- Now, I know that on PvX (excluding obvious vandalism like "penis penis duck" in the middle of an article), always, without exception, we place a warning or two on the user's talk page and don't give 1 month bans for trolling. 1 month is a little extreme but the lack of a warning is a bad idea in general. Sure, he could have been stupid. Sure, he could have been a troll. Sure, he could have been disrupting on him and a sock's talk page (who cares? ignore him?). Sure he was all of that and less, but you should always post a warning, imo. Grinchy[슴Mc슴]Diddles 00:35, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

I think said user that you banned might have created a sock User:Glas_Aroows, if you see erf shakkurs talk page he mentions his caps lock button being broke and Glas Aroows claims the same problem here, which seems a bit coincidental given the similarities in the users.PheNaxKian(T/c) 20:17, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

- Although it does seem likely in this case, but the caps lock is hardly conclusive. They aren't the first to talk in all caps, and certainly not the last. Glas could also be a sock of one oh the other three, or a different user altogether. Lord Belar 20:48, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

- So if I were to copy PheN's user page and speak the same language as him (English), does that make me a sock of PheN's? There's no way to check on GW2W if someone is a sock with a notice from the user. —ǥrɩɳsɧƴɖɩđđɭɘş 21:47, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Just wondering[edit]
Hey I was just wondering if I should add some little tidbits from the Guild wars 2 PC gamer issue but reword them so it's not plagiarizing-- Ninja Dragon 23:54, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Seeing as it's ArenaNet content, I think we are allowed to add whatever ANet release. -- Plingggggg \ Talk 23:55, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- As Pling says, that shouldn't be a problem. :) - anja 00:07, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Double redirects[edit]
For signature images, double redirects are to be left as they are. (Pling has already reverted that change by other users as well.) Not a big deal; just thought I'd point it out. Aqua (T|C) 15:07, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

- hi hi! There's such a lack of good games to play I think I might have taken up wikiing again :P and you? stuck in wow still? ;) - anja 12:54, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
- Technically I still have a sub active, but I only log on once a week to raid. Most of my free time is being eaten up by D3 and World of Tanks (a freemium PvP mmo with... tanks). Both are pretty fun! -Auron 00:26, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
- I really can't decide if I should buy D3 or not! I usually don't like dark stories that much, and I definitely don't like grinding/repetitive stuff. But I've heard so much good about D3! What do you think of GW2 so far then? :) I trust you will give me a less fanboish opinion :P - anja 05:32, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
- I like D3 a lot, but it definitely has its flaws. Playing it with friends is leagues better than playing it alone - the storyline alone doesn't carry it as a product. The classes are pretty nice though, each has their own flavor and style. End-game viability is an issue (most classes only have 1 build that works in inferno), and once you get to 60, you basically farm bosses a lot to get enough money to buy enough gear to progress to the next act... but the gameplay to 60 is pretty nice. I wrote a longer review on it linked on my userpage.
- Hrm... my take on GW2 is that it's aimed at and designed for a super casual audience. The PvE, the PvP, everything I've seen is very easy to grasp and to play - which is fine for soccer moms, but it leaves a lot to be desired for more hardcore gamers. The two PvP modes that exist are large-scale Alliance Battles and small-scale Alliance battles - and honestly, Alliance Battles was one of the worst PvP modes in GW1. They somehow forgot to copy over GvG, HA and RA/TA - instead opting for cap points of all things (which is really, really terrible for a MMO PvP game type).
- The PvE sounds like it can be okay - I haven't played it firsthand yet, but questing in one MMO is like questing in all of them. I'm not a big fan of collecting 8 skree wings or killing 10 bears, and that seems to be all that questing entails in most games. The game also lacks end-game PvE content - no raiding or hard dungeons we've heard of, so once players get to 80, there's nothing to do. Supposedly there's a mechanic that scales you down when you go to lower zones, so you can do content at-level, but you could also just... roll a new character and go to those zones to experience them, so that whole mechanic seems rather silly.
- Lastly, class viability is an issue - obviously a big deal in PvP (even as casual as it is), but it affects PvE too. Guardians and Thieves just stomp all over everything with no trouble, Mesmers and Warriors do decently well, and everything else is shittastic (which is sad, because I'm still interested in playing Engineer as my main). Most of the issues here are just number ones - certain useless skills need to be tweaked/buffed to be more in line with other classes, but based on ANet's inability to do this with GW1, I'm not confident they'll have it smoothed out for release. But honestly, with the lack of subscription fee, there's no huge pressure to play every day - if it takes them a couple months to get things right, that's fine. My biggest concerns lie with the PvP content (or lack thereof). Rumors flying around seem to hint that there are more PvP modes in development, but they're kept under lock and key and NDAs and won't be ready until sometime after launch, so I have little faith in them bringing more fun to the game. I just hope the PvE content isn't as boring as GW1's, and more engaging than most of WoW's. -Auron 07:50, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
- Maybe D3 isn't for me then, I need a new alone-game. We'll see if the civ 5 expansion is a better option. :) GW2 really seems like a very casual game, I agree with you there. I'm just afraid there will be a big jump between dungeons and normal play, dungeons too hardcore for casual players like me, and normal play too easy in the long run. I haven't played too far in any of the betas so I don't know anything about class balance or scaling yet, but I trust they will balance things out quite ok, even if only for PvE. PvP is too elitist for me, and too demanding :P But I do hope they bring something more to PvP than WvW and that tournament system. WvW doesn't feel like PvP really, more like WoW's open PvP between factions on the PvP servers. GW2 will need an ok PvP system to gather enough players and get enough resources. - anja 12:27, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

Desolation is full[edit]
Hi Anja :) If a world is full, trying waiting and checking back. The "full" state is not permanent - it seems to be relative to the number of players logged in to it and/or to other worlds. -- ab.er.rant 04:05, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- Oh, I thought it was permanent until people left the world! I'll keep checking ^^ - anja 04:46, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

moving and SMW[edit]
There's a bug in our version of SMW where properties get duplicated when you move a page (retained at the old name *and* set at the new name, and since we equate redirects with their target, you get both sets of properties returned in a query). To avoid this, simply blank the page (deletes all stored properties) before moving, then undo that revision after the move. (If you forget, blank/undo will still work after the move). —Dr Ishmael 13:42, 27 April 2014 (UTC)
- Oh, I see Alex already explained this somewhat on Poke's talkpage. Carry on. —Dr Ishmael 13:45, 27 April 2014 (UTC)
- I was wondering what was happening on list pages! And understood perfectly nothing what Alex was talking about earlier because it was totally out of context :P You mean lists on merchants and vendors that return two different results on the same row, right? Both the old name and the new name? Otherwise I simply have NO IDEA what you're on about :P - anja 13:59, 27 April 2014 (UTC)
- yeah sorry I can't explain anything in real life either. tl;dr version: it breaks basically everything. -Chieftain Alex 14:05, 27 April 2014 (UTC)
- Ish wasn't that much better, he just repeated things so I figured it must be something you want me to understand so I paid more attention :P I did think I fixed Historian Symon though by just updating to the correct names in the template call? - anja 14:09, 27 April 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah a combination of your editing the page + my blanking/reverting the ascalonian armor pages (did that this morning) has fixed it. -Chieftain Alex 14:19, 27 April 2014 (UTC)
You're back[edit]
What with you, Alex and the psychotic robot, recent changes has pretty much ceased to exist. This is a problem to me as I've always found recent changes-watching to be more fun than actually playing the game.
