterous! Such an event could never happen.

Fleck: Prophecies are inherently misleading. I do not propose that we should take it literally. Of course, the Great Destroyer will not rise. And the dwarves will not be destroyed.
Blackloom: Then, what are you proposing?

Fleck: I would suggest that an earthquake will destroy the dwarven holdings, and they will be forced to move, rebuild, and renew themselves. A rebirth of sorts.
Blackloom: I must admit. Your theory has merit.

Notes[edit]

This book claims to document a Durmand Priory conference in 1075 AE, but the Timeline states that the Durmand Priory wasn't established until 1105 AE.
