unlock requirements[edit]

I have this Google spreadsheet listing all the unlock requirements for all the traits. These are equivalent across professions, where Trait Line A = trait line at top of trait interface, Trait Line B is the second line, etc.

Don't have time tonight to wikify or anything (I'm already dead tired as I type this), so if someone else can do it while I'm asleep, that would be great. They're fairly standardized, as you can see from the formula I used to construct the full text from the broken-out columns, so I bet this would lend itself well to a template of some sort. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 05:28, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Ended up doing it myself. As I said in the summary, it just does the job. Someone else can make it pretty. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 22:03, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for posting this to the main space; it's very helpful. As is my habit, I've re-arranged the main space version to provide an at-a-glance version. My table shows the same data, arranged in a way that allows one to compare cost vs effort, find the starting locations and maps, and see if there are any other "hidden" requirements (e.g. boss timer). (I need to do another run through it to add links and fancy it up a bit.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:42, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Exception[edit]

All traits that reduce fall damage are unlocked by completing Obsidian Sanctum. I've checked the other traits related to common mechanics such as downed and revival, but so far only the fall damage traits seem to be sharing the same regardless of their trait line. So they must be shuffled with at least one trait, which means that several trait pages show wrong requirements for unlock. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 06:56, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

requirements grouped[edit]

I grouped up the requirements according to level and map/location. Feel free to format it appropriately and add it to the main page. Here: http://pastebin.com/jJPczrcu The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.130.20.147 (talkcontribs) at 09:14, 7 June 2014 (UTC).

Two tables[edit]

Both present the same information, just in different ways. Could the tables be merged into one, and some sort of magic sorting buttons used so players can view the information any way they personally find useful? Vili 点 User talk:Vili 18:13, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

Even were we to add the necessary columns to the first table, the organization of the second table is too complex to be replicatable. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 18:14, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

Seems doable to me. Formatting would be the biggest hurdle. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 18:30, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
Have at it in your sandbox. If it looks good maybe it can be put in. I am still skeptical however until I see it more complete. Anzenketh (talk) 18:41, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
Something like this? [[User:Dustix/Traits Unlocking List]]. I made it for personal use so it might not be the best (buggy, wrong information etc) Dustix Talk quest option tango.pngTalk 23:42, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

Still accurate?[edit]

I'm in the process of leveling up another guardian -- my first was long before the trait changes, so I'm a little confused on the process. But, from what I am reading here, it looks like (for example) trait line 1, skill III should be unlocked with Gendarran Fields completion. I look at Zeal on the wiki and in game, and skill III is Protector's Impact. So that should be simple enough, right? Except when I look at the traits in game, Protector's Impact is unlocked by completing the Obsidian Sanctum jumping puzzle. The trait unlocked for Gendarran Fields completion is Blinding Jeopardy, which is skill I in the Zeal line.

It's entirely possible, though, that I'm misreading the tables or something. And it's been far too long since I last edited wiki pages for me to start messing around with this when I'm not 100% sure that my corrections would be accurate. Nkuvu 02:33, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

An update changed how some of the traits were unlocked because some had excessive requirements. I don't know if the article has been updated.--Relyk ~ talk < 02:36, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
All falling damage traits are unlocked by Obsidian Sanctum. It completely screws up the infobox's automated unlock info for a few professions. I haven't had the time (or felt the urgency) to take a new character to level 30 in all 8 professions to figure out the exact differences. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 02:42, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

My trait guide for level range[edit]

I made an edited version of it that people can follow the guide easily by leveling. It's at my user page. It's still in editing, but I think this will be better to see. I'd like to see hows your ideas about this. --Targal (talk) 16:31, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

Falling damage trait screw up[edit]

The [1] annotation about the falling damage does not entirely cover the swapping of the tasks per class, the guardian has 1-I and 1-III the other way around. Also, the given example is outdated, the line 1-I task is "Complete Help Legionnaire Boneflayer crush the Renegades.", which makes the whole thing even more confusing. I'd suggest to simply list multiple tasks in the six cases where there are differences, and mark them with the class icons, which would look like this. The table does not look perfectly smooth anymore, of course, but it's way easier to read than the "if falling trait then read somewhere else" method, which you can even completely miss easily. --aRTy 01:59, 2 November 2014 (UTC)

That'll actually show it better. It's now like this because the one who first made it didn't add the exception. So a quick note was added there. The note can be confusing, so your example is better, as it shows the exceptions visually. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 22:34, 2 November 2014 (UTC)
