The Edge of the Mists[edit]
- Ambient Scenes
- Sheriff Siriam: So, Canach, why didn't you escape with Mai? In all this confusion, it would have been easy for you.
- Canach: Scarlet's forces didn't even glance my way. I should be offended, but for once I'm glad to have been overlooked.
- Canach: Yes, Scarlet and I share a certain...fixation on self-determination, but we are not natural allies.
- Canach: I seek to define my role in this world. She seeks to tear this world down and use the rubble as her throne.
- Canach: I've seen eyes like hers...in the mirror. She's not in control. Whatever drives her is destroying her day by day from within.
- Canach: But the truth is, I did not wish to escape. I've made more than my share of mistakes already.
- Canach: I'm determined to serve my time and pay my debt. And even more determined not to put myself in this position again.
- Canach: I met Scarlet briefly when she went by the name Ceara. She treated me with slight regard then, as well.
- Canach: The Consortium isn't likely to forget about me. Thankfully, I'm safe here, so that won't be an issue until my release.
- Canach: Incarceration is hard. I don't mind the isolation, but the children chanting "karka killer" grows tiresome.
- Canach: I am here until my time is served or someone buys my billet. Given my popularity, I expect to serve the full sentence.
- Canach: A Southsun settler contacted me recently. She thanked me for my efforts, but decried my methods. I know how she feels.
Battle for Lion's Arch: Aftermath[edit]
- So, you've killed Scarlet. I suppose you think you're a hero. Tell me, did she say anything before you snuffed her out?
- She said Tyria would bow to a new master.
- Speaking from experience, no one goes to these lengths without thinking they are doing some good. It raises a troubling question.
- Which is?
- What good did she think she was doing?
- I can't say.
- None of your business.
Festival of the Four Winds[edit]
- I have never gotten many visitors, and I get even less since Scarlet attacked. Though from what I hear, I may not have to stay in this cage for much longer.
- You getting out soon?
- Possibly. Lion's Arch is so desperate for funds to help them rebuild, they've started auctioning off prisoner billets.
- What's a billet?
- It's a document that represents ownership of the time to which I was sentenced. Purchase someone's billet, and that person becomes answerable to you...and you become answerable for their actions.
- I'm not sure how I feel about that.
- It's strange to me as well. Sheriff Siriam can explain it better than I can, but I see it this way: Lion's Arch was built on trade, and this is just another business transaction.
- So you're bartering your services for early release.
- Exactly. In this case, it's double income for the city: they get the money in advance, and they save a fortune on what would otherwise go toward prisoner upkeep.
- Do they let just anybody out?
- No, only those who are no longer a threat to society or have demonstrated a sincere desire for rehabilitation. Like me, for example. I want nothing more than to put my lawless days behind me.
- Like you, huh? Time will tell.
- I see.
- I see.

Gates of Maguuma[edit]
- They're letting me out soon. Someone's buying my billet. I don't know whom yet. All I know is that if one more person throws trash at me, I'll break out of this cage and shred them with my bare hands.
- Having a rough time, are you?
- There's a lot of sylvari hatred out there because of Scarlet. And I'm a captive target for their vitriol. I just wish my benefactor would hurry up and buy that billet.

Entanglement and The Dragon's Reach: Part 1[edit]
- Hey. Big news. I'm getting out of the cage. I'm going to be a Shining Blade flunky. No complaints, mind you. My guess is they're fed fairly well.
- Might give you some insight into how the other side works.
- I suppose you're referring to the law-abiding side. Well, we could all benefit from that, couldn't we?
- I'm going to be traveling westward.
- There's some wild country out there. Wish I could go with you. That's just the kind of adventure I love. Some other time, perhaps.
- We'll stay in touch.
- I see.
- I see.
Quotes[edit]
