Map images[edit]

For the future, should you upload any new map images, can you name them under the following scheme: "File:<location> map.jpg" That'll be their final destination as it's more descriptively accurate than "complete" and typically non-icon images are uploaded as jpg on the wiki. Thanks! Konig/talk 04:08, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, sorry working on getting both up there, got the names crossed Nefara (talk) 05:19, 19 August 2017 (UTC)

Uh, I think you may have responded to the wrong comment. This was posted in 2012. The most recent one is down at the bottom of the page. ;) --Idris (talk) 05:26, 19 August 2017 (UTC)

Weapon names[edit]

Hey in the case of Carrion Tribal Greatsword, there is actually no Tribal Greatsword and the weapon only comes in Carrion variant. That is why I made a page for Carrion Tribal Greatsword. If you still feel that a page should made for Tribal Greatsword though, let me know. I am just adding the pictures for the various weapons so if you feel a page is named wrong just make a proper page for it and copy the pictures over :D -Dulfy

As i saw you post something similar on User talk:Dulfy, I thought I'd ask you this: If page moves were easy to do and didn't require a lot of redirect fixing, do you think the following should be moved:

Current title Icon move.pngSuggested title
  • Carrion Verdant weapons
  • Ravaging Glyphic weapons
  • Carrion Flame weapons
  • Ravaging Steam weapons
  • Penetrating Krytan weapons
  • Traveler's Aureate weapons
  • Mending Shiverpeak weapons
  • Shaman's Norn weapons
  • Verdant weapons
  • Glyphic weapons
  • Flame weapons
  • Steam weapons
  • Krytan weapons
  • Aureate weapons
  • Shiverpeak weapons
  • Norn weapons

I get the feeling that you might answer yes :p Also, do you think the weapon family names should be plurals or singular? (e.g. Norn weapon vs Norn weapons)--Chieftain Alex 08:18, 9 November 2012 (UTC)

Haha, you guessed right. I'd definitely say yes to redirecting those, in fact I was eyeballing the culturals and thinking of doing it myself, but I know how moves on more popular pages can cause issues. I think as far as pluralizing them, I just went with the naming schemes I saw being used when I started making those pages but now that you mention it, it probably would be better to go with plurals. I'm always pluralizing it outside the brackets anyway, it'll mean removing a lot of s's but it'd make a lot more sense. Thanks for consulting me! Nefara 20:31, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
Originally there were about 60% of them at the singular .. so I moved the plurals to all be singular. Moving them back will be awkward, but if they're moving anyway.. Do you think I should wait for some more opinions on this before doing such moves? --Chieftain Alex 21:13, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
How would you go about displaying on the Norn Staff page that it has the prefix Shaman's? (or would you have kept it at Shaman's Norn Staff?) --Chieftain Alex 21:51, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
I'd add a table of variations like I did on the Modniir weapon pages, for example Modniir Sunderer, and list the Shaman's as being available from the cultural weapon vendors. I know that skin pops up frequently in karma vendors and some loot drops, so as we continue documenting karma vendor rewards and loot in certain areas we could add variations under the single, main page for the skin. That sort of thing gives me organization giggles. For ones that literally only have that variation, we could simply state that in the item description alongside the infobox. Nefara 22:35, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
Ok I've done something somewhat similar on the Norn Greatsword page, but I don't think using the item icon template is worthwhile as the row header... the icon doesn't really add anything, and the text goes into an awful bold weight. --Chieftain Alex 22:47, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
You're right, it doesn't really add anything, I just liked the visual aspect at the time. I've just redone the table for the Modniir Sunderer since I used it as an example before, it should be able to be easily expanded and I think I'll start collecting "centaur" karma variations into the Modniir pages using the new table. Let me know if you have any suggestions for info that should be added. Oh... and do you know if it'd be possible to change the weapon infoboxes to make value, power, level, and cost able to have "varies" as an option? Nefara 00:25, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
Per my last edit on Modniir Sunderer - I've added a parameter called varies = Varies to the infobox - remove any reference to value, cost, power or level before using it... if this doesn't produce what you were thinking of, I'll try again tomorrow. --Chieftain Alex 01:09, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
Perfect! Thanks, that'll work great. If you get a chance, adding an optional item code to the info box would be great too for weapons with only one variation. Nefara 01:11, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
I won't be adding the item code, as User:Poke is working on a script to generate all the chat codes based on the item codes I think.. and when hes finished with that it will be incorporated in ways I can't imagine :P --Chieftain Alex 01:15, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
Wow, that sounds fantastic. I can't wait! In the meantime I'll get back to expanding the Modniir tables :D Nefara 01:18, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
Poke "is almost done decrypting all the item codes" and there is a giant list of ids. There will be same magic and voodoo converting item ids to equivalent chat link codes and doing so for all the items with the infobox and such. Which a bot will more likely add to existing item pages with infoboxes.--Relyk 07:00, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
Do you know if there will be or might be in the future some sort of ability to automatically insert bot generated item codes into a table? For example, the karma acquired items like those I added to the Modniir pages (for example, Modniir Ward. I'm planning on doing that for other weapons and it'd be great to know if I should still be inserting those manually. Nefara 07:24, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Apparently in terms of page moves, only nightmare weapons and whisper weapons (not sure if this is the correct ingame name, waiting for confirmation) are left :D yay. --Chieftain Alex 15:58, 16 November 2012 (UTC)

unique exotics category[edit]

If you could recreate that category as [[:Category:Unique exotics]], that would be correct. "Unique Exotic" is not a proper noun, in-game or out. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:38, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

Sure, to be honest I wasn't 100% on whether that was correct, which is why I didn't continue adding pagesNefara 20:20, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
Also about categories, categorizing them in themselves is... kinda pointless. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 04:07, 12 November 2012 (UTC)
I was following what seemed to be the template, I'm learning by Frankensteining so the pages I grabbed code from as a reference to create the page must have had that too. Good to know though.
And another note on categories: redirecting them doesn't do anything useful. Just tag them for deletion. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 00:46, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Map screenshots[edit]

A tip: once you're in position for the screenshot, you can log out and back in again to remove the white dot path from the map. --Idris (talk) 05:13, 19 August 2017 (UTC)
