Template talk:Radius

This template (I think it is this template) is accidentally using File:Range.png instead of File:Radius.png. Tyndel (talk) 17:46, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
- Template:Effect looks up the
?Has game icon
property from the effect's page, and because Radius redirects to Range, it uses the value from Range. The only options are to hard-code a specific value for Radius into Template:Effect, or to create an actual article for Radius. —Dr Ishmael 18:01, 13 September 2014 (UTC) - radius is a skill fact, not an effect. I don't think it should use the effect template?--Relyk ~ talk < 18:28, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
- Everything from Template:Skill fact is routed through Template:Effect in order to consolidate code. It's not a very appropriate name anymore, but it's not really worth changing. —Dr Ishmael 19:26, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
- Range and radius aren't the same. Range is a distance (caster to target); radius denotes an area (e.g. radius of the aoe field). I know players (and sometimes ANet) confuse the two. I hope that the wiki can keep them distinct, since it often affects the mechanics. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:30, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
- Relyk already fixed it by hardcoding this template (it no longer uses Template:Effect). —Dr Ishmael 20:39, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
More issues[edit]
After Relyk fixed the icon there are now multiple instances where the skill fact only shows 'Radius: X' instead of e.g 'Damage Radius: X'. The 'alt' parameter is not considered anymore. Tyndel (talk) 23:21, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
- The reason is because "Damage radius" is not "Radius". Damage radius isn't very common so you can mimic Meteor Shower.--Relyk ~ talk < 23:39, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
Radius link[edit]
It seems like there is a 'pointless' redirect happening here. The 'radius' page is only a redirect to range. Would it be possible to change that somehow? -Darqam (talk) 15:46, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
