MW1.19 drops support for align="center"[edit]

Most sites I searched recommend to use margins left and right set to auto (not sure why this works), I had to apply these changes to this same template and avoided using align="center" for images, they also recommend to use |center| whenever possible. – Valento msg 04:58, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Oh, one more thing, every page that has a missing image includes the 'Pages with broken links to images' category, it's automatic (I didn't set anything). – Valento msg 04:59, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
align is a deprecated HTML attribute that we shouldn't be using anyway. I'll put eradicating it on my to-do list.
Yes, that is a new feature of MW since (I think ) 1.17, meant to assist in wiki maintenance. If you don't like it showing on all the pages, you can add the magic word __HIDDENCAT__ to the category page, like we use on, for example, Category:Major traits. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 05:12, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
Nice, thank you, about the centered alignment, will you use the margins set to auto or something else? I'm not sure what I should do. – Valento msg 05:16, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
Also, this feature might have been introduced in 1.18 because we had 1.17 installed, but maybe it was added in another minor version (x.x.2 or something)? – Valento msg 05:18, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
For centering a block-level element on the page, yes, you use style="margin:auto" (or "margin:Xpx auto" if you need a specific top/bottom margin). For centering the content within a block-level element, however, you use style="text-align:center" on the containing element (this can be a div, th/td, etc.). You can see both of these in the edits I just made to this template. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 05:20, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
I see, applied the same way there, will you be replacing these align="center" everywhere in the wiki? (god it may take some time!) – Valento msg 05:29, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
Yep, I'll do it sometime soon. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 13:29, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Changes in story journal[edit]

With the new story journal, the year is now shown, when that story part has happened. At first I thought we should update the picture of the story summary to reflect this, but maybe it is easier just to expand this template with an optional parameter for the year and then show that given year in an appropriate way. By doing this we can update the story pages without replacing the existing images. I have no clue how to do this and so I want to ask, whoever watching this template to do so. What do you think about it? Balwin (talk) 07:52, 12 July 2014 (UTC)

I don't think we need to include the date. If we do, it would be in the infobox, although we may need to redesign it to incorporate living world now.--Relyk ~ talk < 08:13, 12 July 2014 (UTC)

PNG and jpg[edit]

Can we have this template accept PNG and JPG images so we don't have duplicate images. Anzenketh (talk) 15:50, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

example? there shouldn't be users uploading .png concept art. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 18:35, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
Loading screens are extracted from Gw2.dat, and the tool exports them as PNG by default. Historically, we've been converting them to JPG for the wiki since, prior to dat-extraction becoming common, the images were modified screenshots in JPG. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 18:43, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
in my day it was texmod + .dds.. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:17, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
didnt know they had wikis in the 60s -Auron 20:30, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

Image[edit]

Why does this template go off the "norm" for the image paramter? | image = Breaking the Bone Ship versus | image = Breaking the Bone Ship.jpg where the second case would be more intentional - considering how we handle other pages with images in infoboxes.

This would probably be an easy bot task to transition, since all images should be in .jpg format already. —Kvothe (talk) 12:18, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

Agreed, i'll bot convert them. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 17:50, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
Thank you! —Kvothe (talk) 18:44, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

No image[edit]

So we've finally had some story episodes released in LWS5 which don't have any loading screens - particularly Tidings and Misgivings and Calm in the Storm. Thoughts on whether we should just put the loading screen of the associated area (e.g. the loading screen for the eotn outpost), or have "image = no" as an option? -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 18:15, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

I think I have used the zone loading-screen before. —Kvothe (talk) 00:55, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
