Welcome! Do you read manga? :P Ge4ce-Talk-Contribs 12:11, 16 May 2011 (UTC)

Thank you! I personally don't read manga... and I'm afraid instead of manga, animation is much more popular among Chinese, though AFAIK it's in Japan that manga is common throughout all the age groups. Glastium 09:03, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
I'm somewhat jealous to those who can understand Japanese. Currently, I don't really have the time to undertake the lessons, but one day!! And the question mostly comes from the fact that a lot of scanlation groups, the ones that convert Japanese manga to English scans, are searching for Jap > Eng translators. (Though I've quit that scene for nearly a year or so now.) Ge4ce-Talk-Contribs 15:21, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Yeah it's quite easier for any Latin language->English than for Japanese->English, because it's the cultural differences, rather than the language itself, makes it difficult to convert it (manga or whatever) in my point of view. Knowing the language is never hard if you dig into it, while knowing the culture is. I'll recommend anyone who wants to know Japan and the Japanese style of socializing better this book: The Chrysanthemum and the Sword. It provides an interpretation of Japanese life, and most important of all, it's written by an american so it'll generally be more objective somehow. Well it does not enable your ability to read Japanese, but it surely helps to understand the translations. Hope this will help :) Glastium | talk 03:43, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Chinese wiki

The unofficial Chinese wiki was mentioned here with an interesting point raised. I do not fully comprehend the intentions of the official Chinese wiki as it currently stands but I am assuming that, in time, it will all be in Chinese rather than the copy-pasted articles of the English GW2W and thus fully original? Thank you for your time and any clarifications in advance. - Infinite - talk 09:09, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

The Chinese wiki runs under the licence GNU 1.2, the same one which applies here. And for all the pages which is copied and translated from here, most of them bears the mark that the Enligh original version comes from here. And as your concern about possible GW2 Chinese wiki, which I see very unlikely since there's never been a GW Chinese official wiki, I'll move onto it if ANet started it. Hope this resolves some confusions :) Glastium 09:23, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
And I'll make up the indication of original source if any of the pages fail to show it once I come across. Sorry about that :) Glastium 09:26, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
I believe the concerns were the direct copies, but if you intend to translate it all in time, then there is absolutely no problem as far as I am concerned. Keep up the great work! :) - Infinite - talk 10:38, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Yes we'll eventually turn all the pages there into Chinese, with 80% of the pages, as you can see, already translated for now. The 20% left are ANet blog post and skill pages which is mostly because of disputes of Chinese translation of skill name and description. Last but not least, I appreciate your support and the patience to read through my horribly flawed English. :P Glastium 10:57, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Oh, I haven't experienced any "horribly flawed English", mr. fishing-for-compliments! (Jokes! Your English is perfectly fine as far as I can tell.) :) - Infinite - talk 18:00, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
Yes I knew it! I should've stopped buying my English teacher painkillers for reviewing my writings! (lol) Glastium | talk 03:43, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

skill infobox

please suggest changes in the future for the skill infobox. If you wish to make your changes more permanent, please start a discussion. The current skill infobox did not happen overnight, nor will it be modified by a single person, it took months to design. Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 09:12, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Alright then. I thought it were some random changes there. Didn't realize it was discussed before. My apologies. :| Glastium | talk 09:37, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Then welcome! :) Glastium | talk 07:28, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for reading my warrior rant-article-feature thing. I was thinking pretty much the same myself, about showing it to friends. And also thanks for appreciative words regarding edits on Demo page. It's hard to write whole articles without making a mistake, so no need to worry about making some (if you wrote that page's content entirely from scratch, I wonder where you got Queensblade/Queensdale from? lol). Everyone's here to help each other out, right. Anyways, yours was the bigger effort. :) Mediggo 12:11, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Again, thanks for the help! I'm not a native English speaker, so sometimes I cannot develop my ideas very well in the writings, which means all such grammar check or rewording are often neccessary and helpful, for me and for the wiki. Also, I wonder whether you're willing to write similar articles for other professions? It's brilliant to show the others they can play whatever they like in GW2, not what is needed. Besides, the Queensblade thing is completely my misremembering. Nothing to do with Queensblade. Really :D User:GlastiumGlastium | talk 10:22, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Well, I'm really glad you like those articles I wrote. :) As you might have already noticed, I just finished an article describing what thief means to me. Mediggo 11:43, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Ha! I'm just done finishing reading your thief article. Though I'm not a fanboy of thieves, but it's still an interesting read in my perspective. It points out how the strengthened steal skill work and establish the basic understandings of thief mechanics and those super awsome skills. While personally, I prefer the User:Mediggo/Warrior article since it's player-oriented, which tells people what they can do, while this one is a bit more skill-oriented instead. But hey, everyone thinks different. :) User:GlastiumGlastium | talk 12:45, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Oh and I forgot to argued that this is not a thief queen. She must be a mesmer! XD User:GlastiumGlastium | talk 12:47, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I wouldn't mind her being Countess Anise. :) And mesmers being able to use swords, too. Mediggo 12:57, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
And with pistols on her offhand shooting purple bullets transforming into countless butterflies in the mid-air. Oh hell no I'm dreaming again :B User:GlastiumGlastium | talk 13:29, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Sounds like a GW2 version of this. Or maybe even this... Mediggo 13:50, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, maybe a bit of both... User:GlastiumGlastium | talk 08:24, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

scroll

How'd you get your content in this template to scroll without a visible scrollbar? I can't even find a scrollbar that you've hidden behind another div.-- Shew 06:11, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

It just happened. I don't know how it works, but it works. Actually I stole it from here. Maybe you'd like to ask himself? :D User:GlastiumGlastium | talk 06:16, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Hmm, well when I click and drag to the right over Infinite's, the entire thing shifts over & the scroll bar is revealed, but nothing like that happens with yours...I'll see what I can figure out.-- Shew 12:32, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Mine works exactly as Infinite's. Click in the description texts(because I only apply scrolling in that area, while Infinite applies it on the entire page) and drag it to the right and you'll see. At least I can see it in Chrome. User:GlastiumGlastium | talk 12:37, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Nothing's happening for me, lol. Maybe it's just my browser's resolution.-- Shew 12:40, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Maybe it hides behind your main window's scrolling bar. Sometimes it happens, at least for me. User:GlastiumGlastium | talk 12:44, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

--Cerberuszmh 08:40, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

我已经解答了他们质疑的版权问题了,没必要再担心这件事情了。直接贴英文的回去也可以。不过既然这里是英文wiki,最好我们还是用英文吧,如果觉得英文不便,直接在QQ或者多玩上聊都行:)。Since GW2 is not released yet, most of the contents (even game mechanics) can change, so I'll say no hurry to move it into GW2CN. Also I think the wiki version on GW2CN is more advanced than here, since it has a visible edit box if you enabling it in your preference. And one more stuff, build up your userpage here! (plz? So that will make me feel I'm not the only one here QQ) User:GlastiumGlastium | talk 08:44, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
Also, if any wiki-releated info raised, feel free to ask me or this guy. He knows a lot about wikiing. User:GlastiumGlastium | talk 08:45, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

Uniformatting

Was there a consensus (or any discussion at all) on that table design? If there was and I was late to the party due to being absent for three weeks, then I'll go with it. It just looks very... unfinished and I personally really don't like it. Aqua (T|C) 15:44, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

It's been used on many skill type pages for days or weeks. Mediggo 15:49, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
Let me rephrase: where was the discussion? Aqua (T|C) 16:37, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
I shall quote Infinite: "A being-bold edit on the Signet article started this trend and it will be temporary anyway (if we *ever* start introducing DPL). - Infinite - talk 15:44, 4 August 2011 (UTC) " from Talk:Symbol. As you can see, that discussion happened more than a week ago.
Furthermore, this edit by Orrery would seem like the start of that table design. And as you can see, it was made over three weeks ago. Mediggo 17:20, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Mediggo, for your explanation! Also, @Aqua, I think Venom is the one you want to ask if you need more details about it. User:Glastium Glastium | talk 09:51, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

Formatting question

Hey I was just wondering what the difference is between this example: Enfeebling Blood and this example: Enfeebling Blood. I've been noticing that there's some kind of semi-revert-war where users are editing in favor of one or the other, and it's getting confusing to know which one is preferred (since I don't know anything about how each of them function.) --Xu Davella 06:14, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

As defined in Template:skill icon, the 1st parameter represents the skill name, as well as the skill icon link text. So if the icon of the specific skill exists, there's no need to fill in the last two parameters, like Enfeebling Blood. While if there's no available icon for a specific skill, we need to use Skill.png to placehold it, thus we fill in the 2nd parameter as the skill icon link text(normally identical to the skill name), and the 3rd parameter as Skill to denote using Skill.png, just like Enfeebling Blood actually shows Skill.png. Hope this will help. User:Glastium Glastium | talk 07:30, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
ohhh ok. Placeholder... Take out when icon is uploaded... And its done... Yay, thanks heaps for explaining! :) --Xu Davella 21:00, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

A reminder

Are you ever going to look into this, or are you just done working with it? Mediggo 09:29, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

My apologies :( Havn't noticed that. I'll look into it ASAP. User:Glastium Glastium | talk 09:47, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
Thank you very much. I hope you can solve it. Also, the 'Back' link on your MultiMerge template seems to direct back to your template page, not back to... well, someone's userpage or MM template page? I'm not sure what it's function was supposed to be. :P Mediggo 10:20, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
I'm trying to solve the back problem but yet it can only return to my page, yes. I'll tweak it if I get time, maybe in 2 or 3 days. User:Glastium Glastium | talk 10:50, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
Perhaps you could simply let it go. It doesn't seem that necessary to me. You can always get back to the userpage by following the links underneath page name. Mediggo 11:31, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
No matter, I'll have to deal with it eventually. User:Glastium Glastium | talk 04:39, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
I altered your multimerge template so the 'Back' link works properly now. I hope you don't mind. :) Mediggo 08:30, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Any idea how to fix what happens here in User:Mediggo/Characters#Eadgyth_Randgris.uw? Switching to different weapon sets on Shew's skill bar doesn't seem to work properly. I used the different id's mentioned in User:Shewmake/Template:Skill-Bar. Mediggo 09:19, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

It also seems to happen here, as well as any other instances of switching weapon sets within your character template and Shew's skill bar. I guess it's because of Shew's template and not yours, so there's probably little to do about it other than not use skill bar extension at all. Mediggo 09:24, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
The problem is caused by the mechanics how "jump to" works. In this case, a #Eadgyth_Randgris.uw link will force the skill bar template to show in the top-most of the page, thus leading the context hidden below appears. There may be some ways to avoid this, but I can't think of any for now. User:Glastium Glastium | talk 09:59, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

I encountered a problem of templates limit exceeding when I used complete skillbars on no less than five characters. None of the character templates showed up in that case, so I ceased to use Shew's skillbar extension altogether. So the above issue is no longer a problem for me. It might be worth documenting this on your tempalte page (something like "Using Shew's skillbar on 5 or more characters will cause problems when using multimerge").

Yet another issue of less importance: Any value/date set on birth does not show up anywhere, but you probably know/intended this. I think it'd be nice to show the age of my characters, and I really, really, really like your character templates. I tried to edit and preview your MW template to my best ability, but even if example Char1 (that Logan) has a value for birth, it didn't call or show it properly within the template. I know you're busy in real life, and that's fine. :) I hope you're all right. Mediggo 07:52, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your caring :D Yes I'm busily engaged in rl stuff so I guess I won't get much time to deal with it. If you know how to make it right, feel free to edit it. You always have my welcome :) User:Glastium Glastium | talk 20:12, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

I've kinda sort of stolen your character template, because it's awesome. This is a small thank you for creating it and sharing it to the wiki world =) -- Cyan User Cyan Light sig.jpg 13:55, 9 September 2011 (UTC)

Sharpening Stone

Do you have a source for it being a preparation? (It is not designated as a preparation on its individual page, and it has caused an ambiguity about what a preparation is.) Aqua (T|C) 17:18, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

No, I don't. It is classified as preparation long before I started the skill type navigation template. The only evidence so far, as far as I know, is from here. User:Glastium Glastium | talk 22:04, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
